Janet’s POV
The loud music filtered in the air as young wolves both male and female danced and merry drunkenly.
I was at the counter, drowning in alcohol with Pamela and Steven beside me.
“You don’t have to get drunk, babe,” Steven muttered lovingly.
“I have to. I have to! I can’t stand the fact that they disapprove of our relationship. It’s been four years!” I cried out bitterly.
“Take it easy, Janet. I will also try to talk to your parents, Steven is a good man and has always been there for you.” Pamela’s cool voice resurfaced and I smiled.
“You are the only understanding friend I have. They are making us troubled and believe me, Steven and I would have been married by now.” I faced him sadly.
“I think I know a way to get them to accept us,” I whispered flirtatiously, drawing my face closer to his.
“What’s that?” His eyes widened, looking clueless.
I tried to connect our lips but he blocked it with his hand.
“Keep talking…” He didn’t let me kiss him and I found it cranky. He would always allow this, why now especially when Pamela was with us?
I didn’t take it to heart, I just laughed it out and staggered.
“Get me pregnant or let’s elope!” I spilled bluntly and he choked, coughing and Pamela followed suit.
“What? Why?” I looked at him in confusion. Was it a sin to get me pregnant?
We have been dating for too long and I was afraid we might get tired of the whole troll.
“You are drunk, babe. Let’s talk about this when you sober up.” He said calmly.
“I’m sane, dear. I know what I’m saying. The only way to get their acceptance is to claim me and let me bear your pup. I’m willing.” I said anxiously and he shook his head, aiming to drink but the glass was empty.
“I… I will get us a drink.” He broke the awkward silence, I couldn’t help but nod like a fool.
“I will join you, Steven,” Pamela said.
“I will…” I hadn’t completed my statement when both of them hurried into the crowd.
The place was too dark and it was hard to see them through the crowd. While I waited for them for what seemed like ages, I pondered if I had said the wrong thing to my lover.
Wasn’t it the right thing if he really wanted us to be together?
They didn’t come back and I staggered back home alone with the hopes that there might be a reason behind their close-up.
“Where do you think you are going?” My mother’s thunderous voice echoed in the living room as soon as I stepped in.
I was dressed in an all-black bodycon gown.
“Mum…” I trailed off sadly.
She knew where I was headed but only wanted to make it look obvious.
“She asked you a question so you should respond promptly.” My father barked as he sat beside her on the old armchair.
They seemed prepared for me this morning.
“Steven and I have to finish a mission given to us by the Alpha.” I came up with an excuse but they smirked, shaking their heads.
“Really? Is that all you got?” My mother curled her lips while staring at me.
“The Alpha went hunting for one week now, please, which mission are you talking about?” My father asked mockingly while wiggling his brows.
“Dad, the thing is…” I hadn’t finished my statement when my mother shunned me.
“We know you are going to meet with the Alpha's son again and our response is no.” She crossed her arms.
“Sweetheart, believe me, Steven is capricious and only using you. He doesn’t love you at all.” I rolled my eyes, having this here-we-go-again feeling because I had heard these words a lot from them.
“I don’t doubt his feelings for me because he loves me as much as I do, Mum. Please, can you and Dad accept him?” I pleaded sadly.
“Janet, I have seen several Alphas and their sons, and also know the cunny ones. Do you think Steven will accept a wolfless woman like you? Let’s not talk about the fact that he isn’t your mate!” My father tried not to be angry but I could sense annoyance in his voice.
There was no way to go back now. I started this journey of love three years ago and I wasn’t planning to end it.
“But, I love him.” I made a comeback.
“Is that why you didn’t come to the meeting yesterday and forfeited your position for someone else?” My mother asked angrily.
“Mum, I don’t want anything. I just want Steven to be happy and be beside me. That’s all I ask for.” My eyes had already started gathering tears as I spoke.
“Oh c’mon! Don’t be stupid.” My father growled.
“We have been having this conversation for ages, don’t you think it’s time to accept him and do what your child wants?” I asked with a brief pause.
“We love ourselves, can you just let us be?” I asked dolefully.
“You are only becoming nothing and getting used, daughter. When he dumps you, you will be nothing but a broken Omega. Can’t you understand your parents' fear?” My mother had always been the emotional type so it was even harder to hide those tears.
“No, mum. It is time that you and Dad understand me too. I’m hurt.” I gritted my teeth seriously.
“Since this is what you want, I can’t have an abomination as a daughter and I will have to do what I want.” My dad's cold voice evaded the room, facing me with his back.
“What do you mean?” I asked, raising an anxious brow.
“Your name will be removed from the family register, you are no longer a part of the Kingsley family.” He spilled seriously and my mother seemed to be in line with him as her face became stoic.
“Dad…” I knew they could be a thorn in the flesh but abandonment was too much.
“Since you can do without us, get out! We are no longer your parents!” My father’s words echoed in my ears as I stared at them in mystery.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t control my heart from beating or my leg from moving - I chose love over my parents.
Janet's POV We arrived at the house and the guards were looking so confused. " What are you talking about? They were under your care, what the hell is going on?" I was so confused. " This happened last night, they left last night and this morning, I could not find them, the door was not locked as well, I do not know how they got out of the cage" he said. I was so pissed, he was meant to look after them and right now, it was like he had helped them escape. I slapped him. " You have to provide them, I do not care how you do it, you have to" I said Berrent held me back and helped me back to the house. I know I was going to cause more harm to them. " You have to calm down," he said. That was all he was going to say at first, he was always saying that in difficult situations like this. " I hope you do have a fix for this, I hope you can locate where they are" I said. He sighed. " I had no idea when they left but one of the guards helped him escape and it was not the one you sl
Chapter 139Janet's POV He grabbed me right from the door, I had texted him that I was on my way to his place. He pulled me in a hug at first, then brought me to his bedroom. " I thought we were to have a conversation first?" I said. I wanted this so much but there was something else I wanted to talk about before anything with Berrent. I know how he can switch from wanting this to not wanting to hear anything about it. I know how hard it can be trying to talk to him and to make him see reasons why he should let me have him to myself once again. He frowned, he did not want to but I did know that this conversation we are about to have was very important to me. " Are.you sure about what you are getting into? Are you sure it is what you want?" I asked him. " I am very sure about it. I did not want this in the first place, and now that I do want it, it is for real. You know that when I say I am certain about something, I am" he blinked his eyes at me. I was not satisfied with the a
Janet's POV " I'm sorry, I can not do this right now, I need to find my parents, my mind is messed up" I said. "I understand you but I want you to trust me, I know what is going on and I want you to believe it when I tell you that your parents are safe, they are only waiting for you to give up the Pack which you do not want to do, you want to fight for it" he said. I decided to believe him, besides, I will need his help to fight them. I was not going to fight them on my own. " I love your eyes," he said. " Did Lisa ask you to tell me that?" " Stop, don't be silly," he smiled. Then went ahead to kiss me passionately. He was soft and treated me like I was going to run away from him if he did not do it right. I loved his lips, it was soft and inviting. This was what I have been wanting for so long and he has never given to me. His hands found their way under my dress, I wanted more. He placed me on the table that was behind me and had his way in between my legs. I wrapped my ha
Janet's POV I was already scared, from the way she looked at me, I knew that something was wrong and there was nothing I could do about it. I was scared for myself. " Tell me what has happened, no matter what it is" I begged her. " Your parents are nowhere to be found. They have been searching for them. The guards that were asked to protect them are all dead" she said. My knees began to feel weak, my eyes were dull as well. I swallowed and held the door so I would not fall down. " What are you saying? What do you mean by that?" I asked her slowly. My voice was fading and I felt like I was drowning. " I went there to see them and I could not find them," she said. The guards are dead? What the hell was going on? Kevin said he was going to get my parents killed, it was just hours ago and now, I do not know who he is talking to and who is doing all the things that he wants. I was weak but I was sad too. I was hurt and angry, I lowered myself to the ground and just had to stay t
Janet's POV It got me upset that they were not scared of what I was going to do. They were not scared of what I had done to them, they were not also scared of what I was going to do to them. " I am going to do more things for you, you should get prepared for it," I said. Sara was not moved, she stayed adamant and not willing to get scared. " I want to speak with you," Berrent said, looking at Kevin. " What do you want to talk about? I have no business with you and I do not want to talk to you about anything" he said. " You have no choice, I am the one who can leave here, you are not allowed to leave, you are going to sit back there and listen to the things that I have to say. You have to hear me out no matter what" he said. " I do not want to hear what you want to say, but since I am here already, I am going to do that" " Okay then, we had a talk about the oil yard and I came to let you know that I now have the keys to it, I now have the keys to the oil yard and even the paper
Janet's POV We returned to the Pack after that. His head was not with me, Berrent said he wanted it so I let him have it to himself. The Pack was now mine and I now had two Pack, but it was just stupid because I never intended to have two Packs to myself. I want Berrent and he was not interested. " Do you want more packs?" Lisa asked me. " Never, I do not want that" I shook my head. " Maybe you should get things straight with Berrent, so you two can have the Pack to yourself" she said. She did not have to go ahead and mention his name. I was hurting and I needed to clear my head. My wolf seemed to be weak as well. " I want to be left alone, I do not want to see anyone or talk to anyone" I said." Why do you want that for yourself? This is not the time for that and you know it, it is not going to go well with everyone in this Pack" " I am trying to be fine, I am going to be fine, I just need some time alone, that is all I ever asked for" I went to my room and made the bed a
