After the conversation with Maris, Kane returned to Lani's home. Lani hadn't returned yet. Kane remembered that she mentioned participating in a new game show broadcast this morning. In haste, Kane grabbed his iPad and opened the live-streaming page. The game show featured celebrities experiencing the life of ordinary people. Apart from Lani, there were four other female actors whose names Kane didn't know. The show seemed to have just begun as the staff was starting to explain the rules for today's challenge.

We’ve had this reservation every Thursday night for the last 15 years. Yeah. We’re old. “Alright, what’re we playing tonight?” Hakeem asks, pulling the deck out of the box and giving it a shuffle. Tomas groans. “Can’t do much thinking tonight. Five Card Draw, no wilds?” Hakeem nods, pulling out the jokers while Gael passes out chips. $20 each to start. We usually make it through ten rounds, depending on how much shit-talking we get into.

Fortune said hurriedly, and downed his glass. But Annie rolled her eyes. “I wouldn't want to kiss you even if you were not married,” she said. A few people laughed, but Fortine did not seem bothered. He smiled at Dave. “Since I'm out, you have to play with the next person…” The place turned quiet again as everyone looked at Dave. That was because the next person to play was Annie. Oops! I felt bad for him. His luck seemed so bad today. I waited for the drama to unfold.

She asked curiously, and he nodded. "I forgot to tell you the rules," he muttered, his frown deepening as if he had committed a grave offence. The Time Keeper’s eyes narrowed, the silver orbs shimmering like moons caught in a storm. His tone was grave as he responded, “Rules are the foundation of this arrangement, Alessia. Break them, and you may lose your chance to return entirely.” Alessia straightened, clutching the bracelet on her wrist. "What rules?" she asked cautiously, her unease growing with every passing second.

The words glowed, forming a message written in an ancient language. Mia and Ryan, who had just entered the library, rushed over. "What is that?" Mia asked, eyes wide. Ryan studied the glowing text and translated it aloud. "The game was never truly over. The Reflection Game was just the beginning. A new trial awaits, and those who have played once must play again. The next game will not be in mirrors—but in shadows." The words faded just as suddenly as they had appeared, and the book snapped shut. Silence filled the room.

He wasn't as interested in the drink as he was in the beautiful girl, but he would take that game to the limit. Lara sank into her seat, losing her victorious posture. "Keep going. This son of a bitch needs to lose to me sometime," Greyson assured with a small malicious smile. "Are you sure?" she asked, somewhat insecure. "Of course. do not embarrass me." "No more bids? Going once. Going twice. Going..." at that moment, the master of ceremonies began to close the sale, but was interrupted by the firm sentence coming from table five: "One million dollars!" Wow.

This was a silly game, they were doing all of it on purpose, letting me know that they could see me but I couldn't. Anger flowed through my veins and I growled loudly, wanting to set things straight. “Show yourself!” I yelled. I needed answers now. I needed closure. I couldn’t deal with this if there was no evidence. My heart was racing and I felt my claws start to grow, ready to rip into whatever was there. Whoever was there. They needed to come out and stop playing games. It was starting to really piss me off. “Or are we going to play hide and seek forever?”

Or possibly some other annoying twat. Whoever or whatever it was, this vine would reveal the truth. That in itself was a useful ability. I might not have been able to use my power properly, but I got to see what I could have used it for if I’d been competent. It was a bit like on a gameshow when they show you the prize you would have won if you hadn’t bottled it at the end. That’s why I would never go on a gameshow, no matter how big the prize. There’s just no way I wouldn’t choke when that final question came up. That and also it would be embarrassing to have no one to put down as my phone a friend.

I didn't over think it though. After a little while, the next game was announced as 'Hide and Seek'. First off, that wasn't even a sport. Secondly.... What was the catch? "Excuse me", Freya raised a hand. "Who exactly is hiding and who is seeking?" "Good question, please step out". She gestured to Freya who came out without the least bit of worry. "You too". She pointed to me and then to another girl from the last school. "Now, play rock-paper-scissors". She took a few steps back.
