Chapter 2: The Betrayal

Roxanne POV

I don't know what Vivian is planning this time, I'm quite restless at the moment as I feel like something wrong is happening. I was pacing back and forth in my room restlessly. 

I can't talk about this with my wolf figure because I haven't got one yet, even though I'm already 18 years old. 

"What should I do now? There's no way Vivian would forbid me from doing something just like that, she wouldn't want me to find out," I muttered, starting to think about escaping from the basement.

As I was thinking, I remembered that I had kept a piece of wire. I quickly looked for them under my rickety mattress. 

"It's a good thing I still have them here," I said with relief. 

I picked up two pieces of iron wire and moved to the door quickly.

By inserting the two wires into the keyhole and twisting them slightly, I was finally able to open the locked door. 

"Vivian thinks she can lock me up with just this." 

But, I can't just calm down because right now I have to go find Luke, my heart is very restless and uneasy right now when thinking about him. 

I quickly went out of the basement to look for Luke's whereabouts, my guess is that Luke will be in the pack house right now, considering he is an important person. 

Being familiar with the pack house, I sneakily walked towards the guest rooms on the east side of the mansion. 

From that row of rooms, I could see that there was one room whose door was not closed tightly and there was also light from inside. In the early hours of the morning, the light from the bed lamp was quite noticeable. 

I walked closer to the room to see if it was really the room Luke was using. And when I got closer to the door I could see Luke's figure in there, for a moment I was relieved. 

However, what surprised me was the fact that Luke wasn't alone, he was in the room with Vivian. And what surprised me even more was the fact that they started kissing passionately. 

My eyes rounded in shock at the scene, I had to cover my mouth so as not to be caught that I saw their immoral behaviour.

I still couldn't believe that my own step-sister was sleeping with my fiancé, unable to see further what they were doing. I ran from there with tears streaming down my face. 

Not wanting others to see my current sad state, I ran to the back forest that was rarely visited by others. I let go of my tears when I was deep enough in the forest. 

"Why are they doing this to me?!" I felt my chest hurt so much right now, it felt like a hand was firmly gripping the heart. 

"Even though all I had was that engagement, but-" 

It felt like my voice was choked with sobs that wouldn't stop. Finally, all I could do was hug my knees and cry alone until I was satisfied.

However, that didn't last long because moments later I heard another wolf howl from inside the forest. I immediately looked back to make sure, but there was no one there. 

"Are there other wolves who dare to enter our territory?" I muttered in surprise because this forest was still in the territory of the Crimson Star pack. 

Given that this was still in my pack's territory, I was curious to see if there really was someone who infiltrated their territory. 

After exploring the forest for a long time, I finally saw someone there. I was confused why there was someone there. As far as I know the warriors in the pack would not patrol this far in the morning like this. 

I didn't dare to go to that person because who knows whether he was a good or bad person, he could have harmed me later. I hid behind a fairly large tree while watching what that person was doing there. 

It looked like that person had killed someone there because I could see that there were many traces of blood on his body. "Damn, why is there such a dangerous person here," I thought fearfully, intending to leave immediately. 

But, unfortunately my foot accidentally stepped on a tree branch, my face immediately turned pale at that moment, that person must have immediately realised my current existence. 

And sure enough soon enough I heard the heavy voice of a man slowly walking towards me.

"There's a little bug coming." The man's voice was already behind my back.

I timidly looked back and how surprised I was when I felt the man pull my shoulder and slam it against the tree behind me. 

"Y-you! Why are you doing this to me?!" I screamed in fear, I tried to rebel, but still couldn't get out of the man's grip. 

"Since you've seen me here, then you must die," the man replied casually.

I could see his eyes watching me which made me tremble with fear. 

"I really didn't see anything." I shook my head vigorously, trying to convince the man not to kill me. 

The man grinned when he heard my words, he started to come closer and gently stroked my cheek and I could only stare at him uneasily. 

Somehow no matter how much I feared that man, I couldn't take my eyes off his dazzling dark black eyes. 

"How can I trust your words?" The man didn't budge and was still holding my body.

"Then, what do you want from me so that you can trust me?" I replied quickly. 

I unexpectedly felt a dagger under my neck, who knows what this crazy man was planning. 

"Tell me your name?" the unknown man said with a smirk on his face. 

For a moment I was speechless with confusion, thinking that there was no way this man just wanted to know my name?

However, as I felt the dagger being pressed closer to my neck, I panicked and replied, "You can call me Roxanne, Roxanne Willete."

The man's grin grew wider as he heard my name, what the hell is this guy doing. 

Then, what surprised me more was when he started to bring his face closer to mine, I closed my eyes, afraid that he might kiss me. 

But, instead of the kiss I felt, it was the man's low voice that tickled my stomach. Instantly, I opened my eyes in shame because I had expected nothing.
