Lyra's POV Xander's grip tightens, eyes blazing with an emotion dangerously close to hatred. I wrench myself free, stumbling backward, but he matches each of my retreating steps with an aggressive advance. The space between us crackles with tension. Despite his anger, the mate pull thrums stronger than ever. It's intoxicating, making me light-headed even as alarm bells scream in my mind. I squeeze my eyes shut as he closes in, his face mere inches from mine. My heart pounds, torn between longing for a kiss and bracing for a verbal assault.

But as he leaned down to claim the kiss, Chloe twisted her head. The kiss landed harmlessly on the corner of her mouth. Xavier’s face darkened instantly. She immediately looked away as her cheeks heated up. Xavier was holding a book in his hand as he read quietly in the corner. His face was the voice of any emotion even though the book he was reading was probably comedy. His thick brows were slightly furrowed, his lips pursed into a thin line and his beautiful brown hair was falling down on his forehead. She couldn't help but suddenly feel like a fangirl. He truly is perfect. Not only was he wealthy, but he's super duper rich, too. "Staring is mean, you know?" he suddenly said.

His palm's gentle circling over my clit sends shivers down my spine, intensifying the sensations.
