Chapter 44: Comfort Zone II

“Shall we talk outside?” Ben put her arms around Bea’s shoulder and guided her to the terrace. The night was humid and the stars were shining brightly in the dark sky.

The two of them sat on the wooden bench. Ben pulled his daughter to lean on his shoulder and sighed.

“Can you tell me why you did not contact us for the past week? That was not so you.”

Bea took a deep breath when she heard that her father’s tone changed. It was soft, gentle, and warm. It was as if he was trying to comfort her with just the tone of his voice. That was the tone that his father would use every time they needed to be reprimanded for doing something that made him worried. If there was a gentle parent award, her father could have won it.

“Papa…” Bea hugged her father tight. She did not want to talk. She did not want to disappoint him. She did not want to make him feel that he should not have approved of William.
