Chapter 6

“Is that so?” Sophia smiled gently and softly. “How’s Christina now?”

John sighed. “She looks like she’s having a hard time.”

“She still hates you, right? Is it our fault that we dragged you down, John.”

“Don’t say such a thing.” He sat straight on the couch. “Christina didn’t hate me as she did before, and she even eats the food that I offered her!”

Sophia's smiley expression did not change. “Then why didn’t you bring her back? I haven’t seen her for such a long time.”

“It’s not the right timing, and she’s still harboring anger. I’ll do it slow and steady.”

His expression was heavy. “Sophia, you must show more care toward her when she’s back home, you must be considerate even if she has a bad attitude.”

“Don’t worry. I understand.”

He looked at his daughter again. “Serena, Christina has suffered a lot all these years. You need to compromise and not fight with her, and you must be patient with her bad temper.”

Serena nodded. “I understand, daddy.”

Sophia wanted to say something, but she did not. Then she glanced at her daughter. “John, Michael and Serena’s engagement ceremony is approaching. Will she be uncomfortable if she knows about it?”

“We can’t blame Serena for this. I’m the one that you should blame. As for her, I’ll convince her, so don’t you worry.”

Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. “I’m afraid it will be hard for her.”

John’s eyes were filled with guilt, and after a long time, he uttered, “Sophia, I’ve prepared a will, and most of my assets will belong to Christina, as compensation. What do you think?”

“John, I’m not with you because of the money and Serena won’t compete with Christina either. It’s fine for you to make the decision, we won’t have any objections.”

Sophia readily accepted it. Although the Garcia family was wealthy, it was nothing when compared to the Larson family.

If his daughter could marry into the Larson Family, would their savings really matter? Only a fool like Christina would give up the position as Missus of the Larson family.

“Daddy, I’m satisfied as long as I can marry Michael. I don’t care about anything else.” Serena made her statement very clear, and she understood her father’s decision.

He was touched when he knew his wife and daughter were so understanding. “I’m sorry for asking so much of you.”

Serena said with a serious look, “As long as Christina is willing to come back, as long as we can live happily together. It’s worth it, no matter how hard it’ll be for me.”

John felt even more sorry for her daughter. “Serena, I’m not that busy for the time being. You’ll make an appointment with Michael. I’ll go meet with the Larson Family’s elders, and we’ll settle your marriage.”

“Thanks, daddy!” Serena and Sophia exchanged looks as their eyes were full of excitement.

Christina was taking a bath in the bathroom, and she did not notice her phone was ringing outside. When she came out of the bathroom, her phone ran out of battery and shut down automatically.

As she thought Matthew was going to meet with his girlfriend, they had to be having a good time together. He would not call her tonight, so she did not turn on her phone and went to sleep.

After a long day, she was exhausted, and she had a good night’s sleep that night. The second day, she was dazed as she woke up when her uncle knocked on her door.

“Rise and shine, Christina. Go eat your breakfast and off to work.”

Christina got off her bed, cleaned herself then had toast quickly, and headed to work.

The bus had not arrived when she reached the bus station in front of her house, she turned on her phone and immediately, ten missed call notifications popped up on her phone. It was all from Michael’s driver.

“Miss William, why didn’t you answer the phone yesterday?”

“I’m sorry. My phone died.”

The driver spoke with bitterness, “Master had a car accident in front of your house. He’s in the hospital, and you must hurry.”

“Accident?” Christina was frightened. “How’s he now? Is it serious?”

“The doctor said he’s alright. However, Young Master said you’re in big trouble! You must come quickly.”

Christina did not wait for the bus. She hung up her phone and got into a cab as she told the cab driver the address of the hospital.

She ran into the medical ward panting heavily. and saw Matthew’s head was bandaged while he was staring at her fiercely.

“President Matthew, how’s your injury?”

“You still have the audacity to ask me?” He pointed at her and scolded, “Nothing but trouble! Christina, you’re nothing but trouble!”

Matthew was extremely irritated. He had kindly sent her all the way home but ended up hitting Michael’s car, and he almost died.

He had even reserved a hotel room yesterday, and it was all messed up by her.

Matthew was ticked off, and he vented all his anger on Christina.

She lowered her head and silently listened to his scolding. Anyway, it was like water off a duck’s back.

Matthew scolded her until he had no more strength to continue, then he touched the bandages on his head, and he felt a twinge of pain. “Stupid, why are you standing there? I’m hungry, go buy me breakfast!”

“Oh!” She dashed out.

He was very picky about his food. His food could not be too cold, too hot, too sweet, or too spicy.

Christina had been taking care of him for two months, and she knew what his appetite was, so she took a cab to the nearest café.

Half an hour later, she went back to his ward with all his cravings.

He looked at her and thought.

‘This specky girl must be sent by God to punish him. Ever since he met this girl, everything around him has gone wrong!’

He had to think of a way to show her some attitude and let her know who was the boss!

Christina did not know what he was thinking. Then, she set up a small dining table on his sickbed and placed the breakfast in front of him. “President Matthew, please enjoy.”

He snorted and did not move a muscle. “My hands are hurt. You feed me.”

She was shocked. There was nothing inherently wrong with feeding him, but the main thing was, she was a girl, and it felt weird for her to feed a boy.

Forget about it. Matthew was hurt because he sent her home, so Christina showed him some affection.

Matthew planned to make her embarrassed, and he thought she would refuse to do so, but he did not expect her to pick up the spoon and fed him.

At first, Matthew was shy too, but after a few tries, he found that he enjoyed this sensation and ate quite a lot.

At such a close distance, the scent of the four-eyed girl flowed into his nostrils, and it smelled good, but he did not know what the brand of the perfume was.

Matthew was staring at her pretty face, and he suddenly felt that she would be drop-dead gorgeous if she did not wear spectacles, right?

Her skin was silky-smooth and milky-white, her long lashes were long, and even her nose and mouth were so delicate which made him want to kiss her.

Matthew was excited when he had such a courageous thought.
