Hallucinations

We were in drama class, the teacher asked us to do a trust exercise, the typical exercise in which you have to drop to be caught by your partner. The times I had to do it with Caroline, I ended up on the floor with bruises on my leg.

-¿Are you okay? You've been very distracted.

-¿Huh?

-I said, you look weird today.

-Sorry, I didn't sleep at all last night.

-¿Because of the nightmares you told me about?

-Yes.

She was like that all day long, sitting in a corner and not communicating with anyone. Miranda told me that she used to scream in her sleep and wake up late at night.

I was curious to know what she saw at night, so that night I slept with them, taking advantage of the fact that Lucia used to escape at night to go to her boyfriend's room.

-This is going to be great, I never had a sleepover.

-We can get in trouble for this.

-I've never had a problem breaking the rules, ¿What exactly are you hoping to see?

-The monster or at least feel something.

-I'm the only one who can see it.

-Don't listen to what he's telling you, he's just imagining it.

That's why my brother didn't believe me. I was terrified that they might have returned. I showered to relieve the stress and came out of the bathroom. They had both gone back to sleep and I took the opportunity to open my medicine box. The expiration date was right and I was sure I was still taking the correct dosage. I was convinced I wasn't imagining it.

During class I made a huge effort not to fall asleep, I couldn't concentrate and I yawned all the time, my dark circles under my eyes were so noticeable that Mindy kept looking at me.

-¿Will you tell me what happened last night?

-You were there, ¿weren't you?

-Yes, but I didn't see anything, what were you dreaming, ¿that's why you were screaming so much?

-The same thing I already told you, the shadow was chasing me and I couldn't escape from it.

-¿Did you see anything when you woke up?

-I saw it behind Miranda, ¿you really didn't feel anything?

-No, ¿what did she do?

-I don't know what she wants, she likes to see me terrified for some reason.

A week later, Caroline was unrecognizable, she didn't eat or talk to anyone, she just stayed in her room not wanting to do anything. Miranda helped me to take her to the infirmary and we discovered that she was not the only one exhausted in the boarding school, several students were in the same situation.

-¿How did this happen?

-It must be a virus.

-A virus wouldn't do this.

-¿Why do you think not?

-It is very strange, they are investigating that it is not contagious. Anyway, I ask you to be careful.

-Yes.

-¿Did they tell you anything before they ended up in that state?

-I think they told me about weird dreams they had.

-Well, we'll leave her with you then.

-She's in good hands.

-And, ¿if the dreams have anything to do with it? -Yeah.

-I see Caroline put ideas in your head.

-They're not ideas, she told me the story about one of the trophies.

-It's just a legend.

-You saw how she looked when she woke up. Maybe it's just a suggestion.

-Maybe it's just a suggestion.

-¿How do you explain the dreams?

-It must be a coincidence.

After several days, half of the academy began to be affected by the virus, but there was one girl in particular, who seemed to be immune. A young girl with tattoos who was always seen accompanied by a goth girl.

I didn't think anything of it, until more students were infected, including me. Little by little my energy was weakening and I didn't understand why I was having the same dream as Caroline, but unlike her, I only saw her in my dreams.

Classes were suspended for a few days until the epidemic stopped. That young woman still had no symptoms and I needed to know why. I went to her room to talk to her, but her roommate would not let me see her.

They were together all the time and not just talking to each other. One day, I stood watching her room from a distance, waited for the goth girl to come out and took the opportunity to go in.

The girl was sitting on her bed reading a book on the occult. It was clear that she professed some strange religion.

-Hello," I said, interrupting her.

-¿Didn't they teach you that it's rude to enter without knocking?

-I'm sorry, but I've been meaning to ask you something for days.

-It's not a good time.

-It's important.

We heard her companion approaching and she asked me to hide under her bed, I obeyed her and kept quiet.

-It's not true, you sound just like my brother. I know they're real, because every time I see her I get weak.

During the night, Caroline kept screaming, she woke up at four o'clock in the morning with agitated breathing, we approached her and her breathing returned to normal. She stared at a spot in the room and suddenly froze for a moment. After a few minutes she returned to normal and went into the bathroom without telling us anything.

I woke up suddenly with my heart racing, I saw my friends next to my bed and the shadow behind Miranda. She was watching me with red eyes as a sinister smile crept across her face. She lunged at me piercing my body, I felt shivers and ran to the bathroom.

I felt afraid, my energy was weakening and I didn't understand why. I never told anyone, but when I was a child I was diagnosed with a mild case of schizophrenia, and thanks to early treatment, I was able to control the hallucinations.
