CHAPTER 1. 

*Maddy’s Pov* 

Maddy! 

It’s time to get up... 

You’re going to be late for school. Dad yells at me from downstairs. 

I thought it would be fun if I tried to “play dead.” I remain quiet so he doesn’t know I’m already awake. Dad yells again, but this time he’s much closer, so I assume he’s coming up the stairs. 

Entering my room, dad says, You know I’m aware you’re awake, right? Stop clowning around and get up. 

Unless you want me to give you a wet willy, Maddy, you better start rising from your coffin and get in the shower. Enough games, goofy. If you miss school, then I’m going to make you go to work with me on the weekend. 

Haha, I guess dad has had enough of my jokes because he pulled my blanket off of me. The action alone makes me giggle.

Maybe I’ll allow you to sleep in on Saturday before pack training, okay? 

Fine, but I need a ride today. My car is still in the shop. “Oh,” can we stop at the drive through for a strawberry milkshake? It’s cheat day. Mama will not be forcing a green smoothie down my throat, hehe. 

Dad laughed. 

Well, it’s your lucky day, Maddy girl. I don’t have any early meetings at the office this morning. 

Thank the moon. We get a little quality time together, daddio. 

So Pop, the school counselor, sent me an email last night stating she needs to see me in her office before first period. 

Dad, you think it has anything to do with getting into Brisbane college? Maybe I can get in early, after all. 

Maddy, did you forget what today is?

It’s the first day of November. Your Mama asked me to remind you the Luna wants to sit down with you. To plan out your birthday celebration. 

Thanks, big guy, please tell Mama Sonja I appreciate the reminder as well. Now out of my room, dad...

I finished my shower. 

Now I’m standing in front of my vanity in the bathroom. I cannot help but admire myself. I used to be a goofy-looking kid and now, according to my loved ones, I’m a natural beauty. My favorite characteristic about myself is the small freckles I have around my nose. 

When I was young. I used to get teased. I was taller than most girls. Sometimes I was taller than boys. 

I’m 5’9, weighing 140 pounds. My eyes are a golden brown and I have wavy dark brown hair with reddish highlights. I stay fit since I am the strongest female fighter in the entire pack. So my light brown skin has a nice golden tan. My best friend said I look like that famous human actress from that show Vampire Diaries. 

Though they did downplay the Werewolves in the show. “Nina Dobrev is gorgeous.” 

Going through my closet, I decided to wear a pair of my favorite black skinny jeans with a black Motley Crue T-shirt. On most days, I’ll wear my Chuck Taylors. 

Since I’m feeling extra today, I’m going to wear a pair of black Saint Laurent Opyum heels that have a gold-toned metal ‘YSL’ logo heel. I love to get dolled up, but not during school hours, unless it’s a special occasion. Today I’ll make thee exception. 

Taking my bag, I walk down the stairs and into the kitchen.

Hell yes, dad I would love one, but can I get a pumpkin spice bagel instead of the blueberry? Dad grins, sure Maddy, anything for my baby girl. 

Dad and I climb in his truck, on the way to school, we stop at foster freeze for my milkshake. The high school is on the south side of the pack territory. It’s a twenty minute drive away from our home. It’s also just a couple of blocks away from Grey wolves’ pack house. 

My name is Maddy Roe Shaw and I’m from the Grey Wolves’ pack. My 19th birthday is two months away.

My parents had gotten a divorce. When it was finalized, my father moved us four kids with him back to his original pack. My Mother continued to live in the Blue moon pack with her new boyfriend, who is now my stepfather. 

Once in a while, I’ll go visit my mother and Frank. mom had more kids with her husband, so I have half siblings. 

The relationship I have with my Mother Claire and her family isn’t that strong. 

My father, Ray Shaw, remarried as well. My step Mom Sonja is wonderful. Dad hit gold with her, but they never did have anymore children. 

Together, they own a chain of automobile dealerships and a chain of construction business. I’m more than proud of their success. 

Stepping out of the truck, I lean over and give dad a kiss on his cheek. Thanks for the ride, daddio Muah. As soon as I’m out of the truck, I get tackled. I can hear my dad laughing while driving away. 

Bye Mr. Shaw, you’re still my favorite hot dad in this pack! 

“Leah!” Stop checking out my father. It’s gross. 

Ha ha oh come on Maddy. Don’t be a cock blocker! My best friend yells before running away. 

“I’m going to vomit!” Chasing after Leah! I scream, Puta! Best friends can get an ass beating too! 

Leah’s giggling comes to a holt when she blindly runs into another student. I recognize him. He plays on the football team with my boyfriend. 

Hey Maddy. Jake has been looking for you.. I guess he went to pick you up for school this 

morning, but you had left with your dad.

Thinking to myself.. I wish he’d told me he was going to pick me up. “Leah.” If you see Jake on the way to homeroom, “please let him know I had to go visit Ms. Marsh first.” 

Jake has been my boyfriend since freshman year, now that we’re senior’s things have been a little rocky between us. It was bound to happen. We’ve known throughout high school that graduating and turning nineteen could change things for us. 

“I love him.” 

He’s a terrific guy, but we can’t ignore that we’ll find our fated mates soon. Jake’s birthday is a week before mine and we had agreed to stay together until we find our mates. We still have a couple of months to go. 

I want to enjoy our relationship while I still can... I knocked on Ms. Marsh’s door.

Good morning to you as well, Maddy. 

I apologize for canceling the last two appointments I had with you. 

No worries Miss. Shaw, this will be quick. Brisbane College is requesting that you write a “thesis.” It’s due by the end of the month. If all goes well, you should be getting that early acceptance you’ve been hoping for. 

Great, thank you so much, Ms. Marsh. I really appreciate it. I’m walking down the hall when the first warning bell rings... 

I rush to my class, just as I walk into the classroom, someone trips me! I almost fall flat on my face, but Jake catches me. He lifts me up and steadies me on my feet.. I turn around to see who dared to pull something like that on me. Of course, it’s none other than Liza Vanderose. 

Without hesitation, I punch the skank in her face. Bet you didn’t think I’d wipe that stupid smirk right off your ugly mug, did you bitch? 

Before The fight could escalate even further, I feel Jake’s arms wrap around me. He’s laughing. Ok baby, calm down, my little tiger. Liza is going to be feeling that punch all damn day. 

I look up and smile at my boyfriend...
