Being back in the True North felt like being back in the devil's Den. The first water wolves she had encountered were those guarding the borders of the Pack, and one of them had run off to alert the Alpha of her return.

Right now, she was being escorted by two other warriors into town.

Rhiannon's shoulders hunched low as she walked, her clothes looking old and torn. She limped with every step, her skin filled with old and new bruises. She looked so pale, like someone who had been starved for warmth and sunlight.

She looked broken. Amelia's spell clung perfectly to her skin.

The Townspeople all stared at her, their collective gasps passing through. She could hear them much better with her somewhat improved wolf instincts.

“She’s alive…” someone whispered.

“She’s back,”

"Thank Goodness!"

They sounded shocked and relieved, but it would be a miracle to have only good comments about her.

“Impossible!”

“Not after this long!”

“She should have been dead!”

Wolves pushed closer to see her,

"Layla, please, I'm so sorry for lying to you!" Rhiannon apologised with teary eyes as she rushed forward to catch up with her best friend, but Layla had already stepped into her room and slammed the door shut. "Please," Rhia touched the door, her voice shaking, "I couldn't...I didn't know how to tell you. God, Layla, I didn't just know how!"Seconds ticked by before Layla's aggravated voice came from the other side, "So you decided to lie to me instead?"Rhia's breath hitched, and she pressed a fist to the door, her heart racing in guilt and fear, "I'm sorry, Layla. I'm so sorry, please open the door,""Tell me something Rhia," Layla said from the other side of the door, her voice hoarse and upset, "Were you ever going to tell me about this? That I died in your past life?"Rhia squeezed her eyes shut, trying to contain the pain. She hated feeling like this, but most importantly, she hated knowing she had hurt Layla badly by keeping it from her. "I don't...,""You weren't!" Layla bar

"What?!""Huh?!""Did you just say your signature awakened?""What?""Oh my God!""Rhia, what the hell?"Layla's expression kept changing and twisting throughout the entire story. She stared at Rhiannon in complete awe, her lips parted the whole story. Every word that left Rhia's lips sounded almost foreign in her ears. The whole story was just... something out of this world. Minutes after Rhia was done, Layla was still stunned. Her mouth was still open, and she kept blinking. Then, "What??!" That was her biggest exclamation so far, and Rhiannon couldn't help but burst into laughter. The situation was serious, but Layla's facial expressions were just hilarious. "How did you...how do you...What did you...how on earth...," Words were failing her badly. Nothing felt right on her tongue anymore as emotions crashed into her. Her head was a sea of pandemic right now, and she was breathing a little too fast"Deep breaths, Layla," Rhia encouraged, "Deep breaths,"Both of them inhaled deep

The lights in Amelia's house were dim, and sitting across her was Rhiannon. “I need them to see chains when they look at me. I need them to believe I was caged, tortured and broken. That’s the only way I can walk among them without suspicion,”“And you’re asking me to make you weak?” Amelia's eyes narrowed slightly. Rhiannon shook her head, “No. Not weak. Just… the illusion of it. They can never know I still have my strength,”Amelia tilted her head, considering it. Her fingers brushed her pendant over her neck, and her thoughts returned to the past. “That I can do. A glamour, not a drain. Your body will still be yours, untouched. You’ll carry your strength beneath the mask. But to others? They’ll see a girl dragged through hell,”“And what about their wolves? They’ll smell health beneath the lie,”Amelia’s lips twitched into the faintest smile, “Not if I lace it with pain. The glamour will project weakness into their senses, into their instincts. They’ll smell blood where there is

Aiden stared down at the drawing, and seconds ticked by as everyone waited breathlessly for him to begin. Then, his finger tapped at the Rogue, "This is the Sleeping wolf, and the wings signify something unnatural that doesn't belong in normal human nature. Like he's something that transcends normal wolf law,"Rhiannon already knew what that meant after her conversation at Amelia's place. It referred to its double signature, and two wolves residing in one person. Then, he tapped at the chain around the Rogue's neck, "This is the bond keeping the wolf under control, only allowing it to come alive every full moon and it's fragile now, about to snap and the Rogue would be unleashed forever,"This time, Rhiannon and Elijah shared wary, concerned glances. Then, Rhiannon asked, "How long before that happens?""From the way it's fraying, not too long I guess,"Oh no. "The wolves under the Rogue signify the werewolf world. If the Rogue breaks free forever, it will first consume this pack an

"Who else? The Moon Goddess," Rhiannon shrugged. Everyone rolled their eyes, "Come on!""They're best friends," Sam straightened out, "They're not the same person,""So, what do we do now?" Amelia asked, and the heavy tension returned. "What else is there to do but to find the Mother of Werewolves and ask her to start preparing for whatever may come forth," Larkin replied, "She's the only one that has a good shot at ending all this...," "That's true," Sam nodded in agreement, "I'll talk to the Alpha about this. Maybe he can get in touch with the Werewolf seeress, then ask her to tell him who the Mother of Werewolves is,""That's a great idea, but he's gonna ask you how you came about everything," Amelia pointed out, "Are you gonna tell him about me?"Rhiannon answered this time, "Amelia, do you trust Elijah?!" "No!" She panicked, "Not with this," She rubbed her temple, "He's been a great Alpha we can all rely on, but I cannot imagine how he's gonna react when he finds out about me
