I sit down at the head of the table and look at my group of Elders. There’s 7 of them total, it was decided that it should be an odd number in case there were ever any disagreements, and they needed a tie breaker.

Although I want to look angry, I know that won’t help my cause. Elder Julian remains standing while William goes to take his seat. Julian forces a smile, but I notice how his eyes flicker to me and they seem to be full of worry. My eyebrows furrow, why is he worried?

Julian says, “We have all agreed on this emergency meeting to speak with Alpha Maven over his recent decisions.”

There’s a short pause before he faces me and says, “Alpha, we feel that we have reason to be concerned about you. You allowed an exiled wolf to be a part of our pack. We were already hesitant about her when you made her your slave, but at least then we know that you would keep her in line.”
