The girl swallowed and said, "What help." The man took a book out from his coat and handed it over: "Help me see what this book says." The girl took it and glanced down. The cover was clean and neat, and there was no title. The girl felt confused, but she still opened the first page. When she saw what was inside, she looked even more flustered, and the book in her hand fell to the ground with a bang. The man saw that and laughed, showing his white teeth: "Is this Book of Death any good?"

CHAPTER ONE The Boy in the Book Lady Brad was browsing the Mystery section in Book Lady on Liberty Street when he noticed the boy staring at him. Well, not a boy exactly. He was probably in his early twenties, more of a young man. The older Brad got, though, the younger everyone else looked to him. Jesus, you’re only thirty-six, stop casting yourself in the role of a geriatric. Although you are closer to forty than twenty. Hell, you’re closer to forty than thirty . . .

Hiding the baby from Birdie stresses me out, which leads to hunger. "Well, you never changed one bit," I was halfway finishing my food when I heard a familiar voice as. I looked up and saw a handsome young man with a goofy grin. "What's up, chipmunk." I stare at this young man and study his face; older but young, he had a five o'clock shadow, his honey-blonde hair underneath the beanie, his brown eyes I remembered from when I was a little girl. Wait, did he say chipmunk?
