Cynthia Dion:
"This mansion is huge," Mara commented as we stood outside like idiots.
The ongoing party was making me anxious. I know Enzo doesn’t respect me, so walking into his home and talking to him when there are so many people present could land me in trouble.
"Let's go," I said as I held her hand and walked through the gate, fear in my heart.
I wasn’t here for myself. They have dragged my sister into this mess, and I needed to fight for her.
I took Mara down a corridor, expecting to find Enzo there for some reason.
It was probably because it wasn’t as crowded in there as it was all over the mansion.
"Why are we in this corridor? I doubt we'll find him here," Mara grumbled, gradually freeing her arm from my grip and refusing to take another step.
"I just need a moment to catch my breath," I lied, trying to conceal the fact that my wolf had detected the scent of my mate here--my other mate!
"Seriously? Why don’t you just--," she paused as we heard some noises coming from the room next to us.
I knew it. There was no way my wolf had led me here without reason. She had already sensed the unease of something strange happening with our mate.
With a trace of curiosity, I cautiously peered through the partially open door to catch a glimpse of the inside, only to be met with a heart-wrenching scene.
Their lips were barely touching, Atticus and Rosalie sitting in uncomfortably close proximity.
"Oh, Goddess, what the heck?" Mara whispered behind me, clearly taken aback by the sight before us.
The sight in front of me caused my eyes to well up with tears. Atticus sat next to Rosalie, and her hands cradled his face as they shared a tender kiss.
I was a spectator to my mate's involvement with someone else, an image that felt like a premonition of my demise. Why was he so hesitant to acknowledge me, yet so deeply entangled with Rosalie--who was simultaneously involved with his best friend?
"I'm just tired of all this," Atticus said, pushing her away with a sigh that carried a sense of desolation.
"I think we should go now," Mara whispered, pressing against my elbow, her anxiety evident that we might get caught.
"Cynthia!" she hissed. "Okay, I'm leaving. I'm not getting into trouble," she added and didn't waste a moment before briskly parting ways with me.
"Why does anything matter when you have me?" Rosalie murmured, cupping his face in her hands, attempting to kiss him once more. Although he was drunk, he remained conscious enough to actively participate, his energy unhampered. Her efforts to console him only added to my discomfort.
That was the breaking point.
How much more did I need to witness before understanding that he would never accept me?
He was well aware of my vulnerable wolf, and yet his consistent infidelity was a painful stab to my heart. Despite this, he continued his promiscuity, a clear indication of his disregard for me.
His alpha status granted him privileges. His capacity to feel pain was not as acute as mine. There was no one I could be with to inflict the same pain on him.
"Ah! Spying on an alpha? I didn't expect you to stoop so low." Enzo's gruff and taunting voice cut through. He forcefully swung the door open, positioning himself behind me before I could even turn around to confront him.
As Atticus became aware of my presence, he distanced himself from Rosalie, his expression morphing into a frown. Rosalie appeared infuriated.
"She was spying on you two," Enzo repeated, propelling me inside with a push. Despite my attempts to protest and navigate past him, he persisted, maneuvering me until I was cornered between them, my back against the wall.
Tears welled up at the brink of my eyes, and now I had to confront them. If only I had heeded Mara's advice and left earlier.
"What's happening?" Atticus rose from the couch, adjusting his jacket and pointedly avoiding eye contact with me.
"She was standing here, silently watching you two engage in your make-out session and crying," Enzo remarked casually, crossing his arms over his chest and sporting a nasty smirk.
"I was walking pa----st---," I mumbled, keeping my head down as I struggled to form a coherent sentence, my voice quivering with distress as I fought back sobs, overwhelmed by misery.
"But why are you even here?" Rosalie leaped off the couch, nudging Enzo aside to confront me head-on. "You little piece of shit! Why the hell are you tailing my friends?" she screamed with intense anger, her fury on full display.
Known for her overprotective and possessive nature toward Atticus and Enzo, she was letting her emotions run wild.
"Let’s not cause a scene," Atticus interjected, attempting to pull her away, but her aggression propelled her back toward me once more.
Anxiety swelled within me, and I felt compelled to defend myself. With every shove that pushed me against the wall, I battled the urge to retaliate. The fear of her two friends, who might retaliate in turn if I dared harm her, kept me restrained. It was disheartening that my own mates were more concerned about her well-being.
"I need to leave," I whispered, my gaze still lowered. As I took a tentative step forward, Rosalie forcefully pushed me, this time with such intensity that I involuntarily flinched and trembled.
"Rosalie!" Atticus muttered, though his objection lacked conviction.
"What? Why the heck is she always trailing after you?" Rosalie's voice erupted in a yell. "This whore needs to quit snatching what isn't hers!" Her words were accompanied by a forceful slap to my head. The surge of anger within me was overpowering.
I refused to cower any longer under the influence of my mates' opinions. The humiliation she was subjecting me to in front of the entire gathering prompted me to orchestrate her downfall in front of the same audience.
"What isn't meant to be mine?" I challenged, lifting my head and locking eyes with her. A crowd from the party had gathered by the door, enjoying the spectacle.
"I think we shouldn't waste time on her," Enzo grasped my implication, his apprehension stemming from the possibility of his fated mate being revealed as not just a rogue omega but also the mate of his friend.
"Why? Because you're scared I'd reveal the truth?" I scoffed, wiping away my tears and standing my ground this time.
Atticus ran his hands through his hair, while Enzo's jaw clenched as he signaled me to cease speaking. Rosalie shot them a look before refocusing her attention on me.
"What is she talking about?" Rosalie inquired, her breaths coming heavily.
"Nothing! She's just--" Enzo started, attempting to pull her away, but she forcefully disengaged from his grip, keeping her gaze locked on me.
"Explain what you mean; what am I unaware of?" She yelled at me, her eyes welling with tears at the mere notion of the two alphas keeping secrets from her.
Her fixation on my mates bordered on obsession.
"They don't belong to you," I declared, standing tall. "They are my fated mates." My statement left her dumbfounded and the two alphas incensed.
Cynthia Dion:It’s been two years since that unfortunate event happened.Maleeka couldn’t accept that she could no longer force Zeon to be with her.Atticus finally cleaned Eva’s grave, cleared her name, and even buried Zeon next to her. We also renamed the specific block in school to be Eva.I do think that day when I was cleaning in that block, it was Eva’s disturbed soul still wandering around.Maleeka was in the mental asylum, showing no signs of improvement. Atticus made it very clear that even if Maleeka gets better, she will be severely punished. However, things have changed in our relationship as well.We were not only two, in fact, we have welcomed a cute baby girl into our lives after a few months of that whole sad incident. We named her Flora."Flora! Stop running around," I rolled my eyes at her as she ran into Niles, Rosalie, and Enzo’s son.We have gathered around my father’s pack that I’ve recovered to celebrate my pregnancy news with my people."So, how did it go?" Att
Cynthia’s POV:As he finished telling us why he did all that, our faces changed colors. My eyes were teary, and the counsellors looked guilty, too.Maleeka had been breaking down after her dirty criminal history was displayed to everyone.I didn’t even know what to say anymore. The story of Eva and the horrible life she had because of the mean and selfish people around her was so bad.The fact that my mother didn’t even help her out and let the poor victim take a fall broke my heart.I know she was thinking she was doing it for me and Flora, but to push someone else’s daughter into such a shitty situation just for the sake of your daughters is not an excuse. Not to mention, I wonder if what Flora and I went through our entire lives was our mother’s karma, and maybe Eva’s broken heart cries are shadowing our happiness."Zeon!" Since Atticus couldn’t even say a word, I whispered in tears, "I understand your pain and Eva’s suffering, but hurting others wouldn’t bring her back. You can le
Author’s POV:Years Ago:It’s been a month since Eva passed away on the school grounds, and Zeon killed those rogues. Rowdy was the only one that survived, but he went into a coma after that night.Zeon had no clue what to do because it seemed like everybody was more focused on the ones that got killed than on Eva."She was innocent," he yelled at the counselors, who shook their heads at him."We will call our first witness here, who will explain to us how Eva had been clawing at the other boys and meeting them in the library." The elder of the counselor spoke as he pointed at the door. All eyes turned to the door, waiting for this so-called character witness.Zeon didn’t have a very good feeling about it. It seemed like something bad was about to happen. Why did they even need to have an investigation?A she-wolf got gang raped and killed. Why were they investigating her? It was beyond his mind, and he was just plain hurt and lost. There was nobody on his side. He was suffering and w
Author’s POV:Years Ago:After that day, Zeon and Jacque were escorted out and even got detention. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Nothing happened to Maleeka; the guards were even assigned to her to stop Zeon from coming after her.She would go to school every day and watch Zeon and Eva together. She was not at all satisfied with what she had done; in fact, if Eva were still alive, she would consider herself a failure.Although she was surprised to hear Eva get pregnant again, And this time, she couldn’t even get near her because all the eyes would be on her."This is the girl," she had asked for some rogue criminals to meet her after school."She is beautiful," there were five rogue young boys, probably 19, the same age as them."She will be alone in the school today, doing some assignments in the library. You can enter the school and get your hands on her. Listen, her mate will be there, but you can take him out with wolfbane. Remember, you are not supposed to hurt h
Author’s POV:Years Ago:"What do you mean by she stole your mate? Zeon is her mate. That’s what everybody knows." Mrs. Dion, who thought of Maleeka as this innocent and sweet little girl, was ready to accept any lie she was going to tell her."She was the second chance, mate. Zeon accepted me two years ago. We used to be together; we were never separated, and then i--- then I got pregnant with him, but during that time, she joined school. She caused my abortion. I know it is not an excuse to do the same to someone else, but think of it as your own daughter. You have a little daughter that you gave birth to with so much difficulty. Can you imagine anyone hurting her? Just imagine what I have been through." She sniffled as she shed crocodile tears. She was sneaking glances at Mrs. Dion, too.She wanted to get out of this mess by any means."I am so sorry that happened to you, but I still have to tell the counsel about the video. You can rest your case before them. If you are innocent,
Author’s POV:Years Ago:"How the hell did it happen?" Ever since Zeon got informed about Eva’s accident at school, he has been wandering in the school’s hallway and crying.Jacque and Bonnie had been sticking with him and feeling worried about him.He was in disbelief that such a horrible thing happened to Eva on the school’s grounds."There is no way she just fell off the stairs," he shook his head, not ready to believe what the school staff has been telling him."I understand your concern, but getting all stressed out won’t do anybody any favors," Jacque stepped forward to comfort Zeon, who was going crazy worrying about Eva.Bonnie and Jacque were worried for their friend and Zeon; they had never seen him so stressed out. On the other hand, Maleeka had returned home but was a little panicky. She has hurt Eva before, but this time she was directly involved. It just made her feel a little stressed. What if somebody saw her? It happened in a school, so there was a huge possibility so
