I looked around the south wing and it was beautiful decorated with golden curtains and some beautiful paintings of wolves, the paintings were arranged beautiful on the wall, and in the middle there was a large painting of a black wolf howling Infront of a Red moon.

“Exactly like me. Only older. Stronger. What if the academy can't cage him now, Kai? What if this all is feeding him?” He shakes his head. “That’s impossible.” But even as he says it, we both hear it. The groan of the earth below us. The rattle of old chains in the deep. The storm outside breaks open with a violent crack, rain hammering the glass so hard it sounds like claws. The lights across the courtyard flicker, one by one, plunging sections of the academy into darkness. The wards pulse once—then die. The silence afterward is worse. “Kai.” My voice is barely a breath. “Do you feel that?”

"There's a pack world?" "There's a whole society you never knew existed. Wolves living among humans. Packs with territories. Academies that train marked ones. Laws. Hierarchies. Everything." Luna looked at the mark on her wrist. The light had faded to a dim glow. The pattern was clearer now. A crescent moon broken by shadow. An eye at the center. "When do I have to leave?" Her mother sobbed. "Tonight," her father said quietly. "They'll come for you tonight. You need to pack. Not much. They'll provide everything you need at the academy."

Lombardo is numero uno, and whoever says we’re not are the ones who want power change ... traitors ... and you know what happens to traitors?” Shadow was quiet for a moment before he nodded. They all knew what would happen to a traitor, and it’s easy to be considered a traitor in a sensitive time like that. “So ...” Joey slapped Shadow’s shoulder and startled him. “Do you know where we can find these Veronese Monkeys selling the Russian powder?”

“And believe me, they’ll make sure you can still fight like hell while you’re at it.” I tried to act like I wasn’t shaken. Like it didn’t mean more to me than it should have. But deep down, something warm began to flicker in my chest. Maybe this was what belonging felt like. Two days later, we rode north, following the ancient trade road that led to the Academy of the Moon.
