DAPHNE'S POV

"No." I shook my head.

Taking advantage of Theron’s surprise at my answer, I stepped back, putting distance between us. "I won't let you use this situation, Theron."

"Rejecting me once again?" His lips pressed into a thin line. He crossed his arms over his chest.

"I won't mind doing it several more times." I took a deep breath. The air around us felt increasingly heavy.

"Reason?"

"I've re-evaluated my goals. I want to care for and protect my small family. I can sue Lyssander for fraud or marital infidelity. We will divorce peacefully. I don't want to make a scene."

My cheeks burned. Doing that felt cowardly! But it suited my current situation. As the eldest child in my family, I had to act with reason, not instinct.

"You'll regret this, Daphne. The offer still stands; I'll be waiting for you to come and discuss it further." He tilted his chin at me before walking past me toward a different exit.

Unconsciously, I followed him, just to see which room he was going into. Or... who he was with? What did it matter to me who he was with?

I wouldn't let him use my momentary weakness to drag me into his fantasy of revenge. The fact that he had become an Alpha at such a young age was already intimidating enough.

It would be terrifying if he was right! I wasn't sure I could face Lyssander without tearing his throat out. Thanks to crying on Theron's shoulder, that urge had subsided a little.

Thinking about that, my hand automatically swung up to slap my own cheek. "Stupid! Why did you do that?"

Everything was clear now. I should leave this place before the atmosphere here tempted me into falling for the nearest man. The dance floor was less crowded now; a couple was making love on it, but it wasn't my husband.

Perhaps he and that bitch had found a room to play together. I tried to suppress the thought, but it still made my stomach knot in pain.

No matter what he had done, and even after running into my rejected mate, Lyssander was still my husband. How could one stop loving someone in such a short span of time?

As I reached for the doorknob, a pungent scent rushed into my nose. It made me sneeze.

"You're Lyssander Callistos's wife, aren't you?" a woman's voice rang out.

I turned to look at her. She was wearing nothing but sexy black lingerie, and on her belly was a viscous liquid that I did not want to identify.

"What is it?" I asked, crossing my arms and lifting my chin.

The girl swept her gaze from my sweatpants to my t-shirt, her lips curling in contempt. "Why is he so obsessed with you?"

"Because he's my husband, obviously."

The girl’s eyes widened slightly before she let out a laugh. "Right. Your husband has a very talented tongue."

I gritted my teeth, trying not to attack her. "Who are you? What do you want?"

"Melantha," the girl replied. "I want you to leave Lyssander. Stop clinging to him like a heavy burden."

"I believe that is a private matter between my husband and me, not worth a prostitute's interference."

Melantha growled. The growl echoing from her throat made me realize she was a werewolf. Right, that was why she was spraying such pungent perfume. She wanted to distract me.

"You're a werewolf?" I asked, taking a deep breath.

"Don't change the subject. I won't let Lyssander go; it took me a long time to hook him. You should retreat before you lose everything, Daphne," Melantha warned.

"I’m the one who should be saying that. I’m his wife, after all. I never blamed you until now, Melantha. I blame my husband for being a bastard, but I don't blame you if you're just doing your job. However, when you stand here and say those things... it really makes me reconsider."

I shook my head slowly, trying to stay relaxed as if I were in control of the situation.

I tilted my head to one side, a smile playing on my lips, and spoke with confidence.

"He played you, he played me, and now you’re fighting over a man who uses you like a toy? Melantha, wake up. He's just a client; that's it. Don't get too attached."

"Unless that client just bought me a house and promised that he would move in to build a family with me."

That information slapped me coldly in the face.

All the pretense I had maintained until now vanished. I was on the verge of fainting.

"It's a suburban house with an ocean view. A two-story house, very spacious, with furnishings designed perfectly for a family," Melantha smiled mockingly. "You're the toy, not me."

Contrary to Melantha's foolish confidence, another problem, far larger and more serious, took shape in my mind.

Where did he get the money to buy that? We weren't struggling, but we clearly didn't have enough money for him to buy a house for a mistress. Our current house was in a middle-class neighborhood with significant unpaid debt.

Where did he get the money for a house? Was it my money?

That was my money! If he used my money to buy a house and put it in his name... I would lose all of it. I needed to see my lawyer immediately.

When I turned to leave, Melantha pulled me back. "Wait, I'm not done."

"I am!" I shouted, shaking her off.

She suddenly pushed me hard, triggering my aggressive instincts. I bared my fangs and lunged at her. I sent her flying straight into the wall. I had created a mess, drawing the attention of others.

"Mel!" Lyssander called out, rushing to Melantha. She stood up weakly, leaning against him.

"Lyssan, she found out... she's going to kill me." Mel burst into tears in Lyssander's arms.

My husband froze, slowly turning his head toward me. His eyes were filled with rage.

"Oh, darling husband, I'm the one who should be angry." I smiled, intentionally baring my sharp fangs.

DAPHNE’S POVI slept in Theron’s bed last night. My senses confirmed it, but what truly woke me was his kiss. His naked body pressed against mine, pinning me firmly to the mattress. His lips were warm and powerful, pulling at mine. His invasion was so intense that I could hardly breathe.Alright, it was strange that an Alpha like Theron would treat me as if he desired me to the point of madness. It wasn't as bad as I had thought. When he finally pulled his lips away from mine, he stared at me with a cold expression. “It’s time to wake up.”“Okay.” I remained motionless for a second. “You’re still pinning me down.”“Alyssa is here. She’s in the living room. Clean yourself up quickly to talk to her.”I hated the way he gave me orders. Before, when I was just a regular member of the pack, I was fine with hearing the Alpha command me like that. But after my time with Lyssander, I loathed these kinds of dictates.“You should still let me go,” I reminded him.“Don’t. Even. Think. About. Run

DAPHNE’S POVThere was always a silent sea watching over me. It was Theron’s eyes.My knees pressed into the mattress as I leaned forward, my hands grasping his veiny rod. My mouth opened, slowly taking it into my throat.Theron let out a hiss of satisfaction.Taking a deep breath, I let it slide down my throat. My cheeks hollowed as I sucked firmly. My hands toyed with it like a favorite soft toy.Theron’s hands wove into my hair. The way he groaned let me know I was doing well.Giving someone so much pleasure that they moaned your name always brought a sense of ultimate victory—as if you had conquered them. The dildo between my legs was now only vibrating at a faint rhythm. Clearly, Theron didn't want me to reach a second climax and accidentally bite him there. It was even more special when he began to lose control because of your mouth. My hand began to stroke more vigorously. My tongue swirled around the length of his rod. Theron was gradually peaking. I could feel it through the

DAPHNE’S POVI opened the door to my house, carrying my remaining bags, and stepped out.“Let me help.”Joe spoke up, taking two cloth bags and a suitcase. He paused and asked, “Was there someone in your house?”“There was a guest, but he just left,” I replied nonchalantly. I didn’t want Joe to know about my injured friend. If that man had wanted to make new friends, he wouldn’t have gone into hiding like that.As Joe carried the luggage out, I looked back into the house one last time. It was the home I had been attached to for the past three years; unfortunately, I hadn't even had the chance to say a proper goodbye. I reached out to turn off the lights and whispered, “Please flip the circuit breaker when you leave. Thank you.”I locked the door. I stared at the bunch of keys for a long moment before tucking them into my handbag. I would have to return them to Lyssander if he won the lawsuit. Seeing him again made me want to throw the keys away, just like throwing away all the respons

DAPHNE’S POV Having not seen him for a few days, Lyssander looked more haggard than I remembered. His blond hair was longer, disheveled, and matted. Stubble grew sporadically on his chin, giving him a bizarre appearance, and his gray eyes held a distinct wildness. His clothes were somewhat rumpled, but so were mine. I was in no position to judge him."Is he your new lover?" he snapped at me the moment he arrived."Did you walk here, Lyssander?" I crossed my arms over my chest, meeting his eyes with a defiant gaze."I asked you... is he your new lover?""What is it to you?""I’ve seen him, so don't try to hide it from me. He’s the guy you met at the club and followed all the way here, isn't he?" Lyssander seemed to be trying to learn how to growl like a werewolf. However, he couldn't; his voice only grew hoarse and sounded desperate."Lyssander, what is going on?""You don't need to know.""Then I'm going inside." I turned around."Don't," Lyssander called out. "I just need you to tel

DAPHNE’S POVEverything seems to pass once you realize there are so many problems left to solve in your life. After having writhed in agony and misery because Theron had abandoned me, I had to remind myself that I still had a family behind me. I couldn't cry like a child over something so trivial.Taking out my phone, I called Daven."Daphne?" Daven answered."Pick up my car at Aethelion Group. Then come to our old house to pick me up, okay?" My voice trembled. Every word I spoke made my throat burn."Why are you there?" There was suspicion in Daven's voice."It’s a long story.""Does it have to do with Theron?""Daven, just come get me!"I hung up. I quickly cleaned up the items Theron had left behind. My parents shouldn't know what was going on between us. I hid the items in my room, hoping my mother wouldn't decide to show off her cleaning skills, find them, and die of a heart attack from the shock.Once finished, I received a message from Daven, "The gatekeeper won't let me into t

DAPHNE’S POV"Round two. It’s been a long time since I..." Theron trailed off."Since you what? Missed me?""Yeah." I had the feeling his face had darkened, but it was clearly not visible. Perhaps it was just the shadows of the house. He carried me up to his old room. He had said he’d cleaned it up, and it was clear he wasn't lying. My room was still spotless. The mattress and bedsheets were exactly as they were when I lived here, only newer and crisper. He laid me on the mattress. My hand brushed against my mint-colored bedsheet, recalling the bloodstain from the night we discovered we were mates. I didn't know when it happened, but he was holding a handheld massager."When did you buy that?" I frowned as he flipped me onto my side on the bed."At the shop." Theron turned it on, wedging himself between my legs."Oh my god, Theron. You really have a lot of tricks." I widened my eyes as he skillfully managed our position. He knelt while I lay on my side. One of my legs was pulled strai
