Written In The Stars A Novel Novels & Stories

Noelle had not known what she had been talking about because she hadn't paid attention, until the day before school started again. Noelle had gone to the library to return an overdue novel that she did not have time to read because of all the studying and classes. As she'd walked past the bookshelf, she'd overheard some gossip. A few people had said that they'd heard someone sneak in the night before, and that by the next morning, there'd been two bags filled with stars on the table. That was the source of their gossip. Noelle knew it wasn’t true, because those stars aren’t visible when they are not up in the sky. The villagers have always known that too.

“That’s the rule.” I lowered my head back down. His heartbeat. The constellation on his shoulder visible from this angle – Orion, the hunter, the tattoo I’d traced so many times I could ink it blindfolded, the kitchen floor beneath us solid and cold and permanent. The permission wasn’t a gift. It was a starting line. The blank page waiting for the first word. Our book that would contain everything – the bar and the boy and the girl who wrote at 2 AM because writing was the only way she knew how to stay alive when the world said disappear.

Even my slippers were missing from their usual spot. A document and a piece of paper were left on the coffee table. Sean picked them up with shaky hands. The words "Application to join the work for medical humanitarian assistance" could be seen on the document. On the other hand, a message was written on the piece of paper. "Sean, I wish you happiness for the rest of your life." My name was signed at the bottom of the note. Sean could not believe what was happening. He called out my name repeatedly in his stubbornness. Still, there was no reply.

It was a new moon so the stars were shining their brightest. "Ha- I don't know what I've done to win such favor from you god... But thank you." Alison mumbled with a tear rolling down her cheek. All in one day never had she been so terrified, and yet never had she been so thankful for something either.

Staring at the weathered faces of middle-aged strangers won’t bring me any closer to her. A draft stirs through the room, rustling the loose pages. The windows beside me rattle softly as a chill wind presses inside. I glance toward them, startled. “When did it get so dark?” The moon hangs half-hidden behind a veil of clouds, faint and pale, but the stars burn around it. So bright, unyielding and countless. I let out another sigh, tilting my head back. “Moon Goddess,” I whisper into the quiet, “why would you dangle something so important in front of me… only to take her away?”

The stars above shimmered like diamonds in the inky darkness, each one a beacon of light in the celestial. Nina’s eyes widened with amazement as she gazed upward. The sheer number of stars left her in awe. It was as though the sky had laid out its jewels just for them. Countless stars and constellations filled the sky, and they seemed to stretch to infinity. Standing beside her, Jayden was infected by her smile. He was glad that he could create a memorable evening for her. As they gazed at the stars, Jayden stood behind Nina and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. He signaled to the crew, who nodded at him before leaving the couple alone.

lenses on the soldiers' helmets explode. "Go!" Hope yelled. I grabbed Silas’s shadow-hand—or rather, the "Signal" of it—and ran for the window. We dived out into the night, landing on the wet grass of a real-world backyard. I looked up at the sky. It wasn't purple or gold. It was a deep, infinite black, dotted with billions of real, uncoded stars. But as I looked at the stars, I saw something that made my heart stop. The stars weren't just stars. They were arranged in a **Grid**.

And standing on the surface of that ocean, walking toward them, were Thousands of Eric Parsleys. Each one was holding a pen. Each one was writing on the sky. And as Kael watched, the "Stars" began to rearrange themselves into words. "CHAPTER 122: THE END OF THE FAMILY." Kael’s blood ran cold. He looked at Nora, then at the millions of "Authors" writing their doom into the very fabric of the universe. "They aren't writing a story anymore," Kael whispered. "They’re writing a Death Warrant."

He kissed her again, softer this time, as though he was afraid she might vanish with the stars. *** The little town had fallen into silence by the dark nightfall. The cobblestone streets that had been bustling all day with tourists and shopkeepers were now quiet, lanterns flickering at doorways and casting soft golden light. Beyond the town square, the sky stretched endlessly, velvet-black and scattered with stars that shimmered like diamonds thrown across eternity.

The world stood firm, its golden horizon glowing with the strength of their choices, its stone humming with Agnes’s song. The stars above no longer fell, their white light softened, woven into the sky like threads in a tapestry. Yet one star flickered, cold and solitary, its pulse a reminder of the Night’s final whisper: Guardians. The air was still, but it carried a weight, as if the world itself were holding its breath, waiting for the next judgment. The fracture was sealed, but the echo of the starlight hand lingered in their minds, its touch a memory that burned.
