Chapter 52: Proposal
It was awkward. From the moment they entered the restaurant until after the food was served, the atmosphere between Callum and Bea had been awkward. They had been tiptoeing around each other since their ride to the restaurant and no one dared to break the ice between them.
“After the drinks were served, the waiter smiled. “Enjoy your meal.”
Callum took a sip of the juice and gathered the courage to speak. Even if his goal was to get rejected, he could not stop himself from being nervous.
“Bea…” Callum sighed as he took the ring from his pocket. He opened the case and shoved it closer to her. “I know I told you that I would not do this, but I had no choice. Will you marry me?”
“You really…” Bea shook her head and sighed. “You don’t know how to beat around the bush, huh?”
Callum chuckled as he felt relieved that Bea did not slap or looked at her with disgust.
