Evelyn Pov

I rubbed my temples, trying to block out the memory of that day. The rejection, the humiliation, the whispers behind my back “rejected mate,” they’d said. The Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack, Theodore Wales, had shattered me in front of everyone.

'Now that he was in trouble he dares ask from my help to heal him and drag me back to the world left and abandoned '

I leaned back against the cold wall outside the clinic, trying to catch my breath. My hands trembled slightly not from fear, but from the rush of anger, old wounds reopening, and the weight of the life I had built on the line.

“He said I should call you, or I’m afraid he would die.” Diego word had hit me so hard the it made me squeeze my fist when I thought about it

Hearing this made my heart ache. 'He asked to call me after all these years? Because he was dying' I was pissed and very angry. I was going to get dragged back again to that life. Was I going to let him do this to me?'

But yet my foolish heart ached to see him. Deep down I wanted to rush over.

'Just to save him' I console myself knowing if I was to set eyes on him I wasn't sure what would happen to me. But I couldn't let him die

I forced myself to stand. My life wasn’t about being weak. It was about saving lives. It had always been that way since I left — the clinics, the emergencies, the hours spent fighting to keep someone else alive. That was my choice. That was my power.

"Fine I'll be there" I said then hung up before falling on a chair outside to sit.

Sitting in that chair, I let myself breathe for a moment. Hatred, they said, was a poison. But I knew better. Hatred fueled me. It sharpened my instincts, hardened my resolve, and in this moment, it made me unstoppable.

Theodore Wales the Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack, the man who had destroyed my heart had crossed the line into mortal danger. And now, whether I wanted it or not, I was going back.

Because saving a life, even his, meant stepping into the storm I had once fled. And I wasn’t afraid of storms anymore.

I pushed myself up, straightened my coat, and let the anger settle into focus. I would face him. I would face the pack. I would face everything I had left behind, all the lies, all the power, all the danger.

And I would not fail.

After about half an hour, a deep growl announced the arrival of the pack’s vehicle. I moved some steps closer as the door moved and opened

A figure came out in a black top and I immediately recognized the face of the man who walked to me.

It was Diego, Theo's strongest beta and very close friend the one I spoke with on the phone

I inhaled and breathed out to calm myself before I moved toward him.

'Here I go'

“Evelyn, thank you for coming to treat him,” Diego said, his tone careful but sincere.

“Where is he?” I asked immediately, not wasting a word on pleasantries. My focus was already on the task ahead, letting go of the past and doing what I came to do.

“In the mansion. He can’t leave right now. He’s resting in his bed,” Diego answered. My chest tightened slightly, worrying prickling at me, but I kept my expression calm, controlled.

Diego noticed, I could tell. His eyes softened just enough to betray the thought running through his mind: I was no longer the fragile girl who had cried over rejection or begged for affection. I had changed. I was stronger now, sharper, steadier.

“How serious is it that as an Alpha he can’t heal on his own?” I asked, aware that this was a rare and dangerous case. By now, Diego had opened the door for me, and I slipped into the back seat of the car.

“That's serious. The healers we have aren’t as strong or special as you,” Diego admitted. His words weren’t meant as a compliment, only the truth.

I let the statement sink in silently. I had always been different. Born a hybrid, my father an Alpha werewolf, my mother a witch. People had called me an “abomination,” condemning my parents’ forbidden love. My witch side was dormant, my wolf side normal, but my healing abilities… that was my gift. My curse, depending on how one looked at it.

“If it’s that serious, why didn’t you seek help from witches?” I asked, curiosity and suspicion lining my words. There had to be other options. Why me?

Diego exhaled sharply. “You think we haven’t tried? They despise us after the big war years ago. I nearly died asking for help myself. If it weren’t for the help of the Old Witch, I wouldn’t be here.” He paused trying to correct his tone

“Look… he didn’t want to contact you, despite my insistence for weeks. Not until it became critical. He refused.” Diego’s voice carried frustration, barely restrained. There was something more there a mixture of guilt, anger, and perhaps… respect.

“You know he didn’t… never mind. We’re almost there,” Diego said, cutting himself off. He didn’t say anything again, rather he changed the topic. I could tell he wanted to say something important but before I could speak the car parked in front of a mansion

The mansion loomed ahead, silent and imposing under the moonlight. I squared my shoulders. My heart raced, but I refused to let it show. No matter what awaited me inside, I had a job to do.

I remember every single detail of this place clearly. There wasn't much difference compared to last time. I didn’t know why but memories, not fun ones, were entering my mind but I cleared them out trying to focus.

"Let's go inside he is waiting" My heart beat increased.

I took a step forward away from the car and then someone rushed outside to Diego with a worried expression.

"What's going on Dina?" Diego moved closer and asked.

"It's Theo..he he"

……..

Mason's Pov

At the Crescent Pack Mansion a beta walked in looking sharp and fast with his slim stature. He entered a room full of beta and just one Alpha. The leader of the Crescent pack. Kyle was in charge from watching over the other packs and as usual he came to deliver his report.

“Alpha Mason,” Kyle began, his tone clipped but respectful and I nodded for him to go ahead

“I’ve been monitoring the perimeter. Nothing unusual until tonight, but Diego has just stepped out of the mansion.”

He paused, eyes narrowing. “It seems… Something important is happening. He moved with purpose, not his usual casual stride. Whatever it is, it’s deliberate.”

Another beta glanced toward him, frowning. “Do you think it’s… the Crimson Blood Pack again? Or some other threat?”

Kyle shook his head. “Not entirely sure. There’s a subtle tension in the air like the pack itself is holding its breath. Diego wouldn’t leave without any reason, especially at this hour. Personally I think he went to meet up with someone.

"It can't be those Crimson Blood Pack if not he would have gone with Theodore.. I still can’t get why he hasn't made a move yet" I said.

Something told me tonight would not be routine. Something told me the air was shifting, and whatever was coming, it was bigger than the usual patrols or minor disputes.

Something had been going on and I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

"What about the Crimson Blood Pack?" I asked.

"They are planning on moving striking tonight" everyone was shocked.

Theodore's Pov The last battle I had was where the problem of my illness started. At least that was the only reasonable explanation I could give myself. Because how could I..a strong Alpha werewolf not heal from the attack of another Alpha. The battle was tough but I was able to defend my Betas and get away from those Alphas. They were quite strong and had been able to give me serious injuries but that was it. I had healed from all the attacks. My body was smooth but the problem according to the beta Healers was that I had either an internal injury or I had been infected. “Call Evelyn..maybe only she can save me…I can't die now a lot is at stake” I finally gave in after several thoughts and persistence from Diego, other beta and Elders. “Finally you are thinking straight” Diego said and dialed her number immediately while I was lost in the thought of the night I made a decision that hurt her. The night the moon stood up high in the brightest, shining and illuminating the cloud

Theodore’s PovThree years have passed so far and on this day there was a meeting with the Elders and the Top Strong werewolves in the pack which had gone on for hours... far too long that I had planned.Werewolves in the pack voices were rising and falling as they were arguing about the subject of the alliance I was planning. The Alliance of my pack and the Crimson Blood Pack. The idea was simple enough: a peaceful treaty, dividing the territory so there would be no more bloodshed between us.But the Elders kept on disagreeing claiming they had pride to keep. Pride that was making more and more people die whenever they clashed.I stayed quiet at first. Listening. Watching. Letting them talk themselves in circles. But when it seemed the final agreement was finally close, I stood, feeling the weight of every eye on me.“Soon, I will meet with the Alpha of the Crimson Blood Pack myself,” I said. My voice carried, calm but sharp. “We will sign this treaty in person. Our packs will..”The

Evelyn's Pov“I have one last chance to make things right. One last chance to live a good life. Moon Goddess… I just need you to make me the mate of the Alpha. I’m begging you. My life is on the line now.”I looked at the bright moon holding the necklace that my mother had given me, I prayed nonstop, whispering over and over. Begging the Moon Goddess felt like the only thing I had left. My life had never gone in a smooth direction. Every step had been a fight. But if I became the Lunar of the Alpha Pack, things would change. No one could look down on me again. No one could call me the weakest Omega in Shadow Moon Pack. No one could treat me like an outcast.“Come on, let’s go. It’s almost time!” Stella’s voice broke into my thoughts as she just entered my room“Hold on,” I muttered. “I’m still praying.” I closed my eyes with my hands locked on each other and tightening in desperation as if the more I squeezed the more I had chances of getting my wish. The necklace covered around my p
