[Juliet's POV] The music at the celebration party continued. Surrounded by a crowd, Alison basked in the crowd's repetitive praises. Suddenly, a deafening boom came from the city walls. Overlapping growls and roars of zombies tore through the atmosphere. Terror erupted instantaneously. People in the crowd screamed, "It's a swarm of zombies! A massive swarm of zombies!" A guard ran over, staggering along the way. "The lightning barrier on the right of the base has been breached. There's a massive gap. Zombies are coming through soon!"

I scrambled to the porthole, my face pressed against the glass, screaming his name into the void. Below us, the forest was a sea of orange flames. There was no sign of the SUV. No sign of the generator. Melanie Vance was gone, thrown into the dark by the blast. I sat on the floor of the rising ship, the silence of the cabin broken only by Florence’s soft, rhythmic breathing. She was asleep. She hadn't even woken up for the end of the world. Julian climbed into the bridge, his shirt torn, his face covered in soot. He looked at the empty seat, then at me. He didn't say a word. He just knelt and put his hand on my shoulder.

​Inside the cradle was a baby with silver hair and one amber eye, holding a tiny, wooden flute. ​"The 401st chapter," Kael whispered, his golden-text skin beginning to flake away like autumn leaves. "It’s not a story. It’s a Life." ​Suddenly, the Respiration’s engines died. The ship began to dissolve into white light. ​"THE END?" flashed across the sky. ​And then, a new line appeared, written in Nora’s own handwriting: "NO. THE PREFACE."

I screamed to the pack. ​We threw ourselves from the Bridge as the spire began to crumble into petals and dust. As we fell, the Sky-Wolves dove from the clouds, catching the exhausted infantry in mid-air. I looked back and saw the Mother-Hive hit the Great Ocean. It didn't explode in a fireball; it hit with a massive, bioluminescent splash. ​As the steam cleared, I saw it: the ship had become a new continent. A massive, green, pulsing island of life sitting in the middle of a dead sea—a sanctuary made from the bones of a war machine.

he turned his head looking out her window and she followed his eyes and immediately began shaking her head. “No, Niarthen, we’re not getting into that water,” she told him firmly. “We are not far from the mouth of the river into the ocean,” his eyes met hers. “The current is on our side. Within half an hour, we will be in the ocean.” “And you will be infected with the wasting illness, and I will turn back into a zombie,” she reminded him. “Not if we find a boat.”

And some took up chains to defend their selves. Yet something happened, that had changed our notion of the white Zombie creatures that we had thought were weak and remained unharmed. We discovered that when you harm one and he made a sound it attracts the others towards your direction. Life inside the ship turned a new leaf from a life of experience o the new world and adventures to survival of the fittest.

I felt our ship begin to capsize as I gripped onto the boat with every bit of strength I possessed, and I knew this was it. Smoke swirled around us, making it difficult to see in the already dimming light, but right as I went to close my eyes for the final time, the image of two massive reptilian shifters caught my attention. A glint of red was the last thing I registered before the ship went down. Icy water drenched us from head to toe, chilling me down to the bone within seconds, and I heard Mari sputtering as she took in mouthfuls of briny water.

It was surrounded by those 'walkers', stumbling around like they were in a trance. "What are they?" He breathed out, staring in disbelief. He chugged some water, letting out a sigh of hydrated relief. "They call them walkers." She pointed the screen down slightly to allow him to see easier and switched to the website she was reading. "There's information on them, finally." As Adam read, she watched his expression change from confused to terrified. "This is like an actual zombie movie." He spluttered, barely able to get his words out. Behind them, a stirring caught their attention.

She clenched her fist and shouted, “How dare you show me your face again! I’ll show you… Humanity will win this war!” The two humanoids looked at each other and their devilish laughs resonated. More trembles and bombs were little by little destroying the ship. It was getting harder to maneuver. The ladies knew that it’s a now or never situation. The one who caused Sarah’s scar waved its hand looking friendly and uttered words hunting them deeper to despair, “We’ll destroy you.”
