The call cut off abruptly. I could feel his anxiety crackling through the static. I pressed a hand to my abdomen. The pain there was nothing compared to the tearing inside me. Hot liquid seeped through the fabric of my evening gown. The agony was so intense it left me numb, sharp and clear. Thirty minutes ago, I'd been ambushed during a Black Hand operation at the Ricci compound. I needed Dante's private seal, the only way to get me access to the family's medical team.

In the middle of the struggle, I was knocked to the ground. "Arthur!" Winona was about to help me up, but Hudson stepped in and stopped her. "Winona, let me." He crouched down as if he were going to help me, but instead, he drove his foot into my waist. A sharp pain hit me instantly, and that was when I suddenly remembered that just one month earlier, I had donated one of my kidneys to Winona. The wound hadn't fully healed yet, and because I had been running around dealing with Annabelle's case ever since my rebirth, I had completely forgotten about it.

And from above I raised my hand and wand; looking down at the opponent I pushed the accumulated power with all my might letting the vice-captain have a taste of her own medicine.

Her knees buckled and she managed to stagger backwards to fall on a chair, letting out a muffled cry.

I asked. “Ava is with Zanicus now, and I bet Sevika is raving mad and probably wants to torture her out of jealousy. That hallucination spell she cast on you will make Ava see you doing something you never will. And one of Sevika’s favorite ways of torture is betrayal,” I pinched my brows, feeling a headache coming on. “How do I stop her?” Syria looked at me. “You can fight her with your magic,” “How the hell am I supposed to do that?”
