Evelyn's Pov

“I have one last chance to make things right. One last chance to live a good life. Moon Goddess… I just need you to make me the mate of the Alpha. I’m begging you. My life is on the line now.”

I looked at the bright moon holding the necklace that my mother had given me, I prayed nonstop, whispering over and over.

Begging the Moon Goddess felt like the only thing I had left. My life had never gone in a smooth direction. Every step had been a fight. But if I became the Lunar of the Alpha Pack, things would change. No one could look down on me again.

No one could call me the weakest Omega in Shadow Moon Pack. No one could treat me like an outcast.

“Come on, let’s go. It’s almost time!” Stella’s voice broke into my thoughts as she just entered my room

“Hold on,” I muttered. “I’m still praying.” I closed my eyes with my hands locked on each other and tightening in desperation as if the more I squeezed the more I had chances of getting my wish.

The necklace covered around my palm glowed but my eyes were closed to see it.

“Oh, come on. What exactly are you playing for?”

I sighed. “I’m begging the Moon Goddess. I’m begging her to make me the mate of the Alpha.”

Stella laughed, loud and shameless. She found it hilarious.

Of course she did. Stella was the lowest-ranked werewolf in the pack too, marked as an outcast after the incident in her past. The only reason she was still kept around was because of her rare healing gift… and maybe a few other reasons that no one spoke about.

“I really don’t know why you’re so bent on being the Luna of the pack.” Stella’s voice carried doubt.

“You know there are potential candidates for it, right? Hayley is there. We have Kira, the strongest female in the pack and then Tina too. Those are the real candidates. They’re strong and a lot stronger than you.”

She looked at me, almost sorry. “You think you can really become the Omega? I’m sorry, but it’s a bit..”

“No need,” I cut her off, holding up my hand. “Don’t say it. I’ll pray and beg the Moon Goddess.”

“As you wish,” Stella muttered, shrugging.

“Who knows? Maybe luck will be on my side this time.” I forced a small smile. “I’ve never been someone blessed with luck my entire life. And I’ve never begged the Moon Goddess for anything. Hopefully… she grants this one wish for me.”

“Alright, fine, I’m sorry now,” Stella said quickly. “You know I’m really rooting for you. I just don’t want your hopes crushed. I wouldn’t want you taking an emotional hit.”

I looked at her.

“But I really do hope she chooses you,” she added softly. “Here, take this. Let’s go. You need to look more beautiful than those three I mentioned.”

“Alright, fine. What do you think I should wear? This gown?” I held it up.

Stella squinted. “I thought you said you wanted to become a groomer? Come on. Go with something hotter. Sexier.” She dug through my clothes, tossing one out. “Yes, that one. You should be seducing the Alpha, not acting like an Omega.”

“Come on…” I sighed, half laughing.

“Go get dressed,” she insisted, shoving the outfit at me.

“Fine, fine. If that’s what you want.” I smirked. “I’ll seduce him and make him feel like like grabbing me the instant he sees me” I said jokingly

“Yeah, yeah. Go get dressed. We’re late.”

“For someone who keeps saying she’s not interested in being the Alpha’s mate, you sure seem like you’re rushing to get ready.”

“Excuse me…hold on, hold on. Don’t get it twisted.” I shot her a look. “I am interested in the whole ceremony, the show, the gathering… but I’m not interested in actually becoming the mate.”

“I see, I see.” Stella smirked. “Speaking of the Alpha… What's with you and Theodore? I don’t see you two talking anymore. You used to be so close.”

The room fell quiet. I was already slipping into my clothes, avoiding her eyes.

“He just… kept his distance,” I muttered. “I guess because I’m an Omega and he’s the Alpha. Whatever bond we had, it’s gone now.”

“Ah,” Stella said with a faint smile. “Friendship, you see… it doesn’t always survive the titles.”

“So that’s why…” Stella started.

“Stella, don’t.” My voice tightened.

“I get it now. You want to be…”

“Stella, I said don’t.”

“You want to be the Luna of the Alpha Pack. You want to be with Theodore, don’t you?”

My heart beat skipped and shouted. “Fuck you, Stella. Fuck you. I hate you.”

"That's why you are begging the Moon Goddess so much, killing two bird with one stone huh"

I kept quiet knowing she was right but was it a bad thing to want something good?

“You’re so much in love.” Stella teased me again.

"Stella, leave me alone, I still hate you.."

"I love you too baby"

Then I stepped out, my black hair falling down over my shoulders. Coily, full, and beautiful, it framed my face just right. I wore the dress Stella had pushed on me, and for a moment, even I had to admit I looked different and really beautiful .

I wore a black, gloomy gown with shiny pieces scattered across it, catching the light with every move. It gave off that hot, sexy vibe Stella wanted. My black hair spilled down, coily and bold, completing the look.

"Now that's my hot baby girl" Stella said, admiring me as she inhaled my charming perfume scent and was drowning in my look.

“Liar!! Let’s go,” I said, brushing past her but she felt I was too slow and was delaying her so she dragged me as we both ran.

Stella was faster, but she slowed her pace to match mine. In no time, we arrived at the ceremony grounds. The space was outside the huge mansion, and everywhere was decorated. Everywhere was decorated. I feel its life. Lights were everywhere. The moon was glowing bright

As soon as we arrived, I felt the air shift as the crowd all seemed to glare at me with eyes which followed me, filled with disdain. They were judging me for my rank and my past and could feel it in every glance.

I didn’t care though I never had...so why start now?

“Come on,” Stella said softly, sensing my tension. She had been the only one watching my back since forever. Her presence steadied me.

Very soon, the ceremony began.

I spotted Theodore, the Alpha of Shadow Moon Pack and my heart beast increased. He was walking onto the grounds with his two Betas at his side, followed by several Omegas.

They moved toward the high peak where the rest of the pack gathered. Theodore climbed onto the rock at the center, his presence commanding.

All eyes turned toward him. The pack members, about a hundred strong, stood in silence. Theodore’s eyes glowed red, and instantly, every whisper stopped and focused their attention on him.

Today was the day he would be blessed with a Luna, his fated mate. If the ceremony succeeded, the pack would grow stronger and united under his power.

“Today is a special day for the Shadow Moon Pack. I have decided to let the Moon Goddess Bless me with my fated mate and bless us with a Luna ... .and together our pack becomes stronger!!!”

immediately after he spoke everywhere cheering for him and then after a while the ground became quiet.

The Moon glowed and shone as bright as ever focusing on the ceremony grounds and then the light was focused on two individuals.

One light shone brightly at Theodore the Alpha and the second one was on me!!!

‘Oh my God! Me me me I was chosen’

I could feel the warming feeling in my body as my wolf stirred alive, reaching for him. For one breathless moment, the Moon Goddess had answered me. My heart nearly burst with happiness.

I turned to Stella and I was smiling and covered my mouth holding myself from screaming. Stella couldn't believe my eyes…no one could. Out of all the best potential candidates I was chosen.

Everyone had this ugly look on their faces as they didn't approve of me or weren't pleased with the Moon Goddess decision. But I didn’t care that they couldn't do anything about it.

I stepped forward smiling at my Alpha, my fated mate…I looked into his red eyes and he frowned.

Before I could take any more steps I heard his deep voice and pain struck my heart.

I had never felt so much pain in a long while that my body vibrated and became weak that instance that i almost fell. My world crumbled and the last hope I had was gone.

"I, Alpha Theodore, leader of the Shadow Moon Pack, reject you, Evelyn, as my mate. I will never accept you. I do not accept you and I will never accept you.”

“Leave..Now!!!”

The last part shocked me more than ever.

“What???” I shouted in anger and pain

The crowd gasped. My throat burned with a scream I couldn’t release. The Moon Goddess had given me my mate… and he had just shattered me in front of everyone.

The worst part of all…he meant it.

  • Alpha's Rejection, Rival's Claim    Chapter 4: Mate

Theodore's Pov The last battle I had was where the problem of my illness started. At least that was the only reasonable explanation I could give myself. Because how could I..a strong Alpha werewolf not heal from the attack of another Alpha. The battle was tough but I was able to defend my Betas and get away from those Alphas. They were quite strong and had been able to give me serious injuries but that was it. I had healed from all the attacks. My body was smooth but the problem according to the beta Healers was that I had either an internal injury or I had been infected. “Call Evelyn..maybe only she can save me…I can't die now a lot is at stake” I finally gave in after several thoughts and persistence from Diego, other beta and Elders. “Finally you are thinking straight” Diego said and dialed her number immediately while I was lost in the thought of the night I made a decision that hurt her. The night the moon stood up high in the brightest, shining and illuminating the cloud

Evelyn Pov I rubbed my temples, trying to block out the memory of that day. The rejection, the humiliation, the whispers behind my back “rejected mate,” they’d said. The Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack, Theodore Wales, had shattered me in front of everyone. 'Now that he was in trouble he dares ask from my help to heal him and drag me back to the world left and abandoned ' I leaned back against the cold wall outside the clinic, trying to catch my breath. My hands trembled slightly not from fear, but from the rush of anger, old wounds reopening, and the weight of the life I had built on the line. “He said I should call you, or I’m afraid he would die.” Diego word had hit me so hard the it made me squeeze my fist when I thought about it Hearing this made my heart ache. 'He asked to call me after all these years? Because he was dying' I was pissed and very angry. I was going to get dragged back again to that life. Was I going to let him do this to me?' But yet my foolish heart ached

Theodore’s PovThree years have passed so far and on this day there was a meeting with the Elders and the Top Strong werewolves in the pack which had gone on for hours... far too long that I had planned.Werewolves in the pack voices were rising and falling as they were arguing about the subject of the alliance I was planning. The Alliance of my pack and the Crimson Blood Pack. The idea was simple enough: a peaceful treaty, dividing the territory so there would be no more bloodshed between us.But the Elders kept on disagreeing claiming they had pride to keep. Pride that was making more and more people die whenever they clashed.I stayed quiet at first. Listening. Watching. Letting them talk themselves in circles. But when it seemed the final agreement was finally close, I stood, feeling the weight of every eye on me.“Soon, I will meet with the Alpha of the Crimson Blood Pack myself,” I said. My voice carried, calm but sharp. “We will sign this treaty in person. Our packs will..”The
