Lunaya.

Once Tobias was done dressing her, he tucked her into the bed, pulling the covers up to her chest. He peeled his own soaking t-shirt from his massive frame and sat on the edge of the bed. He gingerly placed his hand on her stomach, then he sat silently and stared at her. I watched her as she lay completely still, with only the small movement of her chest going up and down with each breath. After a few minutes, Tobias’s deep voice whispered,

“She turned to the darkness. I could not stop her, and I could not bring her back. She was almost lost to it”. I didn’t respond, just listened as he explained.

“The black magic was consuming every part of her. Every part” Tobias whispered as his hand moved in a slow circle over her abdomen. I know of the darkness. It is a big part of the stories and training passed down from our ancestors. Throughout history, only one Triple Goddess has been completely lost to the dark side. She lost her Mate and went mad with grief. It took a lot to kill h

Whiskey. As I stepped out of the room, the sound of a woman shrieking from above me filled the silence and echoed through the building. I laughed out loud again and turned for the stairs to the bottom floor. I suppose the woman is awake now and my little plan worked perfectly.I went down the stairs and paused at the bottom. There's no chance that anyone still alive in this place didn’t hear the gunshots and screaming, surely they would have come running if there were. Humans are dumb, for some reason, these ones run towards the sounds of danger, not away from it. But just in case they were trying to hide from me, I focused my hearing and listened. I could make out the faint sounds of heartbeats. Three different rhythms, belonging to three different people, one of which was racing, the other two were slow and weak. I stepped around the corner with my Sai blades ready in front of me. I walked cautiously down the darkened hallway. This part of the building was made of mostly stone and b

Whiskey.I could hear footsteps approaching quickly. Only light footsteps, so either a female or maybe a child. A body came around the corner and into the doorway, without hesitation I threw the blade across the room. It hit the person in the chest and sent them tumbling backwards into the hallway. Great. Everyone is going to know I'm here now. I jumped up and over the bodies and stopped before I went through the door. Another set of footsteps were running down the hallway towards me, the owner of the footsteps was screaming out something I couldn’t translate. I stood back against the wall next to the door and waited. The person stopped at the body in the hallway before checking the room. Rookie mistake. Always check your surroundings. Assess the danger first. Confirm the kill second. It’s basic knowledge. And kind of essential. Because why this dumb idiot was checking the dead person in the hallway, I slipped through the door and plunged my other dagger into the side of his head. He

Whiskey. When no one came, I dragged the big guy from the doorway and propped him up against the wall. I checked the hallway was clear, then closed the door and moved on to the next room. It must have belonged to the big octopus, the door was wide open, and it smelt like him. I was about to turn away when a glimmer from something on the bedside table caught my eye. I hesitated for just a second, but my curiosity got the better of me. I dashed over to the small table and picked up the item to inspect it. It was a folding knife with a gold dragon melded into the handle. Pretty. I slipped the knife into one of the pockets of my pants and went back to the door. The hall was still quiet, so I assumed no one else had heard the commotion we created. I moved to the next room and found both a woman and a man sleeping in the same bed, naked. They had their arms and legs wrapped around each other and the woman had a peaceful look on her face. If I wasn’t so infuriated by the sight, it might have

Whiskey.I stepped out of the door and onto the narrow walkway. There were more doors on either side of this one. Probably more bedrooms. It’s a little after three in the morning, so I assume everyone is sleeping, those of them that aren’t on night patrol. Opposite me was a waist high wooden railing. I stepped forward and looked over it. I could see parts of the second floor and another set of stairs that I assume lead to the first floor. I'll get to that soon. I have to clear the top floor first. I crept along the wall, keeping far enough back that I couldn’t be seen by anyone who happened to look up from the second floor. At the next door, I paused and listened. I could make out some soft snoring, and only one heartbeat. I carefully pushed open the door and stuck my head in. One person was asleep on their side, facing away from the door. I ducked in, went to the side of the bed and looked down at the sleeping being. The man was older looking. No hair on his head but had a full beard

Whiskey.I searched the village before it got too dark. It was only a small one. I'd say home to maybe less than sixty. Well, it was home to them, not anymore. I did manage to find the pack library after a bit of ransacking. It was quite small, but the books and scrolls were very old, the oldest one dating back six hundred years. It was a journal kept by an Alpha at the time. He had decent handwriting, though my old Russian was a little rusty, so a lot of the text was a mystery to me. The yellowing pages were filled with pictures, diagrams, and detailed notes. One word stood out among the rest. Boginya. Goddess. I read through the journal a bit more, until I was fully satisfied. This pack have definitely had contact with the Moon Goddess or at least one of her descendants. I slipped the journal into my bag to go through it more thoroughly another time.Having a heightened sense of smell is usually a great advantage, but when the bodies start to smell, it feels more like a burden. The

Whiskey.Broken art, furniture, and stuff that could only be described as scrap was now strewn all over the floor. Two of the walls had been completely blown out, exposing the outside world, and the roof seemed to be hanging lower than before. Fuck. Now I’ll have to find somewhere else to sleep tonight. Me and my fucking temper. All because of that stupid useless symbol. I growled and huffed as I stood upright.I began to trudge through the debris and made my way back outside. I remember seeing another semi decent looking house not far from this one, I suppose that will have to do for now. At least until I find where they keep their records, and then I can get out of this shit hole. I made my way back through the village towards where I spotted the small house. As I walked through the clearing, a far-off howl broke the silence. I stopped in my tracks and searched the surrounding trees with my piercing gaze. The forest was thick, and the setting sun meant it was getting dark. But my se
