Lucia’s jaw tightened.
“My mother,” Severo said. “Latina.”
The name fell between them like a dropped blade.
“When I heard she was dead,” he continued, turning back to Lucia, his eyes dark, steady, burning, “I swore I would repay that debt. Blood for blood.”
Lucia looked away.
She knew exactly how Latina had died.
She said nothing.
Silence stretched… .
Finally, Lucia spoke. “Revenge,” she said slowly, “is a dangerous compass.”
Severo smiled without warmth. “So is mercy.”
