Chapter 9 |

Amelia

Maggie knew something happened to me, but she respected me enough not to ask about it and to just give me lighter duties for the rest of the day. By the end of the day, she told me to go get some rest.

In the morning my nose was still swollen, and I had bruising on my face. I take a deep breath, cursing the fact that I have a weak wolf that caused my healing process to be much slower than others. I want to act like yesterday never happened.

I walk to the kitchen and start making breakfast. Maggie surprises me when she says, “Oh dear, I was going to take care of the Alpha’s breakfast.”

I glance up at her and tilt my head to the side as I ask, “Why would you make his breakfast? It’s my responsibility.”

She purses her lips and says, “I didn’t know if you’d feel up to it, Amelia.”

“I’m fine. Let’s just move on.”

She nods, “If you say so, miss. But if you need to talk… just know I’m here.”

I close my eyes, taking in her words, and whisper, “Thank you, Maggie.”
