Aria's POV

I went to my office after I signed our divorce paper. I knew I should go, but I had many things in my hand that I didn't want to leave without giving instructions about them.

I took my time to write the next step and the necessary confirmations for each matter I personally handled while he was in coma. I knew I could tell him directly, but I didn't want to see him anymore.

I spent the whole day in my office, just waiting for someone to kick me out of the house, but it never came. So I also took the chance to make some calls to find a small apartment where I could go after I left this house.

Aiden didn't say anything about when I should go, but I was planning to stay at least until tonight and leave before dawn.

I didn't want anyone to see me leaving.

Fortunately, no one disturbed me in my office. It was already nine o'clock in the evening when I finished all of the things I had prepared for him and his pack. I didn't have lunch and dinner, and by the time I was already in bed, my stomach was growling from hunger.

It was almost midnight, and I was sure the whole house was already sleeping.

I had no idea if Emmaline was here, as I didn't meet anyone after my counter with Aiden. But my woman instinct was telling me was because Aiden was already free of me . So, there was nothing stopping them from being together anymore.

I shoved my blanket and rose from the bed. As much as I didn't want to leave my room, my hunger wouldn't let me sleep.

I carefully walked the corridor, hoping I wouldn't meet anyone, when I heard footsteps by the stairs and something bumping against the wall.

I remained frozen in my spot, expecting the worst. What if it was them? Wrapped in each other's arms, kissing each other? I was sure that was possible because, in many instances, Aiden carried me in his arms from the ground floor to our room while we devoured each other's mouth.

I was still contemplating if I should turn around when Aiden finally came into view.

He was alone.

And on the way his body was bumping and pressing on the wall, I could tell he was drunk. He drinks occasionally, but not so heavily like this.

“ Aria!” He exclaimed when he saw me.

“ Aiden.”

“ I thought you left.”

“ I am leaving tomorrow.”

“ Sssh…. Nonsense. This house is too big. Stay.”

My eyebrows raised as I watched him approach me. I had never seen him like this drunk, so I had no idea how he usually acted in this condition.

“ I have a big problem,” he said as he stopped in front of me . “ I have two women in my house, and I'm only one. Imagine that, two!”

He raised his hands and showed me three fingers before he chuckled. “ Oh, fuck. I don't know how to count anymore.”

“ Aiden, you're drunk. Go to bed.”

“ Tell me, my beautiful wife. Did I drink while we were together?”

I nodded. “ But not as drunk as you are now.”

“ Hmmmm, does it mean I never had problems while I was with?”

“ Maybe…”

“ I only drink hard when I don't know what to do with my life.”

“ You should go to bed. It's late.” My eyes pooled with tears. If what he was saying was true, then at least I knew I never gave him a problem until now.

“ Are you not going to scold me? A wife does that when their husband drinks too much.”

“ Aiden, I'm not your wife anymore.”

“ Says who?”

“ I'll take you to your room,” I told him. This act he was playing was just breaking my heart.

“ Ssshh… Emmaline is in my room.” He put his fingers on his lips, telling me to be quiet.

My forehead creased. There was no way I would volunterily returned Aiden to her, instead, I made a detour and took him to one of the guestrooms at the farthest end of the second floor. The same floor of the room I was occupying.

“ 🎼 What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive… 🎼🎼”

Aiden was singing while we walked through the corridor and into the room. I couldn't help smiling, yet my eyes were getting misty.

I would miss this. I'd miss the way he'd sing at me whenever I was upset with him. It was his way of making me laugh because , for the life of me, he couldn't carry a tune.

“🎼🎼 And it's you and me and all of the people. And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes of you.🎼🎼”

I lowered his body onto the bed, but his and snaked around my waist so that he was able to take me with him, and I landed on him.

“ Aiden…” My voice came out throaty as my heart thudded loudly. It had been over a month since we became intimate, and with the situation we were in, I had no idea why the thought of sleeping with him crossed my mind.

I should learn to forget him. I should move on.

But maybe for tonight, I will let my eyes devour him. He was still singing with his eyes closed, and both his arms were now holding my body closer to him.

My hands on his chest were my leverage, so I could keep staring at him, trying to memorise his features.

All of a sudden, his eyes snapped open, and then he stopped singing. His hand on my waist moved up to cup the nape of my neck, and before I could think straight, he had already pushed my head closer.

One mouth crashed against each other.

The audacity of her to scream that to my face when she did the same thing, and she did way worse than I did.I immediately cut my laughter short, and a scowl formed on myself. “ I lied about being an Alpha to avoid women clinging to me as if I were a jackpot prize, while you lied because you wanted to cheat on Aiden!”In seconds she was already standing in front of my desk. Her hands slammed on the oak table as her eyes dilated. “ Do not judge me when you've never been in my shoes!”My nose flared. I abruptly pushed the chair back and stood up, resting my hands on the desk before leaning my face closer to her. “ Trust me. I never want to be in a whore’s shoes.”Everything happened so fast after that, and before I could react or do something, her small hand had already landed on my jaw and made my head swing to the right.I wasn't expecting that. And it stung.“ I'm not a whore! Take back

I honestly didn't know if I should thank Aiden or not because my boring life was suddenly flipped over.I felt I was also running against time, making sure Aiden and Aria got safely to the North. In the past few weeks, I had made more phone calls and bribed more people than I had in all my years as an Alpha, all to ensure they had what they needed. But I had no regrets. Why the fuck do I helped them or Aiden in particular? No, not because of Vanessa or Emmaline, whoever the fuck she is, especially since I could tell Aiden was smitten by his own wife or ex-wife.The desire to help him was primarily motivated my guilt because he saved my stupid ass, and it cost his mother's

Aria's POVAfter I told Aiden that might be pregnant, I stared to relax. In fact, I began to feel excited.I didn't expect his reaction, which made everything perfect. He wanted to see the results with me, but he was taking too long to get here, and the results were ready. The line at the counter might be long, so I had to check this on my own.My hand trembled as I raised the test stick in my hand. One line.I was wrong. I wasn't pregnant.I took a deep breath just in time for a knock to come. I lowered my hand and opened the door. Our gazes met, and I could still see the excitement in his eyes. I didn't want to prolong the suspense for him.

Aria's POVWe finally reached the regular road, and in no time, we were driving into the city. I kept looking back, checking if anyone was following us, but everything seemed normal so far.“ You can sleep,” Aiden told me.“ I'm not feeling that sleepy anymore. I will rest once we transfer to another car. I'm not comfortable here.”He simply nodded his head and continued driving. Aiden called someone after his call with Rasmus, and we got confirmation for a new car we could use once we reached that place. And from there, it would just be a couple of hours before we reached the North. It was noon, and my stomach was churning from hunger, but I didn't say anything. I wanted a new car first. So when we finally reached the car dealer building, Aiden wasted no time and grabbed the key, and we were already on our way out.He was holding my hand, and we were walking to the big parking lot where they pointed when my head suddenly felt light, and I almost stumbled if Aiden was not able to hold

Alpha Aiden's POV.“ I love you, Aiden.” Aria's voice came out soft, but I was sure I heard it.My foot stepped on the brakes and the car came to a sudden halt, making our bodies jolt forward.“ I'm sorry,” she gasped as her hands held onto the dashboard before her as if it could stop her from slamming there, but she had a seatbelt on, so I knew she was safely tucked in her seat.“ Did you just say what I heard you say?” I asked, ignoring the apology that came out of her lips because I had no idea what she was apologizing for.“ We'll….” She stammered, then she flashed me an embarrassed smile. “ You said it first.”“ I said. So you think…” A smile tugged at my mouth, but my eyes were watering. “..... It was appropriate and polite to say it back?”I couldn't contain the happiness in my chest.I had always been a storm, and Aria was definitely sunshine. It was easy to love her, but I felt good and exhilarated knowing this little ball of sunshine and butterflies had fallen in love with m

And Aiden saw that.He kept looking at me as he spoke back to him. “ Over my dead body, fucker. Stay in your line, or hide. Because this time, I'll be the one hunting you!”He didn't allow him to respond. After he was done talking, he dropped the call and threw the phone into the dashboard before stepping on the brakes, halting the car.He turned to look at me and reached for my hand. “ Aria, look at me!”My eyes were watering, and I knew my eyes would fall if I turned to him, I didn't want to cry any
