CHAPTER 5

I am already here, anyway. I might as well do something that could compensate for me skipping work and paying for the taxi fare.

After a few seconds of silently walking, I made it to the back. I saw a back door opened and it was slightly open. I could see the light coming from the inside.

So, I guess, there’s still someone inside.

The back place was so silent. I could barely hear the horn coming from the cars passing by on the front of the cafe.

I could hear faint voices of people talking.

I made my way near the exit door. I peaked and eavesdropped on the corner so I could hear them.

"We don't offer low quality guns, that is why we sell them at a bigger price as compensation for my people's hard work, and for me as well." Said by a manly and deep voice. For some reason, it sounded familiar to my ears.

"I didn't get a discount?" Another man said. It sounded like an old man.

Guns? The heck? What are they talking about? Do they mean water guns or toy guns?

Please, God, tell me I am not seriously in a dangerous situation right now.

The familiar voice of a man echoed the room. And it wasn't a normal laugh. It sounded more scary and devilish. I got goosebumps all over my body.

"Are you kidding me? Do you think I'm selling meat?! No. And this is not a supermarket where you could ask for a discount. I even picked up an expensive place for this deal. You're cheap. If you don't wanna buy it, I'll sell it to others with a double price. Take it or leave it." He sounded as if he had all the power and authority to say everything he wanted.

Is this a freaking illegal deal?!

I became more anxious. I could feel my heart's beat getting faster and faster.

I grabbed my phone and turned on the sound recording. Just in case I am right with my theory, at least I'll have a proof.

The other man let out a soft chuckle. "That is not what I meant. Anyways, how can I be sure that this is high quality?"

"We can try it right now and right here." The familiar voice suggested. Another thing about his voice is it's intimidating.

I then heard the sound of a gun being loaded.

I flinched and covered my mouth in an instant when I heard a loud bang. It was the sound of a gun.

"Arghhh!!!" Someone shouted in so much pain.

My heart's beat even went racing that I could already hear it.

A few seconds later, the man who was shot went silent.

"How about that?" The man asked.

"You don't need to shoot my men just to prove your point."

"Well, you asked for it. I can't see anyone better as a target except your men." He replied as if it was nothing.

Oh my f*cking God!!

I immediately turned off my phone and stepped backward to get out of the place. I immediately ran out.

I didn't know where the heck the direction I was taking. All I know is that I need to get away from this place.

After a few minutes, I hid behind the neighbouring establishment. I saw the taxi that I was riding with earlier.

But then, I saw men wearing all black business suits leaving the alley where I came out. They all have huge bodies as if they are some kind of MMA fighters.

They are all well-built and all look good.

Wait! Wait! Why am I complementing these criminals?

Something is really wrong with me. But, first, I need to get out of here.

All the men are approaching the pile of black and expensive cars that were parked in front of the cafe.

Alright, I am just going to wait until they are all gone and I can leave then.

I let out a deep breath and calmed myself from panicking.

I averted my gaze from them. After a few more minutes, I looked at them again.

All the cars started leaving. But, there was one car who didn't move as if it was still waiting for someone to get inside.

I averted my gaze again and I almost died in a heart attack.

I took two steps backward after I saw a tall and masculine man standing near me. He’s also wearing a black suit with a red polo underneath.

He got perfectly shaped face; pointy nose, well curved jawline, heart shaped lips, and brown eyes. His hair reached his shoulder and it was grey. He looked a little older than me.

If we were be standing next to each other, my height would only reach his obvious masculine chest. I don’t think my height can reach his shoulder.

Another thing, even if he's smiling, I could still feel the dark aura around him. He still looks scary to me.

We’re only one metre apart from each other. And my heart? It even went racing again after I calmed it down.

How long has he been standing there?

Suddenly, all the worst thoughts I had in my head disappeared when he smiled at me. I got lost at his smile for a quick second.

“Glad you came.” He said in a soft tone.

That voice again. It was him. He was the one who called me. And he’s also the freaking man, who I assumed shot someone earlier.

His voice sounded different from earlier. It was soft with a hint of gentleness.

The f*ck! This is what really happens every time my stupidity works. Okay, fine, I am regretting it now.

“Uhm…” I lost all the words I knew and ended up saying nothing.

He smiled again and stepped closer.

I didn’t know but my knees became weak and I couldn’t move them. I felt like I got paralyzed at where I was standing.

I could feel my forehead sweating too much and my hands shaking.

I couldn't move even if I wanted to.

He suddenly reached for my one shoulder and I felt an unexplainable feeling that ran through my body for a split second.

"Thank you for giving me this opportunity to claim you as mine again. You're mine again. I've been looking for you." He said before giving me the most gentle hug I received my whole life.

I was left stunned. I felt like I suddenly stopped breathing.

But, I felt an odd feeling. I felt at peace. My heart was at peace. And I felt safe.

My hand moved on its own and hugged him back.

I didn't know what I was doing anymore.

After more than a minute passed, I felt that whatever is currently happening is so freaking wrong.

I gathered all the strength I had and pushed him as hard as I could. And with his gentle grip, it was easy for him to let go of me.

He gave me a confused look and before he could say anything, I ran away from him.

I ran until I got inside the taxi.

"Let's go! Let's go! Hurry up!" I finally realized what just happened and all I wanted was to get away.

The driver started the taxi and started manoeuvring it at its fast speed.

I turned to look in his direction. I saw him get out of the alley and looked at the moving taxi I was in with a confused look.

I let out a sigh of relief when he slowly disappeared from my sight.

I also felt a little guilty and sad at the same time. I felt guilty and sad because I left without a single word coming out of my mouth. I left him confused.

There's something wrong happening.

Why the heck did he say it? Claim me again? Have we met before? I don't think so.

I am pretty sure I didn't have amnesia so if we met before, I will remember it. But, no. I can't remember meeting him before.

He's a stranger. A weird stranger.

While we were on our way back, I could feel the quick look the driver was giving me. I know he's confused about what happened earlier.

But, even myself is confused.

Based on what I heard, I know he's someone you can't trust. He's a freaking criminal. A big time criminal.

He's selling guns and he even tested it on real people.

I just got into a freaking gun trafficking business deal.

It was such a heartless action of him. How am I not supposed to get scared?!

But, why the heck am I feeling the opposite?!

Even if I say that I am scared, the hug he gave me changed everything I felt.

I kept on thinking about what happened until the taxi stopped in front of my school. So I told him the address of my apartment and brought me there.

I paid him with a tip and then went straight to my room and threw my bag on the chair near our study table.

Alliyah is still not here since she probably just started working.

I laid my body on my bed and I immediately felt pain physically and mentally.

I didn't bother taking off my shoes or changing my clothes. I closed my eyes and forced myself to sleep.

This has been a rough day.
