“You did good up there. Effortless and confident.” He smiled at me as he kissed my cheek and held me to him, denying the people who offered for us to skip in line to serve ourselves first.
“I felt like I was shaking like a leaf.” I chuckled and wrapped my arms around his torso, resting my head on his chest.
“You’d honestly never know it.”
I just smiled and moved forward in line, both of us filling plates and bowls of what we wanted before finding a place to sit. I settled at the table without plates while Silas went to find us some drinks. I watched the crowd of people and smiled when I saw how happy and relaxed everyone was. I honestly hoped this was the right thing to do, reintroduce myself to the pack in this manner.
“Alright, I got us each a cup
Another up for the evening. Let me know what you think.
The next morning I stirred and looked behind me, seeing Silas sound asleep almost completely covered with the blankets, only the top of his head and his messy brown hair visible. I stifled a laugh and stretched before climbing out of bed and pulling on tights and a shirt from my dresser before slowly making my way downstairs to the kitchen. I went to the coffee maker and put on a full pot before going to the fridge and looking through it for things for breakfast. I had so many options, I just wasn't sure what I wanted, I wanted everything and nothing all at the same time. Deciding it might be nice to treat everyone to breakfast I took out the carton of eggs, bacon and everything I would need for pancake mix. I turned on the small radio on the counter and let it play low while I made everything, dancing around the kitchen and taking a few sample bites of
About an hour later, Silas’s mother came back and walked into the room with a few people behind her, some carrying boxes and a few carrying rolled-up carpets and packed up artwork. Yvette set out things on top of the desk and on the coffee table before looking around and getting the people to put the boxes down to the side so no one would trip over anything. While she was gone I had managed to clean the whole room so it no longer smelled dusty and unused. I had the windows open for fresh air and even managed to find a scented candle on the very sparse bookshelves. It was definitely an improvement. “You work fast my dear. How about we look through the boxes and we can decide what you want to keep and display in the room. Anything not used can just be boxed up and set aside so it’s not in the way.” Yvette offered as she spread out some paint samples on the desk.
I walked into Silas’s office and tried to keep my face clear of the storm of emotions I was feeling on the inside. Anders, Greg, Silas and Varin all stood around the room and waited in tense silence before Sillas finally came towards me and grabbed my hand in his, looking at me in concern. I gave him a tight-lipped smile and sat on top of his desk and looked at everyone in the room. God this had disaster written all over it.“Ok, so you know who that man is. What can you tell us about him?” Silas asked as I slowly kicked my feet back and forth and folded my hands in my lap. I sighed and shook my head before looking at everyone.“I was 10 Silas, my focus was my friends and homework seeing as both of my parents were teachers. I know some things about what was going on in the pack but not a lot. I had met Tristan on a few occasions. All I k
“Why is it that action movies are always so unrealistic?” Silas mused as he lay on the couch, his head in my lap and my one hand running through his hair. I snorted in amusement and tugged on his locks playfully. “Because if they were realistic they would be very boring movies.” I chuckled and sipped the last of my milkshake, pouting that it was all gone. Silas laughed at me and ran his hand over my bare calf, looking up at me with a teasing smile. “You’re cute when you pout my dear.” I huffed and stuck my tongue out at him before smiling as I reached for the rest of my meal from the diner and finished it, making sure I didn’t drop anything on Silas. “And you are tense and pretending you’re not. It’s- aaach!” I stopped mid-sentence and screamed, my body tensing and feeling like there was fire in my skin as I drop
After Gram and I had coco and double chocolate muffins I was so tired I was heavy-lidded while sipping the last of my coco. I decided to head to bed early and gave Gram a tight hug and hummed in her hold, letting her warmth and love soothe me. When I pulled away I felt better and sleepily went up the stairs and into the bedroom, sighing as I crawled into bed and curled under the covers, as I relaxed and closed my eyes, falling asleep within seconds. Sometime later I stirred as I felt Silas climb into bed with me, his scent enveloping me as he scooted closer and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close to his chest. I hummed softly and buried my head into the chest, entwining my legs with his. I heard him chuckle and move my hair away from my neck as he buried his face into my neck and inhaled the scent of my skin, leaving small kisses on my bare skin.
After we finished breakfast Silas and Varin went to the holding cells to question Tristan while I showed Jax and Torrance to my office, bringing a few boxes of things I wanted in there with me. As we got to the office building Sydney glared at me as we came in before her shrewd gaze when to Jax and she gave him a sickly sweet smile and came out from behind her desk to greet him, swaying her hips in the tight pencil skirt and bending a little at the waist as she shook his hand to display her cleavage a little more in her low cut blouse. “Hello, Alpha Jaxon. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Is there anything I can get you?” She asked with a flirty smile as she batted her lashes at him and kept her grip on his hand. He gave her a strained smile and took his hand back, sticking his hands in his pockets and shaking his head. “I’m fine, thanks anyway.” he smiled and st
I was organizing books on one of the shelves closest to my window seat when an anxious flutter started in my stomach and intensified with each passing second, an agitated tenseness started in my shoulders and a dull ache of a stress headache. Something was very wrong with Silas. I turned swiftly and speed walked to the door, just about to wrench it open when it swung inward and Silas stepped into the room. My arms were around him and I was kissing him deeply before I was even fully aware of the reaction, his arms holding me to him tightly as he lifted me and held my one thing in one hand while his other hand gripped my back. I wrapped my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck and kissed him deeply, all tongue and teeth as he gripped me hard enough to leave red marks in my skin. I pulled back enough to gasp out a few breaths and regain control of my breathing, searching his deep honey eyes for what was the matter, smooth
“You doubt me? How can you? We’ve promised each other going forward that no matter what we would trust each other, that we would do this together. So why now are you calling into question my feelings and promises?” I ask with a frown, my breathing hitched as I try to control my emotions so I don’t freak out or overreact. He sighs and looks away from me, moving to sit at the window seat. “I’m jealous, Kara. You’re intimate with him and it's open and public. I want that for us. I’ve always wanted that for us. It just seems there's always something in the way. First Orso, and now Silas. I just want the freedom to be with you without anyone else getting in the way.” he sighed heavily and ran his hand through his hair. “Now it just feels like there’s going to be something else in the way. Or rather, someone. That Alpha Kane and Magnus Horne seem to pay you a lot of attention and I’m not happy about it.” I scof
