They sat and watched the lights continue to move among the trees. Most of the movements were slow and cautious, but occasionally, one would suddenly dart in a direction and jerk to a stop. Two more times, a light went into the air and came back down, cutting a tree down when it did. Finally, after about thirty minutes, she saw several vehicles coming up behind them. It was Monday morning, and Lindsay was pulling her car into the parking lot at the sheriff’s department. She looked at her watch and saw that it was not even 6 a.m. yet, over two hours early for her scheduled workday.
