Chapter 14

Almost at the pack, Matt sensed a difference. His connection with his family began to fade away, and he couldn't feel anything at all. He alerted Alex immediately, although Alex couldn't sense what Matt did. He quickened his pace. A few minutes later, they arrived at the pack, only to find not a single soul. The ones they encountered were severely injured on the ground.

"Father?" Matt called out, but there was no response. "Father?" He called again. "There's no one left, Matt," Alex said.

Fortunately, one of the injured men was able to speak, albeit faintly. "Over here," Anna said, drawing Matt and Alex's attention to the injured man.

"What happened here? Where is everybody?" Matt asked.

"They are all gone," the injured man replied.

"What do you mean, gone?" Alex asked.

"Say something!" Matt yelled.

"Will you both be calm already? You can see he's gasping for breath," Anna intervened.

"They were all taken... by Andrea... and his men," the man answered.
