Chapter six - Seraphina

I didn't expect to be kissing Abaddon in the woods, would never have even imagined it, but now it's happening, I don't want to stop.

My hands are in his hair holding him against me, while he pins me to a tree, his body is flush with mine and the more he presses into me, the more I can feel his erection between my legs.

He lifts me up and I automatically wrap my legs around his waist. He groans so I pull back, worried I've accidentally hurt one of his injuries.

"Sorry, are you ok? What can I do?" I try to wriggle to my feet but he stops me with his hips, confusion making his brows pull down. "I don't want to hurt you, you made a noise, I thought…"

His mouth lands on mine again, his groin thrusting into mine until a similar moan escapes my lips and he leans back, a smug smile on his face as though he's proven his point.

"Oh." I say as realisation hits me, heat filling my chest, neck and cheeks the longer he watches me, keeping me pinned to the tree by the waist, my legs gripping his body and his erection pushing upwards as though pointing to where I want it to be. "Uh… so yeah, that was unexpected."

Feeling awkward, I shift a little, but it just makes his cock rub against me and another little gasp escapes me. I slap my hands over my mouth, dropping my eyes to his chest.

"Sera." He rasps my name and I'm not sure it's ever sounded as sexy as it does at this moment. "Sera, I want to kiss you again."

My head snaps up and our eyes meet for a fraction of a second, then his lips are on mine, his tongue sliding into my mouth and his body so tight against mine that you couldn't slide a piece of paper between us.

We're so wrapped up in one another, that we don't hear them come, I didn't even know we were this close to the border, but suddenly he's ripped from me, the sudden cold replacing the heat of his body and when my eyes focus, I see a group of six werewolves, four in wolf form, two as humans, both of whom are dragging Abaddon backwards.

The closest wolf shifts back to his human form, a disgusting leer on his face as he stands in front of me, too close, so I'd have to touch him to go anywhere.

"Well well well, aren't you a pretty thing, and so turned on, I can smell you a mile away." He grins at me but when he speaks, I know it's for Abaddon. "I'm so sorry to interrupt, but maybe I can help you out while your boyfriend's busy with my friends."

"Don't fucking touch her." Abaddon shouts, then grunts as one of the men kicks him in the stomach.

My eyes don't leave the dark green ones of the man in front of me, there's no speck of kindness or compassion in them, there's a reason this man isn't part of a pack and all I can think is that he must have done something incredibly evil.

"What do you say gorgeous, you want me to finish you off?" He chuckles, reaching out for me.

"I'd rather die." I grunt out and he laughs.

"Oh, that's going to happen, but we might have some fun with you first." The moment I feel his hand grab my arm, Abaddon twists, hitting and kicking out at the two men holding him. I raise my knee, slamming it between the legs of the man in front of me, he grunts, bending forward so I hit him in the back of the head, sending him to the floor and shifting in the blink of an eye.

Ana and I haven't practised as wolves yet, but I'm hoping Dina has some sort of natural instincts that may help, and she must have something because in seconds she's clamped her jaws around the neck of the man who touched me, breaking his spine then turning as another wolf rushes her.

I sit back, watching in awe as she takes on the final three wolves, scratching them and tearing bits from their body. Abaddon is still fighting off the two who were holding him, both of them shifted while he struggles against them as an already injured human.

The sight spurs Dina on, she finishes off the last of the three, leaping towards Abaddon before the third body even hits the floor.

She tears the throat from one of them, blood gushing out and covering her face, and the final man leaves Abaddon on the ground, hopefully unconscious and not dead, snarling and snapping his jaws at Dina. She lowers herself to the ground as if submitting and when he comes closer, she pounces, her teeth sinking into his neck, her feet kicking out to slice through his stomach. He rips open with a deafening yell, coating the rest of her body in hot sticky blood, his body falling with a dull thud, his eyes stay open, staring at me and I'm transported back to another scene like this in my mind.

The scent of blood was everywhere, but it's the eyes that haunt me. I was running late to meet them, so I was literally sprinting through the forest, oblivious to my surroundings and I saw Arya first, looking straight at me as she leaned back against the tree.

I remember waving at her and wondering why she didn't react, my steps didn't falter until I was by her side, shaking her, kneeling in the blood soaked forest floor. Her blood. I looked around, seeing the others in similar states and unable to understand what was happening, I just screamed for my dad.

"Sera, Sera, baby. It's dad." I feel hands on my arms, a blanket wrapped around me and finally, my dad's grey eyes filled with fear staring into mine and I realise I was screaming for him once again.

"Abaddon, is he ok?" I try to stand but my dad holds me still in the blanket. There's a crowd around us, everyone from the party, plus my dad, Alpha Eligor and lots of his warriors all checking the scene.

Abaddon is sitting up, Gene and Levi by his side, supporting him so he doesn't fall, he's staring at me but his usual mask is in place, so I can't tell what he's thinking.

"What happened?" Alpha Eligor asks, looking at Abaddon, his top lip curled in a sneer as he sees the state of him.

"Alpha… I…" He starts but I can see he's unsure what to say.

"It's my fault, Alpha." I say, dropping my head in submission and hoping the punishment isn't too severe. "I didn't want to be at the party anymore, so I left. The rogues came out of nowhere, they wanted to do things…"

I look up and see everyone's eyes on me, Alpha Eligor looks furious, so I need to sell the story more to hopefully elicit some sort of sympathy. I swallow, tasting blood in my mouth that isn't mine.

"They told me they were going to rape me, all of them, before they killed me." My dad's hands tighten on my arms, but I look up at Alpha Eligor and see he's listening. "One of them touched me, he grabbed my waist and held me against a tree, tore my clothing. Then Abaddon was there, he pulled him off of me and killed him, he killed them all."

"Really? You killed six rogues, all alone." Alpha Eligor looks torn between pride and disbelief, clearly knowing the wolfsbane would still be in Abaddon's system and how difficult that would make fighting against anyone.

Abaddon is still staring at me, so his dad calls his name and asks him if that is what happened.

"Yeah." Is all Abaddon says and his father wrenches him to his feet.

"You heard him, Abaddon fought off six adult rogues, single handed to protect the pack." He raises Abaddon's hand and everyone cheers his name. "He will make a fine Alpha when the time comes. This calls for a celebration."

"Alpha, with your permission, I'd like to take Seraphina home." My father says and Alpha Eligor finally looks at me again.

"Of course, don't punish her too severely, I think she's been through enough to realise the necessity to stay within the pack." He raises his eyebrow and I immediately understand the hidden meaning. He's rescinding his promise that I can leave to study. I'm trapped here now, my only hope now is that my mate will be from a different pack, one that allows women some freedom, because that's the only way I'm getting what I want now.

With a heavy heart, I let my dad guide me home, he doesn't say a word about punishment, just repeatedly asks me if I'm ok, then tells me to get in the shower.

It's only when I'm standing in the bathroom that I finally look at myself, blood covers me from head to toe, my cheeks streaky from my tears, but other than that, my eyes are the only thing not the deep red from the blood.

I stand under the hot water, long after it is running clean, staring at the plug and feeling numb. With one moment, everything I've ever wanted is gone and I don't know what to do now.

My mother calls my name, so I turn off the shower, wrapping myself in a clean towel and going into my room.

I barely flinch when I see Gene standing there, concern emanating from every pore in his body. Pushing past him, I pull the first clothes I see from my drawer and get into them, then stand there, unsure what to do next.

"Abaddon told me what really happened. He wanted to come himself, to check you were ok, but his father isn't letting him out of his sight." Gene says in a soft voice. "Why did you lie, Sera?"

"What else could I do?" My voice sounds devoid of its normal excitement and I barely recognise it as my own. "What would have happened to him if I told Alpha Eligor the truth?"

He doesn't answer, but his shoulders slump like he understands.

"I don't mean to be rude, Gene, but I'd really like to be alone right now. I'm tired." I don't add that I've lost my dream, it's all I can focus on, which makes me feel selfish but I can't help it and I need time to wallow.

"Abaddon will fix it. What you did, his dad is going to begin transferring the Alphaship to him as soon as he turns twenty-one and he'll fix it for you then." He says with such vehemence that I know he truly believes it, but I'm not so sure.

"Bye Gene." I climb into bed, pull my quilt over my head and close my eyes. Hearing him leave and the next voice I hear is my mother's, telling me she's put a hot chocolate on my bedside table and is going to bed if I need her.

I cry myself to sleep, allowing myself one night to dwell on my misery and then tomorrow I'll focus on a new plan to get away, even if all it means is visiting my sister's packs once I turn twenty-one in the hope of finding my mate somewhere else.
