Amelie's POV.
I try to stay away from him. While he was at the left end of the table, I was at the right end of the center almost to the back.
Every now and then I would steal glances at him, not because I was tempted by his good looks but I didn't want him to know that I was here.
"Why is he here too, Gwen?" I asked, then took a sip of strawberry juice.
"The guests who came were not only my friends, Amelie, but also my parents' business partners."
"Wow, your parents' relationship is no joke." Chasne praised.
"But I'm a bit lazy, from my father's relationship with them, he forced me to marry a man named Luke. One thing I know is that he is a Beta."
"Good offer! If I were you, perhaps I would agree with father's choice." Hailey also spoke.
"Unfortunately I can't be like you, Hailey." Gwendolyn took a piece of cake and took a bite. "There's no way I can leave my boyfriend who has accompanied me for five years, even if I meet my mate."
I was silent when I heard the words Gwendolyn said. Even though she is beautiful, this woman is very loyal and is not easily tempted. Gwendolyn doesn't even want to accept her father's choice and prefers her current boyfriend.
If only Alpha Rexton had the same thoughts as Gwendolyn, the man would have chosen to stay with Matilda. Maybe I don't need to beg to make him reject me, that would be better. Unfortunately reality says otherwise.
"You are right, you are a classy and loyal woman. Don't leave your boyfriend who has accompanied you for a long time, Gwen!" Chasne also took the same cake as Gwendolyn took.
"Oh, so you don't think I'm a classy woman, Chasne?" Hailey's anger was ignited.
"Uh, n--no. Bu--that's not what I meant, Hailey. You misunderstood."
But it seems like Hailey is not good at acting. A second later she was laughing. "Just relax, Chasne. I'm not that emotional."
"You almost ruined our friendship." I said, then chuckled.
"I have to get ready, the event will start soon." Gwendolyn got up and left the table.
Looking around, it seemed that more and more invited guests were arriving. I don't know how many hundreds of people were invited to Gwendolyn's birthday tonight, a lively party that I'm sure will never happen in my lifetime.
Everyone wore a dress code, some wore black, some wore white. They talked to each other, as did me, Chasne and Hailey.
A man checked the microphone and walked on the small stage available in front of the seats of the guests who came. When his voice started to sound, everything in the room fell silent. Instantly the atmosphere became silent and no one spoke.
"Good afternoon, ladies and gentleman. How was your day? Hope you all always have a good day." The man wearing a black shirt with a white jacket and white ribbon tie smiled kindly at the guests who came. "Okay, I'm Timothy who will guide this event. Tonight is a very happy night, especially for a beautiful woman with long, wavy brown hair. We welcome her, Gwendolyn."
The knee-length white dress she was wearing looked sparkling. Her gait was very graceful and her facial makeup was very beautiful. It was truly a birthday party that was my dream, but I realized that I would never get a party as luxurious as this.
"Let us sing happy birthday to her together."
All the guests who came, including me, started singing while clapping. After the song was finished, Gwendolyn started to approach the three-tiered birthday cake on the table, then blew out the burning candles on it.
Thunderous applause began to be heard. On the stage, Gwendolyn and the presenter appeared to be smiling full of happiness.
"Who will you give the first piece of cake to, Gwen?"
"Um, I'll give it to mom and dad."
"All right, please come up to the stage, mother and father of Gwendolyn."
Two men and a woman began to come up to the stage. All the guests who came looked happy. Especially when Gwendolyn started cutting the cake and giving it to her parents.
There was thunderous applause again. All the guests who came smiled happily.
"I want to give the next piece of cake to my beloved boyfriend, Samuel," said Gwendolyn, speaking near the microphone.
A man in a white suit came up to the small stage at the front. He stepped closer to Gwendolyn and was ready to receive the third piece of cake.
"Yes, the cake is running out. Next are you going to give me the fourth piecefor me, Gwen?"
The woman shook her head. "Um ... sorry, but no." Her eyes glanced slightly at me, Hailey and Chasne who were sitting around the same table. "I want to give the next piece of cake to my friends who are very kind and always accompany me at any time. Amelie, Hailey, Chasne, please come up to the stage."
Hearing my name called, I was silent for a moment. Why did Gwendolyn do this? Never thought about it before. If I go up on stage, Alpha Rexton can see my presence.
My eyes glanced towards the far right. Sure enough, Alpha Rexton and Matilda were looking at me and my two other friends. Unlucky! Why should it be like this?
"Amelie, let's go there," whispered Chasne who then took my hand. "Why are you silent, anyway?!"
Ascending the stage, I didn't dare to look at Alpha Rexton and Matilda. Of course I felt too nervous, I couldn't concentrate fully.
"Amelie, open your mouth!"
"H--ha? Um ... a ...."
"Why are you daydreaming?" whispered Gwendolyn.
Before I had time to answer it, the host said, "Let's take a photo first."
My eyes tried to focus on looking at the camera, I smiled stiffly. Honestly, I can't relax like usual. This really makes me awkward.
The scent of vanilla combined with the strong smell of wood wafted as I walked down the stage. Of course this happened because my distance from Alpha Rexton was getting closer.
For a second I didn't have the courage to look away, I walked back to the table where I was while lowering my head.
"Wow, what a fun birthday event tonight. The next event is a casual talk, please take your time."
Both Gwendolyn and the host stepped off the stage. Gwendolyn approached our table and joined us again.
Several times I glanced at Alpha Rexton, I saw he was also doing the same thing. He already knows where I am.
"Amelie, it looks like you're going to be in a big trouble."
Amelie's POV. All the guests who came enjoyed their time while chatting with people they knew. Several others seemed to enjoy the food and drinks provided. Time doesn't seem to pass quickly and now it's ten o'clock in the evening. Even so, the birthday party wasn't over yet and according to Gwendolyn the birthday party would last until late at night. Gwendolyn sat down next to Chasne, she took a piece of biscuit and ate it. "What's the big problem?" Hailey asked while taking the orange juice on the table. While I was just silent, even before Gwendolyn said that I was already in a big trouble. "That guy at the front end, isn't he the guy we saw at the bar?" Gwendolyn moved her chin to point in the direction she meant. "That's right, I still recognize him very well." Chasne nodded confidently. "I just found out from my father earlier that he is the Alpha of the Yellow Moon Pack." "W--what?!" Chasne and Hailey said almost at the same time. "I already know." I said, trying to
Rexton's POV. Getting out of the black car I was driving, I first opened the car door for Matilda. She looks elegant in a white dress that fits her body perfectly. Matilda put her arm around my left arm, we both walked into a magnificent building. This hall has been decorated very beautifully, lots of balloons, ribbons and other wall decorations, all of which are black and white, just like the dress code that the guests have to wear tonight. "Good afternoon, Alpha Rexton." Someone approached me, I didn't know who is him. The man in a black suit and tie directed Matilda and me to a table at the very front on the far right. There were only two chairs there and it seemed like the table had been prepared for the two of us. "Thank you, Sir." Matilda said kindly. Not long after we both sat down, I saw three people approaching. They consist of one man and two women, I know the man, he is Mr. Jeremy, the father of his daughter's birthday today. The three of them smiled at me and Matil
Rexton's POV. The sound of footsteps could be heard passing through the hallway. In a dark room, Amelie and I stood face to face at a very close distance. I had composed a sentence in my brain, but I could only exhale heavily when I was about to say it. I can't say that, I can't imagine how sad the two wolves are inside each of us. I don't want to hurt her at all. I felt her breath hit my face, maybe vice versa. One thing I hope for, is that someone out there doesn't come into the room that I don't even know what room it is. The sound was getting closer. "Rexton ... where are you?" She looked for me, and it was Matilda's voice. I can recognize it well. "Hhmmpp--" Amelie almost made a sound, but I immediately covered her mouth. "Do you want her to know that we are mates?" Amelie answered by shaking her head, I could see it in the dark even though it was a little faint. "If it's like that, then shut up." The sound of footsteps drifted away. It seems Matilda has already passed
Amelie's POV. Gwendolyn's birthday party was exhausting. Luckily after successfully escaping from Alpha Rexton, he never approached me again. After returning home from the party I immediately fell asleep until the afternoon. I woke up hungry and found Matilda in the dining room who had just woken up from sleep. "It turns out you know Mr. Jeremy?" I frowned, then shook my head. "No." "Didn't you come to her daughter's party last night?" "Oh." I just realized something. "Gwendolyn is my college friend." "Didn't you see I was at the party last night too?" I frowned again, pretending not to understand. "Did you come there too, Matilda?" "Hu-um, I came with Rexton. I sat in the front seat at the very end on the right. You really didn't see me?" "Oh my, I didn't know you were there." "You stupid little sister!" I chuckled at her curse. My hands were busy opening sardines and heating them first before eating. "If I knew you were coming too, maybe I would have asked you to leave
Amelie's POV. "Hey, get up, your leg is blocking the road. This bus passenger is having difficulty walking because of your right leg." I was surprised to hear an old woman's voice as well as clapping her hand on my arm. Both of my eyes opened perfectly immediately. An old woman in a cream-colored knitted cardigan stood in front of me. Her brown eyes stared intently at me. Judging from the expression on her face, she seemed to be waiting for my answer. "Wh--why am I on the bus?" I looked around, making sure I was in a moving vehicle. "Aw, young people nowadays get drunk on the bus." She then continued walking. My eyes looked in the direction the old woman had gone. Her hair had turned white, only a few strands remained black. In her hand was a medium-sized brown hand bag. She walked all the way to the front, then sat in the second seat behind the driver. I looked outside, my eyes suddenly opened wider than usual. This road is too far, I have missed stop number four where I was
Amelie's POV. I took a slice of the pizza on the table, then fed it into my mouth without washing my hands first. Disgusting, that's what, but I don't care how many germs enter my body. The taste of this pizza remains the same, delicious, very delicious. Matilda never makes a mistake when buying food. All the food she bought always tasted delicious. "Friend." She answered simply. I was silent, in my heart I didn't believe her words. Even so, I still nodded my head pretending to believe her words. The smartphone in my sling bag rang, I could hear it even though the sound was soft. Likewise with Matilda, she turned her head slightly towards me, looking out of the corner of her eye. I got up from the chair. "I'm tired, I want to rest." "Clean yourself first, then rest." I just responded with a nod of my head. This not so neat room was still dark, I turned on the light so I could see around. Blankets that haven't been folded anymore, pillows that aren't in their place and bed s
Matilda's POV. Gwendolyn's birthday party last night was so tiring that I fell asleep for a long time. Leaving the room, I still haven't seen Amelie, maybe she's still asleep. I took the little remaining chicken soup. Glancing at Amelie's bedroom door, I didn't intend to finish it. It's just that after that I saw several cans of sardines in the cupboard. "She can eat sardines later." I said, then reheated the cold chicken soup. While I was eating dinner, I heard the sound of the bedroom door opening. My guess was right, the lazy Amelie had woken up from her sleep. She sat next to me, put her smartphone on the table and we chatted for a while before she finally went to heat the sardines. Her smartphone lit up with an incoming message. I can't see who sent the message. "There's a message on your smartphone, Amelie." "Just leave it, I'll be done in a minute." The smartphone screen turned off again and I went back to enjoying the chicken soup that I had left. Amelie sat back dow
Matilda's POV. Entering the room, I collapsed on the bed. It feels more comfortable to spend the night in bed than in nightlife places. Is there anyone like me? I don't know why people can enjoy meeting lots of people, while I'm not comfortable with that. Every person is different. In a dark room, I took out my smartphone and turned it on. Rexton still hasn't contacted me, maybe he's still having fun with some friends. "Does Levin have social media?" I selected the search symbol to search for an account. "You should have one, who nowadays doesn't have a social media account?" For a while I waited for the loading time of the search. A few seconds passed, the results started to appear. There are many Levin names that I found. The number of accounts with that name reaches thousands. This will be very difficult. Actually, this is just my fault. I just used his nickname, not the long name that people like me usually use on social media. "Oh my gosh, I forgot his name," I said soft
