Silja POV

Mrs. Sinnett and Trina Mayer are by far two of the most difficult clients I have had in a while. By the time we were done, and I started showing proofs to them on the computer, they finally settled down.

“You were right about the second landscape for the dress. It lends beautifully to the Luna Ceremony theme.” Trina said.

“Thank you, Ms. Mayer. I’m so pleased you liked the idea and results. Would you like me to include any specific pictures from this set with the initial set?”

“Yes. I would like the first three from the second set.”

“Excellent choice, I agree with you.” I said.

After we finalized the details and she paid the first half of the payment, I told her I would have it delivered the day before her Luna Ceremony after the second half of the payment is received. She signed the agreement and left with Mrs. Sinnett, and I smiled at another satisfied customer.

A short while later my boss, Ebba, came in. She is a short lady with bob haircut. Her hair is white, but she doesn’t look a day over forty, even though she is almost sixty. She is wearing a bohemian skirt and top, with a chain belt around her waist and brown strappy sandals. She always looks so relaxed. I wish I could be that relaxed.

“Silja, my dahlin’. How did your first client go?” She asked me.

“Oh, it went great, Ebba! I even got her to buy photos from an impromptu second set.” I said, excitedly.

“Oh, that’s wonderful. Good job!” She said. “Tomorrow, we have a family portrait for a family of fours. It’s the Harrington’s. Usually, the kids are distracted and don’t focus long to take the picture. The kids are little sweet morsels of cuteness; however, their parents are a bit serious. So, use caution when dealing with them. If you can win the kids over, you will win the parents over.”

“Kids rule, parents drool. Got it.” I said with a chuckle.

Ebba chuckled as well. “Now, what do you have planned for the weekend?”

“Me? Oh, I was hoping to go home for the weekend and see my parents. I was planning to leave Friday night and be back by Sunday evening.” I said.

“Well, that is wonderful. Family is important. You know my son is recently single. If you would like me to introduce you to him, I would be glad to. I think you are a good girl and you two would hit it off.” She said.

I groan internally. I do not need to think about men right now. I especially don’t want to think about the boss’ son. “Ebba, I’m just not interested in dating right now. I want to grow my portfolio right now. When I’m ready, I will let you know.” I said.

She sighed, “Silja, take it from an old lady that waited a long time in life. When you find love, hold on tight and don’t let it go. Careers come and go. But it won’t be beside you when you breathe your last breath, but those who love you will be.”

I smile gently at her and hold her hands. “I understand. I promise if that day ever comes, I will be ready and receptive.”

After cleaning up and putting everything away, I called Romy and told her to meet me at my place for my proper breakdown. All day long, in the back of my mind, I was thinking about how I have been marked and mated by my own mate and I don’t even know who it is. All I have is a first name. It’s so common that it would be like searching for a needle in a haystack and that haystack is in a dark cave.

Romy comes over and she has pizza and ice cream. “I come bearing gifts as my apology for letting you get hooked up with Mr. Hottie with a body.”

I laughed. “Really, it’s okay. It was my own fault. I shouldn’t have started drinking with you. But there is something serious that happened.”

“Okay, let’s discuss over extra cheese and pepperoni.” She said.

I just looked at her and pulled my collar down.

“WHAT?!”

“Yeah. Pau said that guy is actually my mate. I don’t know who he is. Only that his name is David and he is rich. Not that it matters.”

“Not that it matters?! He is your mate! How did you not know this when you woke up?!”

Then we both said it at the same time, “Aconitum.”

I sighed, “Yeah. I’m not touching that stuff ever again. I lost my virginity to my mate, and it wasn’t even special. I don’t even remember it.”

“Or maybe he wasn’t memorable and that’s why you don’t remember it.” She said, trying to make him the problem and not me.

I laughed out loud. “That has to be it. He was so terrible in bed that I couldn’t remember anything special that he did. He must not know how to work it.”

Romy and I joked the entire night, but towards the end I settled down and became serious. “You know I wanted to save myself for my mate. It appears I did that. But I’m also not ready to settle down. I’m just starting to build my portfolio.”

“Yeah, but you are marked now, Silja. You know the Moon Goddess is going to make you cross paths again.”

“Perhaps it won’t be any time soon though. Maybe it will be prolonged.”

“You know better.” Romy said. “What do we learn in school about mates, huh? We learn that we appear in each other’s life when we are needed. Whoever Mr. Right was, he is going to need you, and you are going to need him. My guess is you will need him more than he will need you.”

“Is that right?” I said crossing my arms.

“Yeah, that’s right.” She said seriously and I know she is not kidding. “No offense, Silja, but you are way too innocent. The kind of innocent that people trick and scheme against. You may be independent, spirited and bright, but there is always someone around the corner that will try to snuff it out. David is rich. Remember he was sporting that black card and you woke up in a five-star penthouse. He is the kind of guy that wrestles with barracudas every day.”

“I guess we will have to see. I’m sure it’s not one sided though. I may need him, but I’m sure he is probably going to need me too.”

  • Alpha's Picture of Regret   Epilogue

Gerard POV It’s been nineteen years since Silja and I got together. Lennox turned eighteen, and he is going to be taking over as Alpha soon. Silja has raised him, the same way she saved me. By making sure he saw the world through a different lens. Lennox grew up with the sensibility not found in most grown men who currently sit on the council. The only time he loses his senses is when it comes to Erik and Romy’s daughter, Haven. She is turning eighteen tonight. Erik and Romy had three kids. A son, Kyle, then Haven. Then their youngest daughter, Audrina. They all grew up together, but Lennox has always been protective of Haven. She gets annoyed with him, but Lennox doesn’t care. When they were growing up, they followed each other around. As Haven grew up, the boys started taking notice of her, and Lennox was not having it. He would scare all the boys away, and Silja and I would look at each other knowingly. By the time Lennox was fifteen, and Haven was fourteen, Silja and Romy were

  • Alpha's Picture of Regret   Chapter 141: Adelina

Silja POV “GED! THIS DOES NOT FEEL GOOD!” I gritted through another contraction. We didn’t have any other issues after we reunited. Things have gone smoothly. Larken was begging for mercy by the time Erik brutally killed him. Ged said that on day three, Erik tied Larken by his limbs and had him pulled in opposite directions. His limbs tore away, and Larken died instantly. The vivid scene Ged explained made me lose my lunch. During the night, my stomach started feeling the tight band of contractions, and Ged rushed me to the pack hospital. I’ve been here for hours, and our daughter has decided she doesn’t want to come out. “ARGH!” Ged is right by my side. “Breathe, baby. You got this.” “Piss off!” I screamed, and then I cried out. “I’m sorry, Ged. I love you. Make the pain stop. Please!” Ged is looking at me hopelessly. One minute I’m angry, the next I need him closer. I’m sure I’m driving him crazy, but the nurse is smiling. “All women do this. She will love you one minute, and

  • Alpha's Picture of Regret   Chapter 140:  Nothing to fear

Gerard POV My daughter is nestled safely inside my mate. She looked peaceful, and I am already wrapped around her finger, and she isn’t even here yet. I’m done for, and I am happily ready for it. Silja and I went to Jaul and Irina’s room. We knocked before entering, and Jaul was sitting beside her bed, holding her hand. When they saw us, they both smiled. “There they are!” Irina said cheerfully. “How are you feeling, Sils?” “I’m fine. A little sore, but nothing I can’t handle. How are you?” “I’m fine, but I think my dear mate is terrified that if he blinks, I will disappear,” she said teasingly as she looked at Jaul with pure adoration and love. “I’m not letting you out of my sight, sweetheart.” Silja and I both laughed. From behind, we hear a familiar voice. “That’s exactly how I expect my sons to act.” Silja smiled, “Nolan!” “Silja, my dear girl. Look at you, giving me another grandpup already.” “Granddaughter, Dad,” I said. Nolan smiled widely. “Does Will and Trudy know?”

  • Alpha's Picture of Regret   Chapter 139: Where Am I?

Silja POV ‘Sils. Wake up.’ I hear Pau in the distance. My body feels weak, though. My mind is trying to turn on, and I am having issues. Then I remembered Irina, and I jolt awake. “IRINA!” I screamed. I look around, and I am not in that old hospital room. My hands are not bound over my head. And Irina isn’t strapped to a medical bed. In fact, she is not in here. Then my thoughts go to my daughter. My hands fly to my stomach, and there is a large pup bump still there. My wrists are sore, and when I looked down, there was bruising on my wrists from being chained up. My face feels sore, and I can see out of my left eye, but it doesn't feel swollen. I assess the room, and no one is here with me. Where the hell am I? Where is Ged? Just as I’m about to get up and figure out where I am, the bathroom door opens. Ged walks out. He sees I’m awake. “Silja!” He said with wide eyes. “Ged!” I said, and the damn I’ve been holding onto for months caves. I ugly cry as he pulls me into his arms

  • Alpha's Picture of Regret   Chapter 138: I’ve been waiting for this moment

Gerard POV“Erik, Larken is planning to take back Golden Dawn, but he is planning to use Silja to trap Romy.”Erik is driving like a man on a mission. He snarled. “I’m killing him, Gerry. Don’t try to fucking stop me. This ends now!”“Agreed,” I said. “Silja said she had a surprise for me.”“Yeah, you won’t be able to miss it, Gerry. We need to hurry.”“Then show me what this fucking truck can do, Erik. Drive it like you fucking mean it!”He smirked. “You got it, Alpha.”He slammed his foot on the gas, shifted gears, and took us through a backwoods path.“Where are we going?”“Fuck streets. I’m cutting through and shaving fifteen minutes off our trip.”I held on and growled approvingly. Give Erik permission to go nuts, and he wastes zero time. At one point, the truck flies over a small hill and hits the ground ahead hard.“Fuck yeah!” I yelled.‘Gerry, you are not a hundred percent strong yet. You have to be careful to fight or hand me control.’‘Understood, Terk. You are going to take

  • Alpha's Picture of Regret   Chapter 137: Traitors

Silja POVI wake up. I’m groggy. I groan low and open my eyes. When I look around, I’m in a rundown hospital room. My arms are chained over my head. That’s not what’s alarming, though.Irina is strapped to a medical bed. Her legs are locked in an open position, and her body is strapped down on the bed. No one else is in the room at the moment, but this scene does not give me any good feelings.‘Pau? Are you okay?’‘Yeah. I’m weak, though.’I breathed. Okay…I need to think quickly. “Irina!” I called out low. “Irina, wake up.”Her eyebrows start furrowing, and she groans low. “What happened? Where are we?”“Larken. He kidnapped us. Our guard was working for him. I have no idea where we are, Irina. Are you able to reach Jaul through the mind link?”I see her try, but she starts breathing a little panicked. “I can’t reach him. What if something happened? Are we too far away? Where the hell are we? Why am I strapped to this bed?”I hear chuckling from the shadows. “I’m getting my pack back,

Gerard POVAt fifteen to noon, I make my way to Medallion for lunch with Trina. It’s only a block away, so I will be on time. I don’t think this is going to be a pleasant conversation, but I need to be up front and honest with her. I don’t want to complete a mate bond with her and there be any secre

Gerard POV“Come on, what else do you remember about her?” Erik asked. “Think man.”I sat back and started thinking about my mystery mate. “She has long red hair. Gerard POVI wake up, stretching. Last night was a lot of fun. That woman. She was young, drunk, flirty, fun and sexy. My body moved with every one of her curves last night. I only remember getting her to the hotel room. She wanted to continue dancing and drinking and I joined her. It’s honestly th

  • Alpha's Picture of Regret   Chapter 1: The Mistake

Silja POVMy head is pounding. That’s the last time I celebrate anything with Romy. Her idea of fun is drinking until we stop using good judgement. Even though we are wolves, we can still get lit. It only takes having liquor with some aconitum mixed in to get a wolf drunk. Since I basically live my
