Wanda asked, her voice softening slightly. I thought of Lucien standing in that study, shaking but refusing to give up. I thought of the way I had let everyone else write my story for twenty-one years. "I realized that if I’m going to be a monster in their eyes anyway, I might as well be a monster who plays the cello."

WINTER POV The house didn’t feel like a house anymore. It felt like a target. Every shadow stretched too long. Every sound felt too sharp. Even the walls seemed thinner—like danger could slip through if it tried hard enough. Marcus disappearing wasn’t relief. It was worse. Because Marcus didn’t disappear. Marcus planned. And now… we didn’t know where he was. “No signal. No transactions. No movement.” Luca’s voice cut through the room, tight with focus as his fingers moved quickly across the keyboard.

“You killed both of them. You’re a monster.” Adriano stepped closer, stopping just a few feet away. “Your father destroyed my family first,” he said quietly. “Tonight is justice.” Max shook his head again, furious and trembling. “You don’t know anything! You don’t understand—” Before he could finish, the front door opened. Nora walked in, exhausted from her shift at the hospital. She dropped her keys on the table and called out, “Mom? Dad? I’m home—” Her words stopped abruptly.

Her upper and lower teeth were chattering uncontrollably. This person… thing before her… was a monster! How could a human possibly fight a monster? And why did such a monster even exist? The apocalypse was already bad enough—why did monsters have to appear too? "What exactly are you?" Christina roared, summoning the last of her courage. Number 114 thought for a moment. "I am… a monster your dad created." "Ah—!" Christina screamed as the woman plunged a fruit knife into her body, pushing it in inch by inch. The pain made tears stream down her face.

Author POV. At the mall,The heartless monster continues to cause destruction and chaos. He turned the mall into a blood zone,as he feast on the hearts and the blood of the people present at the mall. The cops arrived at the bloody scene and tried to shoot down the monster. "Target sited" "Fire,"the leader shouted. They begin to shoot sporadically at the monster but they drop down as they come in contact with his body. He took a big bus and threw it at the cops, causing an explosion the moment the bus collided to the ground.

I gradually began to feel an itch in my soul. Following the sensation back home, I realized that the power had been cut because the bill was overdue. Everything inside the walk-in freezer began to thaw. Drawn by the sickly sweet scent, rats and cockroaches poured in through tiny holes in the walls. The cloyingly sweet cake was already devoured, but even more cockroaches and rats were gathering inside. I never knew that dead people could look so horrendous. Actually, I had been hiding a secret from Mom. Dad had met with me in private many times.

Nicky had done far worse than just bite me. I looked up and coldly stared at her. "You people are really made for each other." "What's that supposed to mean?" she snapped. "You know what it means," I said, standing up to jab my finger in her shoulder. "You're a monster who beat up my wife so badly that she was critically wounded." Then, I whipped my shaking finger around to point at Nicky. "And as for you, you're a little monster who flushed my wife's ashes down the toilet!"
