Her plan is to find the original copy, if her parents are really Selena and Gavin, then she must be the only one who can find the book because when she held the one that Ferlin gave her, she felt the book refusing her touch, she really was not meant to hold anything except the one that was blessed by the moon goddess, Meiko herself.

She didn’t speak, but the way she looked at Zane said everything. Zane then turned to Cain, giving him a curt nod. He then opened the gift and his eyes widened with surprise. It was a book about animals and fauna in the national state part that was right next to their pack ground. The boy gulped and held his breath as if he was scared to show the full extent of his excitement. “It’s alright, Cain,” Zane said softly, ruffling his son’s hair. “Strength is important, but doing the things we love is important too.” He smiled softly, his eyes watery. “I’m so sorry for losing sight of that.”

Zane was quiet. "He's not the enemy," I said. "He's going to think he is, for a while. He's going to try to be, probably. He's going to come here eventually and stand at the boundary and try to be the obstacle." I paused. "But he sent the book. He found the locked room and he opened it and he sent it to me." "People can be both things," Zane said. "Yes," I said. "They can." I looked at the fire.
