Behind him, Anya waited, coiled like a spring.
The glass gave way with a soft crack. Dimitri pushed through, Anya following. Architect spun, reaching for a weapon, but Anya was already moving. She covered the distance in three steps, struck him across the temple with the butt of her gun. He dropped like a puppet with cut strings.
"Backup arriving," Dimitri said, hearing footsteps thundering up the stairs. "We need to move."
They dragged Architect to the window. Getting down would be harder than getting up. Dimitri was calculating angles when Anya pulled out a compact grappling system, project Seventh equipment, designed for rapid extraction.
