Rae’s POV

I needed no soothsayer to tell me I had messed up, and he was going to be a bitch about it.

Yes, he cared enough to stay with me in the hospital, and I appreciate it. I wished I had learned about it sooner, then maybe I would have kept my big mouth shut.

“You have every right to be angry as I have overstepped my boundaries, but please don't send me home with him,” I urged, as he seemed hell-bent on sending me home with his guard.

“It's fine, I hear, and you shouldn't be apologizing,” he shrugged, avoiding my teary gaze.

I didn't understand why his lack of attention and care was affecting me this way, but I hated it.

He had a hold on my emotions in a sense that I detested… I had been poisoned, and he was feigning mood swings because I had just run my mouth.

There was no need to please or throw myself at him anymore.
