CHAPTER FOUR

“Nice night?” Jacob asked with a smirk.

“Yes. It's not everyday the Lord leaves the house after all.” I shrugged.

“That's not what I meant but okay.” said Jacob.

“What did you mean then, Jacob?” Bosvana asked.

“Nothing.” He shrugged.

“By the way, I'm going to eat breakfast with everyone today.”

Helen gasped horrifically, her fingers tangled in her dark healthy hair. “You never do that!”

“I know. That's why I'm going to. In this mansion, we only have us.”

Bosvana scoffed, “Why are you suddenly talking like that. Are you going to die or something?”

“You are talking as if we don't overthink whether we can live or not anytime we make a mistake in front of Maximilian.”

Bosvana rolled her eyes and leaned against Jacob's shoulder as he served the rice.

“Oh stop trying to be like us so bad! You're different. No matter what you do, the Lord won't kill you. You even dare speak his name and serve him closely for more than six years. All those that tried to serve him in the past were killed in less than a week but you..”

“And your point is?” I said.

“Even if you'll die. It won't be from Maximilian's hands. Just yesterday, he saved you from that vampire didn't he?”

“He also saved me in the past before he brought me here to serve him. You should know the master by now, he doesn't kill someone unless they are stupid, clumsy and delicious. I guess you have forgotten that Maximilian killed Cyra in her first week here.”

My hands unconsciously formed into a fist as I remembered how he shifted into his true form and attacked me that night.

It was midnight and I was chanting spells I learnt from my former home in the human society. Even though majority of humans didn't believe in the supernatural, I encountered a special book in the library. I practiced them for fun but it became real.

Soon I could do the simplest things as driving without using my hands, creating fire etc.

When I got kidnapped into this incredibly huge mansion I saw as a castle, I decided to cast a risky spell to make myself disappear and it required using my blood.

A naive me had no clue about his powers.

My blood attracted him and he went mad. He attacked me and my screams were nothing but his turn on.

He emptied me of my blood that I felt numb and saw my dead parents reaching out to me. I took their hands and felt myself go.

But I woke up with no injury and a surprising amount of strength and hunger. No one had to tell me i'd turned. I knew.

I got crazy and attacked Maximilian then to kill him..

“The master has higher expectations of Cyra, that's why it probably looks like he doesn't intend to kill her.” Jacob said, snapping me back to reality. “But she probably has to walk on eggshells when serving him.”

“I still don't care what you say. The lord won't kill her no matter what, I can bet my life on that. So Cyra, take advantage of that and make the right decisions.”

I shook my head at that.

“I'll be in the dining room. Please serve breakfast.” With that, I barged out of the kitchen.

Whatever she thought about Maximilian and I, was false.

She didn't know him well enough to judge that he was capable of having affection for a plaything like me.
