My nerves were on fire, making me itch all over. I couldn't sit still. Sitting in the kitchen at the table, glancing every few seconds to the clock on the stove. Those two hours of waiting to head over to Tawnya's house were unbearable. Jumping at every little noise. A few times I could have sworn, I heard the roaring of his truck's engine pulling into the driveway. With my pace quickened I had headed into the livingroom. Peeking out from behind the black satin curtains. My eyes rapidly scanning from the driveway to the curb sitting out front of the house. Breathing out a sigh of relief, that my mind was only playing tricks on me.
I hated that I couldn't even enjoy the time of being by myself. My anxiety consistently sky rocketing making me feel tired and sick. Worried when he might show up. My life was an neverending nightmare, reliving flash backs on a daily basis of the torture he put me through. Everything in this house was a reminder of the pain I went through and still going through. This house was my personal hell. I was so caught up in my thoughts, that I hadn't realized what time it was until I heard the high pitched beeping of the timer going off causing a quiet yelp to leave my lips in fright. Grabbing my back pack I swiflty turn off the timer and quickly made my way out of the house. Cutting across the grassy yards I run to the front door ringing the door bell. Nervously tapping my foot, glancing up and down the road as I wait. The last thing I needed was for him to come home and see me standing here on Tawnya's porch.
I was grateful when she soon answered the door jestering for me to come in. " Hello again Jasmine, thanks again for helping me out tonight," her sweet voice says to me as I walk inside. " It's no problem at all Tawnya, I love hanging out with Tasha she's really great company," I respond to her with a big smile. " Tasha is currently in the livingroom watching one of her Barbie movies, I left forty bucks under the cookie jar in the kitchen on the counter for whatever you girls decide to order for dinner, as always the emergency contact numbers and mine are on the fridge next to Tasha's pictures," she tells me happier then before. Nodding my head at her as she goes over everything. " Hoepfully I won't be home to late, I know tonight is a school night for you. If you want I can call your dad for you and let him know I can give you a ride to school in the morning, sense you will be staying over," she suggests to me while grabbing her phone out from her purse.
Cringing at her words I quickly shake my head side to side " No thats okay, I already left him a note letting him know I will be home before school starts so he can still give me a ride in the morning," I tell her in a flat tone, hoping she coudn't sense the worry laced in my words and she wouldn't push it any further. " Okay dear, well I'm going to head out now and if you can manage it please try to have Tasha in bed before nine. She needs her beauty rest or she will turn into a little monster in the morning," she grumbles, sounding like a a ferocious beast. I laugh heartedly at her actions. She was one of the sweetest moms you would ever meet.
Following Tawnya into the livingroom her sweet voice rings out " Hey honey, Jasmine is here, so I'm going to leave now sense you have your partner in crime here," Tasha's head snapped back to where me and her mom were standing. A huge smile spreading across her face as she stood up from the floor running over to me and sqeezing my legs. " I misst you Jazzy!" she squeaks out to me with her face squished into my thigh. Chuckling " I missed you to very much T, but can you let go of my legs before we both go toppling over to the floor!" She lets go of me and quickly moves jumping into her moms arms. " I love you sweety very much and please show Jasmine those wonderful princess manners you have, and I will be home later to give you your goodnight kiss," Tawnya sweetly tells her daughter giving her a big hug. " I love you to mommee, I will, Jazzy is my fay vor it," she tells her not sure how to pronounce favorite but she gives it her best try. " If you need anything please don't hesitate to call me," she huffs setting T down " I swear if she gets any bigger I won't be able to pick her up anymore," she giggles.
" We will be okay here I promise, plus me and T can have that tea party now," I say smiling down at her as she hugged my leg. " You should probably get going so your not late," I bellow out seeing that it was now six forty five. " Oh my goodness your right!" Tawnya shrieks realizing what time it was now too. " Bye girls I will see you both later," she said, rushing out the door.
" So what would you like to do now?" I asked Tasha. " Finish movie and then tea party," she quietly says walking back over to the spot she was sitting in before. She glances back at me smiling, then turning her attention back to the movie. I stride over to the love seat plopping down. She was watching Barbie and the Pop Star Princess. I actually liked this one. We both sat there not saying another word watching the movie. When the credits started rolling Tasha quickly jumped to her feet speeding down the hallway to her room. Soon reapppearing with her small tea set carefully placing eat piece on the coffe table. " Would you like to have cookies with our tea?" I ask her, seeing her face light up at the mention of cookies. " Yes! Yes!" she squeals out at me. Laughing at how excited she was. " Okay you finish setting everything up and I will go grab us some yummy cookies really fast from the kitchen," my voice softly tells her.
Shuffling through the pantry when I here the door bell ring. I pause momentarlily thinking that I really didn't hear it and continue to search for the chocolate cookies I know Tasha loves. When I hear her small voice yell out to me that someone was at the door as I hear the door bell ring again followed by someone lightly knocking on the door. We hadn't order dinner yet and Tawnya never mentioned anyone that was suppose to stop by. I start to panic, thinking he must have figured out where I was. My heart hammering in my chest as I make my way over to the front door. T coming out of the livingroom to see who was there. I quietly peer through the peep hole, only to see that no one was standing there. Confused I look back at T and then through the peep hole one more time. But still no one was standing on the porch. Taking in a deep breath I open the door very slowly peeking out between the small gap. When I notice out of the corner of my eye, a medium size white box, wrappped with a beautiful baby blue bow on the concrete porch attached to ribbon was a note with my name on it written in cursive.
The engine roared to life as Mrs. Mullberry turned the ignition, quickly slamming the truck into drive has she hit the gas jolting me back into the seat. Making my heart race even faster from the sudden movement. I couldn't help but glance at the side mirror, waitng for his face to appear once more. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that he knew I was in the truck and now it would only be a matter of time before we would get caught, because all he had to do was relay the message that he saw Mrs. Mullberry driving away with me in the truck to the social worker and the cops would be alerted to find us. Even as my heart pounded in my chest as all these thoughts raced through my brain. Only one kept pushing to the front and that was I needed to get away from Mrs. Mullberry and fast, before they caught up to us. There was no way I could let her go to jail over helping me. She was to good of a person, to be locked away, She had a full life ahead of her to be able to help so many more people
Small beads of sweat, began to form across the top of my forehead as I sat silently, listening to the conversation Mrs. Mullberry was having with the unknown person on the other side of the phone. I tried not to squirm as my anxiety sky rocketed at the mention of my name, making my heart skip a few beats. A stern look took over her features as she furrowed her eyebrows. " You got to be fucking kidding me! So your telling me, he called Child Services on me and now the same social worker from before is on her way over to my house right now to pick up Jasmine..... all because he told them he was afraid I was going to attack him!" she yelled, jumping to her feet as she quickly ran over to her livingroom window and looked out. " I swear he is the biggest piece OF scum on this earth, he's not even man enough to come and pick her up himself! Mmmhmm, yeah, I think I just might do that, sense he's clearly not bold enough to come pick her up by himself and face me. The social worker can't take

Luckily my step father never returned Mrs. Winters phone call. So Mrs. Mullberry decided to take me home with her after she left a message, explaining what she was going to do and that she would drop me off, as soon as he was there to help me inside. I honestly don't know why she thought he had any shred of decency left to ever help me. Maybe she wanted to truly believe deep down, that because the school was aware of my injuries, that just, maybe, it would give him the push to try and take better care of me..... I shook my head side to side, freeing the unrealistic thought from my mind. Already knowing in my heart that would never, ever, be the case, ever again. He hated me, because I reminded him of her and because of that, the last place I needed to be, was any where near him in my current state and I was surly going to try my fucking hardest to find away to keep myself far, far, away from him. My supposedly good knee swayed under the weight of my body, trying to b
Students and teachers started to pour into the hallway, trying to figure out what was going on after Mr. Wiser started frantically screaming for help. I let my body slowly side down against the brick wall slightly jolting at the cold from the tile floor as it seeped into my bottom. I sighed in relief that help would soon be on it's way. Still my brain chose to remember that frightful morning, I had woken up feeling the sticky sensation pulling at my skin as I tried to lift my head off of my torn blanket. I had laid in a pool of my own blood. Blood, there was so much blood and now the boy who I had just met two days ago now laid on the white tile floor as his own blood seeped down the side of his face staining his beautiful golden locks. I watched as what seem liked hours slip away, people passing by in front of my eyes disapearing to reappear further away. The gentle touch of someone, rubbing my arm, cuppled with the numbing ache in my butt. Brought me back to the reality of
My whole body was filling to the brim with dread, as I passed through the wooden doors and into the office. Seeing Mrs. Mullberry and Mrs. Sanchez both standing at the front desk. I watched as Mrs. Mullberry nervously strummed her fingers acrossed the top of it, making my stomach sink. She usually was only here in the mornings or if.... I didn't even get to finish that thought before I heard her voice squeak out " Oh my goodness there you are my sweet girl," as she came rushing over to me crushing me in a bear hug. " Mrs. Mullberry, I can't breath," I try to squeeze out. " Oh! I'm sorry sweety, I was so worried about you when I didn't see you and your step father sign in this morning," her words were frantic and laced with so much terror. I was thankful for her, even though at times I thought she was a bit over dramatic.... Nevertheless, I understood her fear that her words were coated with. As soon as she released me, I quickly scanned the office making sure he wasn't here. M
