Maya screamed. She felt her soul being yanked toward the ship. Outside, the clones crumpled, their new memories tearing out of their heads like smoke.
“They’re taking it back!” David yelled. “Everything Maya gave them!”
Maya grabbed for Julian, clutching the locket around his neck. The little gold spark inside stayed still—everything else was being dragged toward the ship.
“Julian, take the girls! Get to the mountains!” Maya shouted, shoving herself up as the wind whipped her hair. “I have to go to the ship.”
