"This frown doesn't suit your fascinating look, Sweetheart," Lara attempted to touch Jack on the chin but he flung her hand from his face, grabbed her by her neck and pinned her to the gate.

I glanced at the clock barely past nine in the evening and let out a long breath that carried equal parts satisfaction and exhaustion. My stage name, “Lara Velvet,” stared back at me from the open laptop on the vanity. Lara watched Roberts speak to Karen and felt disappointed when she found Rachna was in the US, feeling defeated again in their battle of wits. Lara felt a pang of disappointment at another setback.
