12. Love Against All Odds

Harvey felt uneasy. He had already promised his mother to announce his companion, but he only wanted Lora. He stopped and turned to look for her. He wanted to apologize because the girl must be disappointed.

Lora didn't join the line of servants; she must be very upset now. Seeing that, Harvey knew that Lora was hiding in the basement. A place only Lora was willing to stay in, but as a resident of the palace, she knew where it was.

"Lora," Harvey called. Sure enough, Lora was curled up on the thin mattress on the floor.

Lora's head tilted up, seeing Harvey made her feel even more inferior. Lora felt even more that a slave was not worthy of love. Harvey sat next to her, hugging Lora tightly. From his body language, he still showed affection.

Lora didn't move, she was already heartbroken. For her, being loved by Harvey was a dream. Even if she could only see him from afar without having him, she would forget about it.
