“This, Athena, is your new home.”
Aunt Rosa was far from done with her words when the massive mahogany doors with intricate patterns were thrown open from inside.I had rather been keen to discern the partners even while Aunt Rosa spoke her piece to my hearing, so, I was disappointed when the doors were thrown open and two unattractive faces emerged in the regalia of maids.
“Good day, lady, and—” the first omega paused like she’d known me from somewhere sometime in the past.
Aunt Rosa’s gaze drifted towards me and thus came her shunning hush.
It turned out she’d gone down on both knees as the two ugly figures emerged, as custom demands, but I was on my knees, seeking out the patterns and what event they portrayed in the history of our great pack.
“Get down on your knees, you little ruffian.” Aunt Rosa hid her disgust with a smile that looked as fake as her kind words.
I’m an orphan. I first learned that word from her the day she spoke to me as a common orphan placed in her care.
Her hush words nudged me back to life and I descended on both knees while the ladies watched.
“She doesn’t seem properly informed.” One of them whispered to the other.
I held the urge to tell her her words were far from whisper. We could hear them loud and clear though it was meant to be mere whispers.“Never mind, she’ll learn.” The second figure dismissed the fuss.
“So,” the first started with a sigh, “what have you come for, lady and her girl?”
Aunt Rosa placed a hand on my shoulder. She’d never done that kindly except now.
“My name is Rosa Roey,” she said smoothly “And here with me is my orphaned niece, Athena.”
Both ladies looked at each other. Maybe it’s their first time getting whipped off such an intro.
I could have done better if I was asked to do it myself, but how good could it be without the remark of being an orphan!“I’ve come to present her to the alpha as a piece of aid from a voluntary mind.” She declared.
Voluntary? That’s not what she told me. She told me she was taking me to a place of solitude. A place where no one would remind me of my orphan status. A place where I’d be paid for everything I do and be offered the care she couldn’t offer me.
The ladies looked at each other like they were just about to strike an agreement with my aunt, but then, their countenance changed.
“No one gives a girl child to the alpha’s care as you can see,” the first lady seemed more of a speaker, while the second seemed shut of words.
Aunt Rosa smiled. “I understand the alpha might not need anyone to be placed in his care, I trust you heard me when I said I brought her as a piece from a voluntary heart.” Aunt Rosa elucidated.
The ladies said nothing. They seemed to have just realized what she meant. They might have seen an offer they couldn’t deny.
The offer is unfortunately me.
“That means, you’ve offered her as a vessel to the service of the alpha of alphas?” the first lady posed.
Aunt Rosa nodded. “Indeed.”
The ladies nodded and the second lady rushed a paper out of the big pocket of her gown.
The gown was a black one that looked like a nun’s clothing, but unlike the nuns, it was yellow and thick.“Sign this with your blood,” the first lady took the paper from the second lady and passed it to Aunt Rosa. “With this, you hereby assert that dead or alive, your orphan niece is given to the service of the great alpha and his pack house.”
Aunt Rosa pierced her thumb finger, received the paper from the first lady, and pressed her injured thumb on it.
I saw the grin on her face. She was glad to give me off to the place of the alpha; a place quite far from our side and less noisy.
“Come with us.”
That was how I ended up in the massive palace of Winterhaven pack.
He’s said to be the alpha of alphas and I was glad to have escaped Aunt Rosa’s ill treatment and constant nagging though she gave me out herself.
It felt great to be tossed into a place of luxury and my hope for freedom flourished until they stepped into the hall and saw me admiring the pictures on the wall while the ladies shunned five other omegas who hadn’t fixed the cushions properly.
They look older than me, but something odd glistened in their eyes.
The odd thing was familiar. It was the same look the homies of my old neighborhood gave me whenever I reported to the field to get sand for the big pots.I looked myself up and stole glances at them. Four well-dressed boys who look just like each other except for slight differences.
One of them was hairy, the other was slim, and the rest were without blemishes but I could guess their characters won’t be the same.
The ladies finished up with the omegas and turned to me, but they sighted the four boys and fell on their knees.
“Greetings,” the ladies’ voices were toppled by that of the omegas behind them.
It was then I realized I and the boys were the only ones standing.
The boys fixed their gaze on me till I did just what the ladies did. They didn’t say a word. They merely left the hall.
“Rise, all of you, and get back to work.”
“And you, come with us.”The two ladies showed me to my room and asked me to drop my bag and grab a quick rest, but before they left, the send lady paused and closed in on me.
She placed both hands on my shoulder and said: “Beware of the four princes.”

Abena POVOne thing with being a quiet person, or should I say, not saying the right word, at the right time, will make you feel like, you're weak, stupid, and don't have anything to say, because, tell me why this boy could come put a challenge to fight for his birthright, right in my face, like my introduction doesn't sound anything to him. I am the Luna of Winterhaven pack and my words stand.I swear, I'm beginning to lose my patience, and might not be too long before I cut off his throat; not like I can anyway, he's the prince of the pack and will surely have answers to give, if not, just if not.“I'm the one with the power?” I said immediately. If I'm going to let this spoiled brat have his time to order a lot of people around, he will do worse than he already has.I'm the one with the power, young man. How may I help you? I asked, fixating my eyes on him, reading his emotions, which were clouded with fear and shock. Is he surprised to see that the woman he just finished badmouthin
ZAIN POVI watch as my father's new queen or Luna—whatever! She keeps instructing us like we are her slaves. I hope she finally agrees to understand where she is standing and what kind of people she's talking with when we are done dealing with her.In this pack, we rule, control, have mercy, or kill anyone who we desire. That’s one thing my late father couldn’t achieve. He's just too merciful, that’s why I'm still standing here listening to the trash words, this little girl has just said. Looking at her now, she will be in her early twenties or she's just being cheated on by her skinny body, but even so, she has no right to talk to us that way.I looked at her again with the anger fumbling inside me, I would’ve attacked her, torn her flesh in pieces, or rather made her dance naked in front of everyone but what I don’t understand is why she has the power of breath of life. Nobody has that in our pack, and that’s my birthright as the first male-born prince of the Winterhaven pack. I am
Abena POV Attention everyone! That's the pack orator's voice; and immediately everywhere returned to silent. It is with deepest regrets and sorrow I hereby announce the death of Asher Throne. The Alpha of all Alpha’s of Winterhaven pack. While he will be missed by us all, here is the death wish of the alpha before passing away to join the moon goddess to look after us..."I want my new wife, Abena to remain the Luna until she chooses any of my princes as her fated mate and together they shall rule this pack with honor and diversity. I have bestowed her with the breath of life, only she has the power to heal now!"We will commence the burial of the late Alpha afterward the new Luna will choose his alpha and together they'll be marked. The pack Orator announced.I froze immediately, I can't believe what I just heard now. My alpha and husband is dead, and of all days, he chose to die, on the day which is supposed to be my happiest day ever.I knew he was sick, he told me himself that h
Athena/Abena POV (Five years later) "You look so colorful as the butterflies!" That's the flatterer's voice. I was standing by the window, being dressed by Omegas. Today, I'm getting married to the Alpha of Winterhaven Pack. Alpha Asher, the alpha of all alpha's guiding the territory of Winterhaven pack and beyond. I smiled and stole a quick glance of the flatterer, Gwen by name. The fact she doesn't know it's me now, is indeed troubling for me. She was my best friend, months ago, we were raking leaves together and now, she's by my side after I picked her singlehandedly to be my flatterer. We have been through a lot of shits together. I stole one more glance of her and hummed silently. The most adorable gift a Luna could ever possess are flatterers like Gwen, who though their beauty is of high value to the eyes that sees them, and to the lips that speak of them, are reduced to praise singers to Luna. I shake my head in total disappointment. I can't blow my cover, at least not no
Athena POVI kept running for my dear life, the satisfaction in my eyes for getting back to those sons of the bastard."Fools!" I mumbled inaudibly with my legs hastened in a fast marathon.I made my way to the west end of the hallway, my plan is to either alert my master; Alpha Asher or run into the female quarters. Only he can save me tonight, if not, my dead body would be hanging at the estate gate by morning. Just as I was about to head towards the female quarters where no male is allowed to enter, the king himself made it as a rule in the estate.I felt my two legs jammed together and I fell down on the cemented floor; fuck me! I have been caught."Please, forgive me!" I pleaded regretfully. I shouldn't have done what I did, how did I forget who I am in this place, just a weak Omega, who has no mate, no wolf, no family or friends to back me up. My end is near!"Why are you pleading for mercy when we haven't done anything to you yet?" The second one added. His eyes hold a circle o
Athena POVI felt something crawl on my bare hands. It went down my wrist and into my palms. I squeezed hard against it, crushing the poor insect in my palms.I had just woken from a blackout, but the big bad thing here was the fact that I could feel my eyes but I could not see. I moved my hands an
Athena POV"Wake, the hour has come!" I snapped my ears in an attempt to grab the hushed whisper, but that only jolted me out of slumber. I was the only one in the room, and next to me were the extra pillows I tossed to the other side of the bed. I rubbed my eyes carefully to enhance my vision, and
