Tony Woods's POV

I could recall getting into a huge fight with my son because he kicked against my marriage to Angela.

He tried to make me understand that Angela never loved me, but I ignored him, saying he was drunk.

My ex-wife said the same thing. Unlike my son's advice, My ex-wife revealed how she had caught Angela flirting around the city with numerous guys.

Did I listen to her?

Of course not.

What did I do?

I called her a jealous fellow.

I accused her of trying to sabotage my marriage to Angela because I ended things with her.

Seven years later, the warnings from those who mattered to me are starting to haunt me.

Back then, I gave a thousand reasons I wanted to get married to Angela.

But today, I can't even speak up to save my life.

“What are you talking about, Marcus? Why would you ask me why I married Angela?” I sparked outrageously at Marcus.

I tried to act tough and pretend that what he said never mattered. But deep down, I cared the most.

I maintained a straight face to avoid showing my weakness.

“You just gotta see this,” Marcus passed the phone to me easily.

My hands shivered as I attempted to receive the phone from him.

I was this close to falling to the ground due to how clueless I was.

A while ago, I was yearning to see the message that popped on Sean's phone

But now, I don't even know what I want anymore.

I might as well be the most clueless person that ever lived.

Slowly, I summoned the courage to glance at the phone, and behold, what I read nearly plucked out my eye sockets.

“Angela wants you to murder Paul and Susan because she's scared that they might expose her to me?” I asked a shocking question.

I had to return the phone to Marcus. I couldn't trust them in my care anymore.

“Paul and Susan.

Who are they?

What are you talking about?”

Officer Patrick asked.

He was the only one who seemed lost among us.

He can't seem to have a clue who Paul and Susan are.

I let out a deep breath and faced the ground to hoard my shame.

The day hasn't ended yet, and I've been through a lot.

My ears have heard enough lately.

I feel like donating them to a charity organization.

“Paul is my nephew, while Susan is my son's wife.” I paused.

I couldn't get myself to speak further. Telling them how Angela tried to seduce Paul is like rubbing my face in the mud, and I wouldn't want that to happen.

I am yet to recover from the mess caused by Sean and Angela.

Telling them about the latest one would surely break me.

“You know what?

Just forget about it.

Take Sean to the station.

Ensure he confesses all his crimes.

.

I'm sure he's hiding more,” I told Officer Patrick with a faint tone.

I was gradually losing strength. I could collapse should I attend to spend another second outside.

I was about to leave for my car when Officer Patrick called me back and forced me to a halt.

I frowned as I turned in his direction. “What's it this time? Can't you see how exhausted I am? “

“I apologize for the stress, Mr. Woods.

What if Angela calls back? How do we handle the situation?” Officer Patrick asked.

His question made me more angry. He sounded like a novice.

That single act from him downplayed his last few hours of heroics.

Disappointed to hear him ask such a question, I sauntered to him.

He edged backward and made an upraised arm with the intention that I was going to hit him.

“You're a cop, aren't you? You fucking know what to do. Don't ask me silly questions,” I spoke in her face.

One more provocation from him and I'll spit in his face.

I walked back to the car and Marcus followed me.

He got inside the car rapidly before I had the intention of leaving.

I rested my head on the steering wheel and sobered like an agonized widow who lost all her late husband's wealth.

Hey," I felt a pat on the shoulder.

Without checking who it was, I already knew it was Marcus.

“You can't continue like this.

You need to fight back

You certainly can't let her win.

It's one thing to be let down, it's another thing to bounce back.

Think about it,”

Marcus said to me before walking out of the car.

He left me alone to navigate my way around.

I wasn't even paying attention to him.

I didn't bother asking for his return.

A few moments later, I heard the sound of a car departing the company's premises.

Like a certified loaner, I was left all alone on the company's premises.

If I wasn't the CEO, the security would step forward to walk me out for trespassing.

It was the longest I've stayed in the company.

And it turned out to be for the silliest reason even.

I had the impulse to check into a hotel or spend the night inside my car.

After everything I'd heard about Angela, I didn't envisage myself going home anymore.

Let alone, living in the same Mansion with Angela.

The thought of her poisoning me to death scared me.

Without any reasonable doubt, I knew death was inevitable.

However, what hurts the most Is getting killed by a familiar face, knowing that you could have done something to stop it

Where I was, I had completely lost it. A part of me left.

It turned out to be my confidence and self-awareness.

What I felt inside of me was emptiness.

I didn't see myself going back to winning ways anymore

While trying to find my balance, I heard my phone ring.

I ignored the call because I didn't want to speak to anyone.

The call kept coming in and curiosity took the best of me.

I wanted to know what time it was.

At the same time, I wasn't inclined to answer the phone.

Eventually, curiosity works.

With a slight glance, I checked the time and the call came in again.

My heart skipped when I discovered that the caller was Angela, the devil that had become the talk of the whole day.

I needed to be certain that I wasn't imagining things that weren't real.In a delicate situation like that, the last thing I'll consent to is jokes or pranks.“Of course, I did, Tony. You weren't the only one who heard the voice. It is safe to say that your ears lead you in the right direction. Let's listen to what the son of a bitch has to say,”Marcus replied.I was relieved by his utterances. It confirmed that I wasn't losing my mind after all.Patrick stepped forward. He stood before everyone to ensure he was closer to Sean than any of us. “Start talking now! This is your chance to make it right again. Tell us what you know about Angela's whereabouts. And don't you dare miss out on any details,” Patrick ordered Sean. For a moment, I was impressed by his moves. That was the only sensible thing that has been done over the last couple of hours. He's going to do something crazy," Officer Patrick instructed his other officers.Instantly, they stood before me and formed a shield to block my exit.Soon, Patrick joined me as he panted heavily. I gave him the run of his life that he would never forget rushing. “What's the meaning of this madness, Patrick? Have you suddenly lost your manners? Is this how you treat a man of my age?Tell them to get the fuck out of my way before someone gets hurt," I demanded.I used my age as an advantage to get past the officers, but I failed. The officers in front of me were ruthless. It was as though Patrick had cast a spell on them, that made them obey his command without grudges.“This ain't got nothing to do with ageYou brought this upon yourself. Are you starting to hear things that aren't real?” Patrick mocked me. He didn't think I was telling the truth. “Have you forgotten the reason we are here? Let's go inside quickly before she escapes,” he urged me, but I refused. I was resilient and focused on my instincts. “I might be old, but certainly not dumb or stupid. I knew what I heard. That was Kelly's voice,” I challenged Patrick.I didn't allow him to control my thoughts. I left the doorway and strolled around my mansion, trying to trace the voice I heard. “Papa, please come,”I heard the voice calling me for the second time. I traced the voice to the garage and saw Angela and Kelly seated inside the car. I tried to get closer to them, but she drove off. I didn't try to run after the car, knowing it would be pointless to do that. For the second consecut

Tony Wood's POV“Where's Angela?Where's Kelly?” I popped the question without a direct lead. I was hoping that someone would sacrifice themselves to speak up.“Oh, shit. She fucking escaped. How did this happen? Where are the fucking nurses?” The doctor screamed. He slammed the wall to demonstrate his rage. He was about to leave when I held him back. “Where the heck are you going?”“What the heck is this? Let go of me,” he requested.“I want to summon all the nurses to know who was on duty,” he explained.I was ruthless!I refused to let him go, knowing that he was the reason for Angela's escape. If he hadn't hesitated when I called for her arrest, Angela would be sleeping behind bars already.“Oh, come on, Tony. You know I have nothing to do with this. I was only trying to protect the image of my hospital,” he claimed. That was the lamest excuse I've ever heard. The excuse made me even more angry. I wasn't conscious of my act anymore. And the next minute, I was already draggi

Tony Woods POV“Are you sure you are ready for this moment, Mr. Woods? I want you to take your time and reflect on it before coming up with a decision. What I'm about to disclose might sound partially devastating and heartbreaking to you. And I am sure you wouldn't want that for yourself. Remember your health status. I don't want to be the one to escalate your blood pressure,” The doctor retreated just when he was on the verge of disclosing my son's test results. It wasn't a question I found quite intriguing. But somehow, I was able to control my rage. “Really? Are we going to do this all day? Come on, Doctor. I am not interested in any of your jokes. Just hit the nail on the head.
