Zhongli X Aether Novels & Stories

The fate of their packs, the Blood Moon and the Shadow Fang, hung in the balance between them, a fragile peace shattered by a single, undeniable truth. They shared a fated mate. Aethyra stood between them, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. She was human, a fact that should have made her fragile, but the power thrumming through her veins was anything but. It was a latent force, a key waiting to turn in a lock. She could feel it responding to them, a searing heat answering Xyrex’s fire, a cool, deep resonance harmonizing with Zhilax’s ice. Their combined gazes felt like physical touches, one hot, one cold, stripping her bare.

He didn't see their expression and spaced out instead, whisking his beer bottle in a lazy circular motion. Vayu cleared his throat and stepped in to explain. "Aether energy is naturally in opposition with nether energy, but the aether in us Twelve Scions are somehow different. Our aether clashes with silverstream as well. They could effectively hurt us just as much as we could effectively hurt them. Lars remembered something from his early Chimera hunting days and said, "Oh, right. I remember you told me that our Scion Force even could purify the silverstream as long we're in Mirepa's vicinity."

I asked, pressing my lips together to hold back a laugh. Valen feigned a wounded expression. “You don’t have to sound so doubtful. The Cidron is a proud artifact. It just… has its preferences. And now that you’re the Aether, it’ll need you.” “Need me?” I echoed, uncertain whether to be flattered or nervous. “Let’s say it’s never truly worked for anyone,” he explained. “Only… harmonized. And you’re uniquely tied to Lyria’s magic, to me. If anyone can bring it into balance, it’s you.”

Dominic growled playfully against her skin. Ahead of them, the path opened into the grand center of the gardens: the Aether-Core Basin. At the center of a circular floating terrace sat an ancient, crystalline fountain that drew pure, unrefined atmospheric Aether Qi directly from the mesosphere, channeling it into a pool of liquid starlight that fed the surrounding gardens. The air here was so thick with natural celestial energy that visible, glowing ribbons of silver, gold, and violet magic floated through the atmosphere like living silk.

The pylon twisted and collapsed, its magical core venting blue flame. Above them, the shimmering golden dome that protected the Spire flickered and died. "Shields are down!" Lucas yelled into the radio. "Alpha, the path is clear!" Ethan heard the call. He saw the golden barrier fall. He looked up at the floating obsidian rock of the Aether Spire. It hung five hundred feet in the air, accessible only by a narrow, winding causeway of floating stones. And at the top, illuminated by the sick green light of the Soul Ritual, he saw them.

It was amazing how much pleasure the shadows could elicit from her. There was a large area cleared for the fight. Alpha Aziel was standing to one side. His pack was not allowed anywhere near him per the Council’s order. Caiathus had already ensured that he would not be able to mindlink anyone. It had been an herb that they added to his food without him knowing. That way he would not be able to secretly give directions to his people.

I won't let him break my family. I close my eyes, praying to the Gods to give me strength! When I opened them a second later, I knew they were purple. I could feel it. The pain! The grief! The power! The Aether. I was Aether! I blur and run to Amaya; pushing her down, I put my hands up. My purple light formed a barrier, blocking the red one. "It's time to play!" I said, letting one of my hands down and offering to Amaya.

Chapter 40: Whispers in the Wind Months bled into years, a fragile peace settling over Aethel. The villagers, no longer haunted by the spectre of encroaching darkness, thrived under the watchful eyes of Evie, Liam, and Xal'dar – the unlikely heroes who had become guardians of the bridge. The emerald glow of the Wellspring pulsed steadily, a constant reminder of their victory and the ever-present responsibility.

she pressed further, and Cleon wheezed. “Where are Mom and April?” he inspected the room. “Tris took them out,” Athena grabbed another cotton ball and pressed the lotion into his face. “Mans a fucking villain, raggedy-ass hulk bitch,” he cursed. Athena couldn’t help but burst into laughter. They both sat there laughing their hearts out. …… “Where is he?” Azazel stepped down his Maserati and buttoned his jacket. “In there, boss,” Ethan stood next to his boss, pointing to a row house.

she says in a pacified tone, but Alpha Azriel says, “I am not hearing anything against her.” My mother's protests falter as she stands before the Alpha, who clearly holds authority over her. I knock inside and enter. Everyone turns to look at me. Alpha Azriel’s gaze, however, lingers on mine, and I am not able to tear my eyes from him. He somehow composes himself better and turns to the man beside him, whom he introduces as Liam, a member of the Royal Pack. “Liam will be accompanying us to ensure a smooth transition for Aysel.”
