He tried to read. He really did. But after a few lines, his mind drifted again.

And as we ate, we watched one of Lucy's cartoons again. I'm starting to like these crazy animations. Lucy fell asleep and I took her to her bedroom. I headed back to Danica’s bedroom to check on her one more time. I leaned against the door seeing her knee-deep in the book she was reading. They’re fiction?” Clay just smiled, handing the woman his shiny gold card that signified his membership to the bookshop. “Like I said, it was just based off my tastes.” With that, the young man gave a brief gesture of thanks to the woman, collecting his bag as he made his way out of the shop.
