George's POV

I kept wondering why my heart was pounding in my chest like someone who was in danger, yet it was a feeling I couldn't explain. A feeling that made me warm and excited? I have never felt that way before.

It wasn't a battlefield I was entering, whereas as a warrior, my blood was hot, and my muscles and senses were active. This was a dungeon. Yet, I felt something I didn't understand until I got inside.

Young, fair, soft, pretty— eyes filled with flames of fire, and her body filled with blood. The Gamma of Red Sky Pack. But right now, I wasn't seeing her as the Gamma, as a warrior, but as—

“Mate,” I almost staggered back at the shocking confession of my wolf. My eyes widened as I slowly stepped closer to the cell.

What the fuck?!

How?

How on earth is my sworn enemy my mate? Is the goddess making a joke out of me?

Years— years, all my life, I have been searching and desiring my mate, and she made my mate my enemy?

“Do not touch her. Do not touch our mate,” Laine groaned. I was conflicted as I stood in front of her bloody, beaten flesh.

I did this, I ordered her to be beaten.

Once the warriors returned and informed me that they had captives, and mentioned the Gamma as well. I was more than delighted to instruct them to torture the Gamma till he spoke.

First of all, the Gamma is a girl, and second, my mate.

I watched her mouth moving, she was saying words, speaking about how she has information and she's willing to tell if I let her warriors go.

My heart breaks for her. My eyes scanned her body whole as I wondered how much torture she had received in my name to finally wish to confess.

A Gamma has been trained to withhold pain. She was going to confess because we had broken through, and that was supposed to excite me if it were someone else hanging right here in front of me.

Her hands were tied upwards to the roof with chains made from wolfbane. She has been injected with wolfbane also. She cannot shift, and neither can she mind link anyone. I did this to her.

“I am Kyra Dew, the Gamma of the Red Sky pack, and I am willing to give you all the information that you need. Just let the rest of my warriors go.”

Her voice sounded like a sweet melody to my ears, and her accent made me dream sweet dreams while standing. I could picture us living life as a perfect couple together with the most beautiful children running around in this pack. My pack.

As she spoke, as she pleaded, her voice kept making my heart palpitate. My fingers clenched because I was trying so hard not to touch her soft cheeks.

“Release every one of the Red Sky Pack's soldiers and let them go,” I ordered.

“My lord?” They gasped, wondering, asking themselves, staring at each other, if they had heard me correctly.

I watched her also. Her eyes went wide, she was staring at me like I was a ghost or I had grown two heads. But why should she? She is my mate. And I'll do anything for my mate—or else…

My eyes widened as they snapped to stare deeper into her eyes. I moved closer to her.

She didn't seem to notice. She didn't react to it. Does she know…

I moved closer to her until I was a few inches from her. I held her chin, lifted it, and looked into her eyes.

No way!

That damn Red Sky Pack! She's immune. Immune to feeling or sensing her mate. Why would they do that?

“Alpha,” Felix called, and I blinked. Kyra lifted her head, staring at me with deadly glares, but I turned from her.

“Remove the chains. Take all of them back to Red Sky Pack. Leave this one,” I pointed at her.

They began to unchain them when I turned back to her, “See, we're setting them free. Give us the information that we need.”

“You think I am a fool?” She asked, her hands still hanging up, making me uncomfortable, but I tried not to order her release, also. “How am I sure they will get to the pack?”

“I am a man of my word,” I told her.

“I don't believe an enemy one bit,” she spat, and I almost choked. Fierce one. Huh?

“You're the one in chains, yet you're the one giving the conditions. I said you have my word.” I walked around her. The clothes she wore had been torn by the whips. My jaws clenched. I wish to kill all those who did this to her.

Yes, I gave the orders, but I wish they hadn't followed them.

“I will speak when I know they are safe back at the Red Sky Pack,” she stated, and I chuckled,

“That will be a loss on our part if you no longer give us the information we need,” I responded. This is war. Does she think we're in some beauty pageant?

“You have my word,” she smirked.

“Oh,” I stood by the side in shock, she was using my words right back.

I walked closer to her again, closer than the first. A few movements and our noses would collide. We stared at each other, her gaze held mine. I observed— observed if I would see something… anything, but no. I didn't.

“Fine!” I murmured before turning away from her, “I'll be back tomorrow. They should be back at Red Sky Pack before then.”

“How would I know they have arrived?” She asked.

“You'll mind link one of them. Then you'll know.”

“Alpha George—”

“I know what I am doing, Felix,” I stopped Felix before he could finish his statement.

“Of course,” he replied with a bow.

Kyra nodded, and so did I, before turning to leave. I got to where Felix stood and patted his shoulder,

“Unchain her.”

“My lord—”

“Do as I say.”

  • MATED TO MY NEMESIS    Chapter 27: Nosy Kyra

Kyra's POV “This is the room you'll be staying in,” the maid said as she opened the door for us. Sir Smith and Lena walked in first, while I followed behind. The room was a large one, bigger than the hut we lived in back in the forest. The room was beautiful, and there was another door by the side which I assumed to be the bathroom. There were two large windows, in case we needed to escape. A table at the other end of the room and a mirror on it. Lena squealed, “The bed is huge.”I giggled at that, “Of course, it's huge.” The bed was huge, but not as big as Roan’s bed. Royalty and living in luxury. I shook my head at the thought before turning to look at Sir Smith. What does he think? He had an emotionless look on his face. He stood there, staring around.“What do you think?” I asked him and he turned to me. Then shrugged. He had more words to say, but didn't make me scoff. I saved his ass and he hasn't thanked me for that yet. He walked over to the table and hung his sword be

  • MATED TO MY NEMESIS    Chapter 26: A Red Sky Member

George's POV I paused as I listened carefully to what Kyra was saying. Well, that made sense because we have searched again and again for that pack. I have sent some people to search for the pack. And one reason I had set those warriors back then free when Kyra asked me to was because I had sent spies to follow them secretly. Those men came back with a very unpleasant report. “They disappeared,” they mentioned, and now I understand why they seem to have disappeared. This time, Kyra was telling the truth. But what exactly did these people do to her for her to sell them off like this? “We don't believe you!” Felix blurted out before I could speak. Kyra shrugged, “That's your business. Let's get out of here.” She turned to Sir Smith and Lena, the little one. I watched them all turn to leave. My guards stood on guard, waiting for me to give the order. But I'm not planning to give them orders today. “Wait!” I stopped her. With gritted teeth, I stated, “You can stay for a while with

  • MATED TO MY NEMESIS    chapter 25: The Alliance

Kyra's POV Roarrrrrr! The loud roar caused everyone to move backwards. Carefully dropping Lena. I turned to the guy with the axe and roared again. I had expected to drop the axe, but he only stepped back. Eyes on someone else. I followed his gaze, and my brown eyes met his. Alpha George. He was on his feet now. His gaze was locked on me. Was that a smile I saw on his lips? I felt a stirring in my stomach, and I felt it hard. Strong and raw. I was going to ask Alice what was wrong when I heard it, Mate! My wolf rang in my head, and I staggered back. At that moment, the scent I had followed down to the pack square became different and thick in the air. It became sweet and intense. No. It can't be. Alpha George, this beast that tortured me and is on the verge of killing Sir Smith, is my mate? How? Never. I watched the man come down and walk towards me. Everyone was quiet, my eyes narrowed as I took a step back, not knowing what to do. He wasn't scared, he wa

  • MATED TO MY NEMESIS    Chapter 24: To Kill a Traitor

George's POV “I know what I am doing?” I hissed at Felix, who was clearly getting on my nerves. He was upset with me for what I did back in the cell yesterday, but I apologized. He wasn't having any of that. He was firm with his words, “You have to decide whether you are for your mate or for the pack, Alpha George.” The way he called Alpha had a bit of sarcasm in it, but I didn't ignore that. Again, I mentioned, “I know what I am doing.” “You don't, George. You clearly don't know what you're doing. The best way to get the truth out of someone like that is to beat it out. And you stopped us from doing so. Fighting everyone in the process”. His eyes shooting daggers at me, he asked again, “You have to tell us if you are for the pack or for your mate!” “Of course, I am for the pack. Do you think I am a fool to trust my mate?”“Oh, spare me that bullshit!” Felix growled, “You don't only trust her. You will kill for her, and if not properly handled now, you'll die for her!” “What

  • MATED TO MY NEMESIS    Chapter 23: Rescue Mission

Kyra's POV The black vision began to slowly fade away. I could hear a voice calling out to me. A very gentle and calm voice. Sweet and melodious, pulling me out of the darkness. I was eager to get to the voice, and once I opened my eyes, I saw Lena standing beside me, yelling at the top of her lungs.“You better wake up!”The sweet and melodious voice I was hearing in my dream wasn't as sweet as I thought because she was literally lashing out at me. “Calm your horses, darling.” She blinked. “Kyra?” My lips spread into a wide smile. Her eyes widened as tears rushed down. She jumped into my arms as she cried. I winced in pain, shifting my body to the side, but didn't really have anywhere to escape to. “What took you so long to wake up?!”“Why did you sleep that long?” She cried louder, but I struggled to bring my hands out from the sheet, and Lena's heavy body wrapped it around her. She was crying so loudly, and my heart ached for her. I had asked them to come with me to Moonshin

  • MATED TO MY NEMESIS    Chapter 22: Confused

George's POV I beat myself. And I couldn't stop blaming myself as I stood in front of the bed where she lay. She looked innocent, her eyes closed, calm and still. Only her chest was heaving up and down. She was asleep. The little girl was quiet. She would, once in a while, go to Kyra and place her tiny finger under her nose to confirm if she was still breathing. It was a beautiful sight. Yet, I felt bitter. I spent almost every year of my life waiting and looking for my mate. But she was with another man, bearing a child with him. I don't even know if that was the least problem in my mind right now, because I have just been told that my mate may no longer be able to carry a child because of the cold torture we had given her the first time she was captured. Of course, I knew that was it. It had to be it. Those idiots had come to inform me that the wolfbanes were empty. I was shocked how it was empty in a short period of time, only for them to explain that they had used it all of
