Chapter 3

Adeena's P.O.V

"Give her a break Lauren, she's only been here for a few hours" Kalan  mutters in an annoyed tone.

His sister turned to look at him from where we sat on the most comfortable couch I've ever been on. We have couches at the Palace but this one was way beyond comfortable, I could sleep here all day.

Indeed it had been only a few hours since I arrived to the Nexus Pack with Kalan, precisely an hour from the Moon Palace. The Nexus Pack and the Moon Palace are pretty close neighbors, the people who live in the Moon Kingdom don't really go out but when we do, it's mostly to neighboring areas.

I've only been to the Nexus Pack once, and that was with Erika, she brought me out once to help her buy some herbs for a trip, that was over three years ago.

"So, she's my Luna and not to mention, my new sister-in-law" Lauren grumbles happily.

"New?" I ask softly, causing both siblings to look at me.

Including Isaac, I almost forgot he was still here, he was the Beta of course, he also lives here, along with some other members of the pack.

"He's had other girls here?" I ask Lauren, she made a face which was seemingly apologetic.

"I-I'm so sorry" she replies unsure of what to do next.

I could tell she was fighting the urge to ask me not to make this little slip up ruin her chances of finding her mate. It was funny actually, watching her eyes widen on shock and then dilate in realization, remembering who my mother was and my power over the werewolves also.

"I'm a little tired, I think I'll just go up and have a nap" I smile softly, I pat Lauren's hand before getting up and leaving the trio to bicker amongst themselves.

To think, I'm mated with the wolf no one even dares to gaze at, only to find out he's been sleeping around. I could see playboy on him the minute I saw him and then Mother just had to bless me with a wolf.

I mean, am I not enough of a healer or an Empath?.

Why curse me with such a ridiculous person!?.

He's attractive enough yes, but come on, I barely even know what I'm doing here.

Alpha Kalan Enzo, he fears absolutely nothing, and guess what, my fear was being held against my will, I can hear Mother's words ringing into my head right now.

Do not argue with me Adeena, this is

your destiny.

My destiny, is to be stuck with a big bad wolf, a boy toy and I don't know what else, but hey, I can't do anything about it because of some connection that I am yet to feel, until the next full moon. And guess when that full moon with rise, in just a full week, in a week I will be turning into a wolf.

Bet you didn't see that coming, did you Adeena?.

Nope, just a blow in the face for being a good daughter.

The room I was in wasn't that comfortable, I wasn't used to it. It was big, had a big bed but I wasn't used to it at all. At the palace my bed could hold all four sisters, we would have sleepovers almost every night, especially when Erika was home and my room was always considered the most comfortable.

This one could possibly hold just three of us, or maybe four. I don't know, all I know is I'm not so comfortable sleeping here,but, Kalan did say there was plenty of other rooms I could sleep in if I wanted to.

Kalan's

P.O.V

"Do you not know who she is Lauren!?" Isaac scolds in a low voice.

"I'm sorry okay, she's very intimidating" Lauren answers nibbling her bottom lip nervously.

Adeena went upstairs to sleep, after a long night I expected her to fall asleep on the couch or somewhere, but she's too well mannered to do that.

Her mother really gave up her last child, just like that?.

She knew the type of person I was.

I was hoping to not find my mate, no one in this entire world could be enough to accept me the way I am, and I wanted it to stay that way.

Adeena's scent still lingered in my mind as I sat there thinking about what to say to Lauren after he sudden outburst. All I could think about was the striking ginger curls of hair and the soft golden eyes, I've never seen anyone with golden eyes before, the Moon Goddess really does make no mistakes with her creations.

Isaac opened his mouth to respond but I shut him up by looking at him, there was no point in him arguing with her right now. She's only 16, I don't expect her to be fully aware of everything, I knew I should've let my other sister come home tonight but I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

"We have work to do", Isaac nods and turns out while I follow behind. I turn to look at my sister and she looks at me.

I could see how sorry she was but I brushed it off, I understood that she didn't mean to say what she did. There were other girls, but they didn't mean anything, they never meant anything to me, I was young and reckless.

The cool air welcomed me as I walked alongside Isaac through the woods and to where the boarder patrol wolves were. Ever since I got back from the Moon Palace I wanted to come and look at what was going on, but I couldn't leave Adeena without showing her where she will be staying.

Isaac received some news about rogues roaming the pack, searching for a new place to take refuge. My pack of all places couldn't be the only the only choice they had, but it apparently was.

My pack was indeed the strongest thanks to my father's leadership over the years and my own, the Nexus Pack was on the top ranked most strongest pack, with only three others behind.

Population of over ten thousand wolves, including my other pack.

I have the best warriors, the wisest teachers and much more, my pack has everything as seen by the Elders, the best ruling known to wolf kind, I know how to keep my wolves in line.

"Alpha Kalan, Beta Isaac" Betram, my third in command wolf says standing at attention as we approach him.

"At ease Bertram" Isaac nods, "what's the issue?" he asks as I take a look around.

The air I sniffed in was a metalic kind, not a good smell.

Three men kneeled in the middle of the area, surrounded by armed men, hands bound behind their backs and bags over there heads. They were all dressed casually, except one, who was dressed as if he was about ready to fight.

"Two of them are from the Blood Moon Pack, both convicted of five murders and the other one is from Silver Moon Pack, he was also convicted of two murders" Betram explains.

There was no lie, I could smell the tainted blood from where I stood . It was surprising how they made it over here from such far off packs, it was brave act I've seen among men, they run away from their own shadows to try and hide here, only to get caught every time.

"Silver Moon?" Isaac questions, I could feel his eyes boring into my back but I dismiss it by turning to walk away.

"Send them to the cells, chained and stripped, I will be there in the morning to tend to the matter" I ordered before leaving.

"Yes Alpha" they both replied bowing their heads as I leave the area.

I entered the dark hallway, tired and wanting to just sleep, the house was dead silent, Isaac wasn't here so Lauren had no one to stay up with and watch movies, I could hear her low snores from her room even though the door was closed.

I had great hearing, comes with being the Alpha that I am.

Many other Alphas had great hearing, but mine was more heightened than others.

Adeena's scent filled my senses as I walked down the hall to my room, I had to pass her door but it was as strong by her door. The smell of lilies seemed to get my wolf all spiked up, I had to ignore the whines he was making in the back of my head.

My hand turned my door knob and I pushed the door open, that's when my wolf whined even more, it came out of my throat almost immediately as I looked at Adeena curled up with one of my pillows.

She changed her dress into one of my dress shirts, the moonlight put her on a beautiful display on my bed, she looked so small compared to the size of the pillows and the bed, she didn't even get under the covers. Her leg was sprawled over the pillow securely, I did say she could sleep anywhere, I didn't expect my room to be on her list.

Fuck, she looked so breathtaking just laying there.

How could her mother send such an innocent girl to be with me, she looked so fragile and soft, I don't know what to do with her.

The moment I realized she was my mate, I was already freaking out, I don't know one thing about loving and caring for someone the right way.

I decided to take a shower before going to bed, I've been out all night, I needed it. When I came back, Adeena had changed her position to facing where the closet was, giving me enough room to climb into the bed.

She's going to wake up tomorrow and scream, I just know it.
