She shot back A tiny smirk curved his lips, but it did not get to his eyes. “You always have this much bad luck, Little Trouble?” Lydia blinked. “What?” “That is what you are,” he said, leaning casually against the counter like he was not standing half-naked in a confined space with someone who clearly did not belong there. “Trouble. You stumble into places you should not be, get caught in things you can not handle, and now you are here. In my space.”

He really pissed me off and I wished I could knock that smile off his face, but that could be looking for trouble, even though Alex and I were the hot-tempered ones, we had never beaten Adrian in a fight, he could even take on the both of us alone. The only reason those thugs had him a bit at the hospital’s cafeteria was probably because he wasn’t really that mad and he was observing self control. “What am I even praising him for? My body felt like a boneless rag doll as Nicholas turned me over in his arms, inspecting me thoroughly. Then, as if I were trash, he dropped me beside him without a second thought. He let out a heavy sigh, pressing his trembling hand against his brow. He shot me a sidelong glance, muttering under his breath, "Damn it." A headache started throbbing in my temples, and I couldn't tell if it was from his words or the effects of the drug kicking in. But it was clear that Nicholas was far angrier than I was, his voice seething with frustration.
