A Man In A Car

 Amelie's POV.

Matilda was silent for a few moments, she never answered my question. Her face stiffened slightly, I don't know why she became like this.

"This isn't about your worn out hair tie, Amelie, but about you entering my room without permission. I've long disliked people who frequently invade privacy like you and this has nothing to do with Alpha Rexton." She said then explained at length.

I frowned. "Isn't that guy Alpha Rexton? Even his car is blue, he's not Alpha Rexton."

"Why does it seem like you know him best now, Amelie?!" Matilda looked at me with a searching gaze. "He doesn't only have one car and his black car is in the repair shop, it's natural for him to use another car. Besides, if not Alpha Rexton, who else would I go with?!"

 "Excuse me."

"After accusing me like that, can you just apologize?"

I was silent and couldn't answer Matilda's question, even though I could see clearly that the man was not Alpha Rexton. Am I looking wrong? I don't think that's possible.

Matilda's loud voice seemed to disturb the mother who was already in the room a little. Matilda and I turned simultaneously to the source of the sound when we heard the sound of the door opening.

Mom came out of her room. For a moment her eyes looked at Matilda and me alternately.

"What are you talking about at night? Your voice can disturb the other neighbors, do you understand?!"

"Sorry, Mom." Matilda and I said almost at the same time.

"Never mind, Amelie, go back to the room." Mama looked at me before she turned to Matilda. "Matilda, you too, clean yourself up. No need to fight, it's late."

I nodded my head, then went back into the room. My memory can't be separated from the man I saw earlier, I really didn't see Alpha Rexton like Matilda said.

Grabbing the smartphone that was by the bed, I turned it on and spent my time on social media until late at night.

 ***

 "Amelie ... Amelie ...."

Hearing my name being called, even though it was faint, my eyes opened little by little. There was no one in this dark room.

I still kept hearing the sound of someone calling my name, he whispered and I looked for the source of the sound.

A knock on the window made me realize that the sound was coming from there. I turned on the room light and walked over.

"Jack? What are you doing here?" I was surprised to see his presence in front of the bedroom window.

"Sorry to disturb your sleep, would you like to help me?"

"Help you for what?" My forehead frowned.

He sighed. "Look, I'm out of money. Can you lend me your money?"

"Um ...." I remembered what Matilda and mother said the other day. Is this the start of it all? Ah, I don't want to think bad. "How much do you need?"

"Not much, just to buy my father's equipment."

I walked back closer to the bed, then took my wallet which was in my sling bag which was hanging behind the bedroom door.

I took out a few bills from there, then I went back to the window of the room where Jackson was waiting.

"Sorry, I can only help you a little."

The two eyes that were originally pitiful now seemed to be sparkling. "Thank you, Amelie, this is enough. I don't know who else if not you would help me. Thank you, thank you very much."

"Use the money as best as possible." I'm happy to see him smiling again. "Remember, I'm only lending you, not giving you my money."

Jackson nodded his head. "I will return it as soon as possible, Amelie." He put the money in his shirt pocket. "I don't want people to get suspicious, I'll go now."

I nodded my head. The man left with some money that I lent him.

From behind the window, I could only sigh while watching him. Even if he doesn't return my money, I don't think it's a problem because the amount isn't too big. If he returns it, I still accept it and realize that he really wants to erase the permanent marker scribbles on the white board.

No longer feeling sleepy, I had to open my eyes until morning arrived. I didn't sleep again after Jackson arrived.

"It's great that you're awake, Amelie," said Matilda, looking sarcastically at me.

I smiled, responding calmly. "Is it wrong if I wake up early?"

"Yes." She nodded her head. "You always wake up late, mom has to wake you up every morning."

"I want to change myself for the better starting today."

Matilda chuckled. "Though I'm not sure if you'll make it, but I'm still praying for you."

 "Thank You."

I deliberately didn't respond to Matilda's words, I didn't want our conversation to be longer and Matilda talking about other things.

After finishing breakfast and making sure I had brought some things, I took the flatshoes in the shoe rack and put them on.

"I'll go first." I shouted as I left the room.

The air outside the house was very cold, the wind was blowing and the sky was very cloudy. I tightened the thick jacket I was wearing, my legs moved quickly towards the bus stop to wait for the bus that would pick me up and take me to the company.

The bus stop wasn't too busy, luckily the bus arrived on time so I didn't have to wait long for it to arrive.

Getting into the bus, the air felt better now. Looking outside the snow began to fall making white marks on the ground.

"What are you eating, Chasne?" I asked when I entered the office and saw her eating food.

"Kimbap, I tried making it this morning. Do you want it?"

It looks so delicious, I nod my head. I picked up the food using chopsticks and fed a piece that was a little bigger than usual, making my mouth feel very full.

Warm, it tastes quite good. I nodded my head as I continued to enjoy the food.

"How does it taste? Do you like it?"

 I nodded. "It's delicious, I like it."

"I'll bring it to you tomorrow."

"Thank you, Chasne. I would be very happy."

Working hours started, I and other employees were busy with our respective work. Looking towards the window, snow was still falling outside.

I stretched the muscles in my body, it felt tiring to continue sitting in this chair for hours. Not to mention my eyes keep looking at the computer screen, it makes me feel sleepy.

Five minutes until break time, I decided not to continue my work until break time was over. I really feel tired.

"Let's go to the cafeteria," said Chasne.

I nodded. Usually there will be soupy food in the cafeteria, today I want to eat it. I left my lunch box at the office.

The cafeteria wasn't that busy yet. After taking chicken soup, warm water and some fruit we both sat on a bench close to the door.

As I had imagined before, the taste was bland, with only a slight salty taste at the end. I just want to eat some soup to warm my body, that's all.

"It's not very good." Chasne said, stirring the soup in front of her.

I nodded in agreement. "The food in the cafeteria is always bland."

"Mostly, but yesterday was pretty good."

 "Is it true?"

Chasne nodded her head. "I'm curious about who cooks all this food, why does it taste different every day like this?"

"Maybe this food is made by different people every day, that's why the taste is different."

 "Maybe."

"You know, last night Jackson came to my house and knocked on the bedroom window." I changed the topic.

"What does he want to come to your house for?"

 "He borrowed money."

 "You gave it?"

I nodded. "Actually, I feel hesitant to help him."

 "Why?"

"Mama and Matilda said that he was very dependent on people who helped him, that's why there were rarely any people who wanted to help, or even none." I explained. "I'm afraid that later he will depend on me."

"You have to be firm with him, Amelie. Don't hesitate or be afraid, even though he is known as a bad wolfman."

 "I will try it."

 ***

It was four in the afternoon. I tidied up my things and got ready to go home.

The snow outside was falling again and getting thicker, while I only wore flatshoes and didn't bring boots or thick socks. I will definitely be very cold outside.

"Are you going home now, Amelie?" Chasne asked, coming closer to my desk.

"The air outside is very cold, I want to go home immediately."

 "Amelie, I'm sorry."

I frowned. "Sorry for what, Chasne? I don't think you've done anything wrong."
