RICKY

“Ricky! Ricky!” Melo said as she shook my shoulder. “Why aren’t you listening to me? Are you lost in your thoughts?”

“Uhm, no, I’m just, I’m just remembering about something that recently happened to me,” I said.

“Care to share what’s on your mind?”

“No, I would rather not.”

“Then answer my question! I’ve been asking you this question for a very long time,” she said angrily.

“What question,” I asked.

“You’re so lost in your thoughts that the question I’ve been asking you for the past ten minutes couldn’t get into your head.”

“Just ask me the question. I wasn’t paying attention then, but now I am. Unless you want me to get up and leave, ask the question that’s been bothering for so long,” I said.

“I’ve been asking you of your whereabouts,” she added. “Where were you last night, Ricky?”

“I was uhm, at the —I went out for a stroll yesterday,” I said as I cleared my throat.

“You were at the uh uh, Ricky you know you aren’t a very good liar. I can see through you, Ricky.”
