I Am Your Shield And Your Sword

She looks up at the man who is standing in front of her with a frown on her face.

'Did he say he's my butler? What ages is this? Do people still hire a butler nowadays? I thought when he told me a butler, it'll be an 'assistant' or something like that.'

Seeing her confused expression, he coughed a little before saying. "Madam, I am your shield and sword. Anything you want me to do, I will do without any question and doubt. You can trust me and order me around." He kneels before her, just like a knight kneeling to his master. A few bystanders who are also waiting at the waiting room surprised by his behavior. They all looked at the girl on the sofa.

'Holy shit! What is he thinking? Kneeling and saying those misleading words??' She screams inside.

"Oh! Please stand up. Don't kneel down there. People will talk bad later." She suddenly feels like she wants to jump from the sofa where she sat right now.

"Ah... also, please don't use any honorific with me... Just call me Rin is okay." She said again. Just when she wants to say something, the operating room's door suddenly opened by a few nurses and doctors. All of the eyes at the waiting room focus on the doctors with nervousness. Thinking maybe one of their family was just done with the surgery.

"Is patient Hai Yun relatives are here?" said one of the doctors in the waiting room.

"Here! I am a patient's relative." Hai Rin stands up and walks toward the doctor with Andy Lu follow her from behind.

"Let us discuss it in another room." The doctor then led them to another room that is not far from the waiting room.

"Miss, I'll be honest with you, if you don't mind."

"Yes, please do so." Hai Rin clamps her hands together while waiting for the doctor to explain about her grandmother's condition.

"Your grandmother's age factor causing a big risk in this surgery; however, she still survived from the critical phase for now. She will be wake up soon and need at least 3 months of recuperation. She can't lift or do any heavy works and anything that can trigger her into a shock. I suggest you start to find someone who can take care of her if you are unavailable to attend to it." The doctor glance at the man behind her.

"Yes, I understand. Thank you, doctor, for your hard work."  she cupped her hand into her face and felt a bit relief.

"You're welcome. Now I'll take my leave first." He nodded and walked away toward the door. Before he steps out from the door, he turned around and said.

"Young man, as a husband, you must stay and support your wife through everything from thick and thin. Don't let her wear out." The doctor smiles and turns around back.

Hai Rin was dumbfounded when she heard the doctor's word just now. Did the doctor thinks Andy is my husband? She also looks at Andy's face. His face turned a bit pale than before.

"Why? What happened?" she asked curiously.

"No. Nothing." He shook his head, worriedly. 'I'll be damn if he knew someone calls his wife is mine.'

"Don't worry, I'm not telling him. You said I can trust you, right? So, you need to trust me too." She patted on his shoulder and started walking out of the room. Andy Lu follows her from behind quietly.

After she settled everything that needs to be taken care of, she looks at the man who walks at her side.

"Andy, it's late now. You can go back to your home. I'll still need to see my mother at another hospital. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

"I'm sorry, Madam Rin, but I can't let you go alone. It's my job to take care of you. I'll send you to the hospital. Let's go." He led her to the car park and opened the car passenger door.

"Erm.. thanks. And Andy, just call me Rin, okay?" She then sat at the passenger seat. She's too tired to argue with him. After all, he was just doing his job. So it's not a big deal for her.

At the Mental Health Hospital.

10 minutes drove from Princeton Hospital, they finally arrive at Mental Health Hospital. Hai Rin looked at Andy and said. "You can wait for me here. It won't take long." 

Andy Lu nodded his head and watched Hai Rin go inside the room at the corner. All the nurse looks at him with an excited face.

"Who is he? He's so handsome."

"Didn't you see he's coming with Miss Rin, he must be her boyfriend."

"This is the first time I see Miss Rin coming here with a man. She must be lucky enough to have such a handsome boyfriend like him. Ohh... I'm so jealous.."

"Hey, aren't you already married. Why you want to get jealous?"

"Why not? Sometimes I also want to refresh my eyes by looking at a hot guy, you know..."

Andy Lu hears what other nurses said about him and Hai Rin, but he's not giving any thought about it. As long it's not disturbing his work, it's doesn't matter to him.

Inside the room, Hai Rin caresses her mother's hair gently. Hai Yin already asleep when she comes to visit. She then kisses her mother's forehead. The person who raised her with all her love, even though she's mentally sick because of her father, she still treats her good enough as a mother.

Just because her grandmother getting old and can't take care of her mother while she was working to earn money for their household, they had to send her to this hospital. Here, she can get better treatment and care. She's not wandering around and lost like before.

Hai Yin felt something soft was touching her forehead, and she opens her eyes slowly. She saw her daughter pretty face and smile lovingly at her.

"Rinrin..." she said softly and tried to get up from the bed. Hai Rin helps her mother to sit in a comfortable position.

"Mama, I miss you." She said with a gentle voice, and she placed her head at her lap.

"Mmm... Rinrin, did your papa coming as well?" she caresses her hair and starts to look at the door.

"Papa... He said he's quite busy today. I promise him to take care of you while he was away." She just blurts it out.
